I’m actually quite saddened by the response to Sarita’s question. I have a pretty diverse friend group….A large # of friends from India and Pakistan, and from some pretty small villages in those countries, as well. The attire in this pic would not have been seen in their countries. Now they’re in the U.S., they’re used to it. But it saddens me that people are so narrow-minded that they would #1 nitpick the words normal and common and #2 attack someone from another country asking a legitimate question. Before my friends’ moved here, they would have had the same thought as Sarita….what an unwelcoming forum this sometimes is. That’s all I can say.

Lilith, i understand that travelling as a turist is a lot different than living here, i mean is obvious i don’t go to a restaurant or the movies in sweats, but if i take my daughter to the park, or go to the supermarket, or pick her from school….i do wear sweats and so do the other moms, not just the pregnant ones
Anyway, i think it depends what kind of sweats you wear, if they look like pj’s maybe is not that nice, but there are some sweats that can cost like 100 euros and are very nice…Well, is just my opinion

sil, I don’t live in Italy, so I might be wrong, but I’ve travelled it quite a few times (Bologna, Tuscany, Rome) and my perception of the women there (especially Brooke’s age and younger) was that they would rather be caught dead than wearing sweats from head to toe, LOL. The same goes for France and Spain. Maybe it’s different with pregnant woman. Or it’s just everybody’s own perception of what we seem appropriate wearing to a doctor’s appointment .

As for what topics this one photo hasn’t covered or not, photos and tidbits of interviews are all we have to keep the comment section alive, so I don’t really see what’s wrong with it.

I understand where Sarita’s coming from. I’m from the Dominican Republic, but I’m studying in the US, and back home, it is completely inappropriate to go out in sweats or flip flops, but here, students go to class in PJ’s!! But Brooke does look quite comfy.

Sarita, I really like the way you dress here. It’s practical for cycling, at least. I’ve had to stop wearing my beloved pumps now that I’m using my bike each day! Jouw engels is heel goed, meer dan mijn nederlands!

when I had my son I was due in April and I found out the sex on Nov. 7th. She probably got pregnant like I did in July.

Gender *can* be determined that early without CVS or amnio. It’s not common for sure (best chance to find 16-20 weeks), but it’s possible if the baby is a boy. If the baby is a girl, doc reading it may not be as sure in case the male organs were just hard to make out. One of my friends found out at 12 weeks from an u/s; her husband is a doctor and he used her for a class to teach medical students on how to do an u/s.
