Gavin Rossdale Can’t Blame Kingston For Wanting More Time With Mom
Andrade/Butterworth/Pacific Coast News |
Although Kingston James McGregor, 2, is having some trouble adjusting to life with his new baby brother, Zuma Nesta Rock, 9 weeks, Gavin Rossdale is the first to admit that he can’t blame the two for fighting over alone time with their mom. Sharing that there are "moments that [Kingston's] bugged out that someone is in his spot with his mom [Gwen Stefani]," Gavin laughs that he is able to relate to his son’s spats of jealousy as he realizes that the family is going through an adjustment period. "His mom is great, so I agree with that. I just can’t complain about it. I think it’s just natural. That’s what happens." Fortunately for the couple, Kingston is warming up to the idea that his baby brother is here to stay! "It’s like, here is this guy, and he’s not leaving. [Kingston] is getting used to that," says Gavin.
According to Gavin, the family has managed to narrow down their Halloween costumes for Kingston and Zuma. Although the 42-year-old dad recently said Kingston has several different costume ensembles to choose from, at the VH-1 Save the Music Foundation benefit, he revealed that "one’s an elephant and one’s a shark. Zuma’s the shark." While an elephant costume may be appropriate now, in a few years, if Kingston continues his love of music, the tot may be dressing up as his rocker dad! "He’s got good rhythm. So, I’m happy about that. I don’t push him beyond that. I let him enjoy it. He listens to lots of music, he really enjoys it. He likes a good beat," shares the proud papa. In the mean time however, it seems as if Gavin and Gwen have their hands full! Jokes Gavin,
"One is one, and two is 10. That’s all I know. [But] it’s going really well. It’s not so bad. We’ve got it down now, you know."

I think it’s great that Gavin is talking about the realities of being a parent to two children. A lot of celebrities go on and on about how great it is to be a parent and they oftentimes make it seem like it’s not a LOT of work and it’s all paradise. So I applaud him for being honest and sharing the difficulties their family is having adjusting to two children.

It just goes to show how different children can be when it comes to adjusting to a new siblings. Kingston is obviously having some trouble adjusting to Zuma.
Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, who’s the same age as Kingston (in fact, she’s only one day younger!), on the otherhand, has not had any jealousy issues with Knox and Viv, according to Angie.
Then again, Zuma is Kingston’s very first sibling whereas Shiloh already had four older siblings (and was thus used to sharing her parents) before the twins arrived!

Whoops! Obviously I meant that Shi had THREE older siblings before the twins were born. I was thinking of how there were four Jolie-Pitt children total before the twins arrived…and forgot to take into account that Shi is one of those four!

Must be hard for Kingston. My sister and I are 16 months apart and my mum tells me that two weeks after I was born my sister asked if I could leave now!

I’m the baby of the family but I can imagine how hard it is for a kid of that age to *share* his mom. But Im sure they’ll grow up to be wonderful siblings.
