"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

Katie Holmes Steps Out with a Smiley Suri!

Freddy Baez/Ramey

Suri Cruise scrunches her nose and smiles while out in the East Village with mom Katie Holmes on Tuesday evening in NYC. Suri, 2 ½, has enjoyed lots of city outings in the past few months — check them out in our Holmes-Cruise Family Gallery!

Will Tom and Katie have another baby? Time will tell, but Nicole Kidman just passed them the buck for a boy!

Suri is wearing Splendid Littles Cashmere Henley Dress in Pink ($99).

She carries a Little Giraffe blanket.

My son is about her age and he always scrunches up his face when he smiles for the camera! He thinks he’s supposed to “cheese”!!!

Here we go again though with Suri in blankets instead of a coat. She must be a tough one!!! My son just knows we can’t leave the house until he puts his coat on, but each kid is different!

  2. SH Says:

    mmh-
babysteps. a long sleeve sweater dress is leaps and bounds compared to what she’s been wearing. maybe we’ll see a coat in dec/jan?!

  3. angie Says:

Suri looks so cute smiling, and although she has no coat on her, she is at least waring a long sleeve dress, nice!

  4. Stephanie D Says:

    YAY! Happy and warm Suri!

  5. Bela Says:

    Two words, too cute!

  6. phoebe Says:

A friend of mine once admitted that she carried her son around in a blanket because it reminded her of when he was a baby and it was the last baby thing she could hold onto with him. I’m wondering if that might be what is at play with Suri. It’s good to see her in long sleeves, but I would early love to see her in a coat. If the blanket is a comfort to her, it’s not like it’s impossible to take it along as well. Regardless, Suri is still a mummy’s girl looks wise, definately a cutie!

  7. Ella Says:

I live in NY, and before you all go crazy…..I am ALWAYS colder than everyone around me and I was out in the west village from 6pm-2am and it was NOT cold like it had been last week. I had a very very light jacket with me and I could not even wear it…I had to carry it and all i had on was a short-sleeved dress with tights so Suri is perfectly dressed.

Now the real reason I came to comment….that has to be THE most adorable picture I have seen in a long time!!

  8. Jazz Says:

My now three year old daughter hates coats, and has since she was little. It is a battle to get a coat on her, so if we are going out she much prefers to be wrapped in a cozy blanket than wear a coat. Winter it’s never much of a problem to put a coat on her, but in fall she hates it and much prefers a blanket. With three other kids who have no problem wearing coats, I’ve decided to pick my battles with her. As long as she is wrapped up then she is fine.
She knows that she can get away with a blanket if she stays in the stroller, but if she wants to get up and have fun with the 2 older ones, she is more than aware that she has to grab her coat.
Am I a bad mother? No. I just don’t want to fight with my child ever day when I’m just throwing her in a stroller to take the older two to school. Maybe Suri is the same way? Prefers blankie or coat.

  9. hana Says:

it seems like suri is almost ALWAYS wearing dresses that cost a ton of money. what ever happened to baby gap? i know celebrities can afford it, but other kids like violet affleck, kingston rossdale, eden & savannah mahoney, etc wear more inexpensive clothes sometimes. i don’t get it.

  10. Destiny Says:

That’s such a cute picture. She’s such an adorable little girl.

I don’t mean to sound rude, but as long as Tom and Katie aren’t asking us to pay for Suri’s clothes, it shouldn’t really matter to us how much they spend on them. But hey, if y’all want to fret over how much her clothes costs, whether or not she’s wearing a coat or if her hair is too long, have at it. You are certainly entitled to do so.

Oh, and I liked the suggestion that Nicole made about Katie having a boy for Conner. That was too cute.

  11. lilith Says:

Why is it anybody’s business how much other people spend on their own clothes?
Sorry, but this discussion comes up every now and then and I just don’t get it. It’s their money. They are not taking it away from you, are they? If they want to wear fancy dresses all the time, so what. Live and let live.

  12. Amanda Says:

yes, it’s great that she is finally wearing long sleeves, but just jared has all the other photos..in which you can clearly see that she is wearing no tights/stockings and her little ballerina slippers…she is walking next to her mom and in front of the bodyguard..both of wich are wearing at least 3 layers!! the bodyguard is even wearing an underarmor shirt!! Over the last month I have seen so many different photos of Katie out and with Suri dressed in summer dresses, while she has her mom is dressed in warm clothing and it makes me cringe everytime…there is no sense or logic behind this..and even if you’re child does not like wearing coats you can still dress them appropriately and sometimes you just need to be a parents and do what’s best for your child’s health. I am very surpirsed that social services hasn’t done anything yet…any other non celeb mother who would let their child run around in summer clothing when it is freezing cold outside would be held accountable or at least questioned!! this family makes me very sad and i hope little suri will not get seriously ill.

  13. Rebecca Says:

Why do Tom, Katie and Suri all have the same haircut?! They all look like clones.

  14. monica Says:

What a cute picture! She’s such a doll and Katie’s finally smiling.

@hana: I really don’t want to sound rude, but I’m perplexed: did they ask you to buy Suri’s cachemire (which is, by the way, a very warm material) dress?

    I suppose not.

  15. Rebecka Says:

    She’s so cute.

  16. Nan Says:

This is not only related to Suri, as we don’t know why she never wears a coat…….but saying “maybe she doesn’t like to wear a coat” is silly! Who’s in charge? What’s next….my kid doesn’t like to wear a seat belt! I live in NYC and we have had some mild days recently, but some very cold ones as well. Just look at Tom and Katie with their turtleneck sweaters and wool pea coats. Then there’s Suri, loosely wrapped in a blanket like a 6 month old! Being wrapped in a blanket is not pratical when she is walking, which I assume she does at some point! And if they carry her in a blanket to keep her a baby….then have another baby!!

  17. Bethy Says:

What a cute picture! I like her little sweater dress, and Suri looks so much like Katie with the scrunched up look on her face!

  18. Jane Says:

    Suri is absolutely adorable!

  19. Nan Says:

oh and one more thing…..if she does not “like a coat” then put layers on her to keep her warm. she could wear a sweater over her dress along with tights and probably be just fine. a blanket that always seems to be draped on Katie’s arm does nothing for suri!

  20. miameows Says:

I saw a recent video of Katie and Suri in Central Park, Katie kept feeling Suri’s arm to see if it was cold, and then when she tried to put Suri’s sweater on, well it was a typical two year old fight. Then she picked her up and wrapped her in a blanket. Pick your battles. It’s like my brother who persuades his two year old into her car seat by giving her chocolate, I wouldn’t do that, but that’s what works for him.

  21. Dee Says:

It is getting to the point that I am afraid to open comments when I see a picture of Suri.

I guess I was just hoping this one time that all the prefect parents who knows everything about their own children, would give the parents of Suri the benefit of a doubt that they know about theirs.

    GUESS I WAS WRONG!

  22. phoebe Says:

I wish people would understand that this is a comment forum, which means users are allowed to make good and bad comments about different things. It’s been said before, but if you think you’re going to be offended by something that may be written here, it might just be best to not read the comments. I’m not trying to have a go at anyone, but as long as people aren’t being disrespectful, there’s nothing wrong with expressing an adverse opinion. And whatever the reason, given that Suri is regularly seen with no coat on, I think it’s perfectly acceptable that comments are made about that. Personally, I love the fact that on CBB you can make comments both good and bad and have a respectful debate with someone else, I just wouldn’t like to see that end because some users are a bit sensitive to other’s comments. Sorry if that’s a bit of a rant, but JMO lol.

I think Suri’s adorable, like I said, just like her mummy!

  23. Nan Says:

Speculating as to why a child never wears a coat, even when its cold and mom and dad have one on, does not mean we as parents think we are perfect and i’m not sure where any post suggests that. it’s a health/safety question. nobody is running to call child services on these parents who clearly adore their baby girl. we just wonder where her coat is when its cold out. plain and simple. if she was running around nyc w/o shoes that would be odd and dangerous too. as readers of this site, we would be allowed to say so w/o proclaiming “we are PERFECT!”

  24. shan Says:

I totally understand about it being noones business about how much people spend on their childrens clothing, if I had the money I would do the same (probably not as some of these kids clothes cost more than my own) but I am a thrifty shopper, my children trash their clothes, so I have to bargain shop because there is no point in making them look all pretty and nice in a $100 dress or outfit and they go and play in the dirt.
I do not think that child will be allowed to play in dirt :)

  25. alex Says:

I live in montreal, were it’s supposed to be colder than in NYC and it was kind of hot fo november yesterday so it’s possible that Suri just was’nt cold. I went to NYC at this time of the year last year and I was ok with no coat on.

  26. Sarah Says:

“I wish people would understand that this is a comment forum, which means users are allowed to make good and bad comments about different things. It’s been said before, but if you think you’re going to be offended by something that may be written here, it might just be best to not read the comments.”

If that’s the case then the CBB needs to remove the rules about saying negative things. That’s what bothers me, I don’t care what people say even though I think it’s ridiculous, but I’m tired of seeing some of it get through when it clearly breaks the rules. I’ve noticed it happens with some celebs more than others, I don’t know if that’s bias on the part of the people who approve comments or just the way people are but either way, to imply you know more about a situation than a child’s mother by one or two little pictures is insulting to the celebrity, something we’re NOT supposed to do…or at least that’s what the rules say.

  27. Jess Says:

    do they shape suris eyebrows?

  28. Bancie1031 Says:

YAY!!! Suri has on long-sleeves! That’s a very big step, that and the fact that it’s cashmere, which I have heard is very warm! Thank you Katie!
Ok yes she still has a blanket around her but so what at least now she has on long sleeves. And a blanket should keep her legs warm for now.

Now with all of that outta the way …..

AWWWW how cute does Suri look here!! I love her little face here …. she’s so adorable. Thanks for the picture.

  29. Stef Says:

Even if I had the money, I would never put my child in cashmere. That’s just asking for trouble. You should never have to dry clean your children’s clothing.

  30. lacrosse Says:

I never comment here but some of you just urge me to speak my mind. Quite frankly it is annoying to read all of your comments. If you have ever noticed Katie wears coats and sweater and long sleeves in the summer, so maybe she is just a naturally cold person. It has not been that cold out lately, so cut her some slack. She is perfectly dresses today. Period end of sotry. Come on people, I dont mean to sound rude but get a life.

  31. SH Says:

    Lacrosse,
If you haven’t been “following” the last few pictures/comment sections of Suri wearing nothing but summer dresses at the park in 50 degree November weather then you wouldn’t understand half of these comments anyway. Most of them are for fun at this point since it’s been going on now for quite some time…and since you apparantly have a life and if the comments annoy you that much then maybe try not to read them.

  32. nan Says:

Not to run this into the ground…..but some people seem to forget: this is a COMMENTS forum, Therefore people come here to make COMMENTS. Good or bad, we are entitled to our opinion. If you don’t want to read COMMENTS because they are “annoying”….then don’t!!

  33. TracyG Says:

“Good or bad, we are entitled to our opinion. If you don’t want to read COMMENTS because they are “annoying”….then don’t”

And if you don’t want to see Suri underdressed or Katie being a “bad mother” then DON’T OPEN THE POST EITHER! Simple as that!

    It works both ways lady!

I think Suri looks adorable. So what if she’s in cashmere? First you bash she’s in short sleeves and silk. Now she’s in LONG SLEEVES but it’s STILL NOT GOOD ENOUGH! Now it’s “OMG, how DARE Katie put her in cashmere!” “How DARE Katie buy her an expensive dress she can’t play in!”

For some of you, she is damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t! WOW….

  34. Pal Says:

SH grow up and stop trying to pick a fight. We should all just look at how cute Suri is!

  35. tay tay shaquinda Says:

still no tights on her legs…go to dlisted.com . There are a bunch of pics showing her bare legs…unreal. Katie looks warm and bundled.

  36. Mary-Helen Says:

I love Suri! She is the cutest celeb baby right now.

My daughter (who is 21 mos) has only been going out in long sleeves or a little sweater because it’s been unseasonably warm. Maybe it’s the same in NYC?

  37. CelebBabyLover Says:

Nan- “And if they carry her in a blanket to keep her a baby….then have another baby!!” Considering that Katie is currently doing a Broadway play (All My Sons), I don’t think another baby is in the cards for them right now. I can easily see her and Tom trying for another baby come January, once the play is over, though. :)

Anyway, I was actually relieved when I saw Suri in long sleeves…Because I knew that meant there probably wouldn’t be as many coat comments as there have been in past Suri posts.

That said, Suri is a cutie, and I used to scrunch my nose like that all the time when I was a kid (heck, I still do it on occasion!)! :)

  38. Lorus Says:

I love scrunched up face smiles!

  39. BebeB Says:

She is seriously the best-dressed child in Hollywood. I think of a precocious, poised little Eloise when I see her!

  40. lilith Says:

    Did I miss something?
Was CBB recruiting “comment forum advisers” which are now lecturing us ignoramuses what this forum is for and what not? And I’m talking to those who started it.

Also SH, “Most of them are for fun at this point since it’s been going on now for quite some time” … really? Just comes to show that humour just like beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. I cannot find anything amusing when people over and over and over again make the same scrutinizing comments. But to each their own.

  41. nan Says:

tracyg: i have never complained about katie being a “bad mother” or seeing suri in short sleeves. i love these pictures because not only is she adorable, it opens up valid discussions amongst moms and anyone who reads this site. why do people always have to take things to such a “hostile” level?! a just to be clear, i didn’t have to “open the comments” to see suri’s picture. they are right there on the website that i regularly read “lady”.

  42. SH Says:

lacrosse,Pal (since you are the same person) – thank goodness you don’t comment very much – unless you have other names than those to hide yourself. telling people to get a life and grow up when they are stating respectful opinions? not very nice. at least use the same username on a post so people know who you are if you’re going to be so mean.

  43. SH Says:

    Lilith,
“Live and let live”…”To each their own”…
Why not follow your own advice? Take it with a grain of salt and chill. I have my opinion, you have yours. Suri is being dressed more appropriately the last couple days anyway, so it’s not really an issue anymore.

  44. phoebe Says:

I’m not sure if I’m being accused of being a ‘comment forum advisor’ but if I am, let me just say this: I made a comment about allowing people to have opinions because so many times on Suri posts, people have been shouted down for simply expressing an opinion about either her clothes, or the expense of her clothes, or her parents, etc, and while I may not always agree with the things that are said, I would hate this to become a place where people are afraid to have an opinion, just because someone might take it the wrong way. Yes, sometimes posts on the Holmes-Cruise family are critical, but as long as they aren’t full of cursing and rude remarks, I don’t see the harm. Suri doesn’t wear a coat that often if at all, and people comment on that. Where is the issue there? If the same thing is said repeatedly, so what? It’s possible to read the posts and look at all the photos without actually reading the comments, and if I was going to be easily offended by another’s comments about something, or if I felt I couldn’t respect the right of someone to have their own say, I probably wouldn’t read further than the official post. I’m not actually accusing anyone of disrespect here, I’m just making a general point.

People have the right to an opinion, and if they don’t express that respectfully, then object away, I’ll be with you on that, but I think it’s a bit much to expect that everyone will always love everything they see posted here. And just because a comment might not always be sunshine and flowers, doesn’t mean it has any less of a place.

  45. Stephany Says:

I am all for expressing opinions and for the most part, I’ve been ignoring these posts of Suri where there have been 30+ comments where everyone goes back and forth that say “Put Suri in a jacket” to “Katie knows if Suri is cold, leave her alone!”

You’re right. This IS a comments forum. We are allowed to make our comments, whether we say how cute a kid is or how we feel a parent needs to dress their kid.

At the same time, it just gets to the point where…”If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all!” Yeah, it makes for a good discussion but I just don’t see the point to them. What is the point in remarking how we think Suri needs to be in a coat? Obviously, Katie is not deliberately making her child suffer in the name of fashion. That’s just silly! At the end of the day, Katie and Tom are the ones who tuck Suri in to bed and know her best. I’m sure if we were at a park with our baby and some stranger came up to us and said, “Your kid should REALLY have a jacket on. I mean, seriously! What’s the deal?” we would be offended, because we know our child best. We know if we need to put a jacket on our kid.

I’m not bashing the differences of opinion. I’m just wondering why.

“If you don’t have anything nice to say, just DON’T say anything at all…”

  46. phoebe Says:

Stephany, up to a point, I do agree with you, in fact, I almost entirely agree with you. But the point is, people should have the right to express an opinion, and that shouldn’t be stifled. It’s always nice to see great comments about a post, but users should still be able to retain the right to make critical comments. I think the majority of people who have commented on Suri have kept it in perspective. They’ve made comments about her percieved lack of clothing, but haven’t been rude about it. To me, I think that’s a fair middle ground to find with a potentially contentious issue. And if people do take it a step too far, I doubt it will slip through considering all posts are monitored.

To get back to commenting on the photo, I love it! Suri is a doll.

  47. Artemis Says:

    Oh come on everybody!
Do you actually think you care about Suri more than her mom does?? This makes no sense.
I’m not Katie’s fan, Im definitely not Tom’s fan but Im tired of reading comments about Suri’s missing coat.
Why on earth wouldn’t she be wearing a coat if she was cold? She certainly can talk and ask for one and her mom is for sure concerned the most about her being cold.

  48. nan Says:

lillith – i hardly think anybody is trying to be a comment forum advisor. its just ironic that people would take the time to open the comments and then complain “Quite frankly it is annoying to read all of your comments”. It’s like coming to the CBB website and complaining about pictures of children!

  49. brooke Says:

    she’s so cute suri

  50. J Says:

Nan, so then you agree that both sides in these silly arguments need to grow up. People come look at Suri just to complain it seems and then get offended when others get tired of it. It’s sad.
