One look at the Cheekeyes wooden animal toys and my preschool age son was hooked. These eco-friendly rubber wood toys have inspired hours of creative play and countless smiles in our house.  Even my infant daughter loves them. Designed in the Netherlands, Cheekeyes — adorable wooden creatures with, yes, little pink cheeks painted on their faces — come in sets of five animals. There are also many accessories that can add to the imaginative fun.

We’ve been playing with a set of Cheekeyes Dinosaurs ($29.99) and Forest Animals ($29.99), as well as some fun Prehistoric Trees ($16.99), a Dino Volcano ($16.99), Forest Trees ($16.99) and a Forest Cave ($16.99). Needless to say, our Cheekeyes dinosaurs and animals have been having some pretty big adventures in the playroom lately.

The toys are sturdy, yet beautiful. Simple, yet fascinating. While intended for child’s play, they’re so stylish I imagine them being used decoratively in children’s rooms, as well. That said, I don’t expect there’s a child in existence who would be willing to just leave the Cheekeyes on the shelf!
