Usher Feels ‘Charged’ After Becoming a Father

Despite his rise to fame as an R&B singer, Usher realizes that along with the celebrity status comes a sense of responsibility for those who have yet to chase their dreams. In a recent appearance on the Today show, Usher recites the lyrics of his newest single "Hush" as he credits his own mother for instilling in him the sense of community. "Everybody wants to touch the sky, but nobody wants to reach back for the ones who were afraid to fly," shares the 30-year-old singer, who has now been passed the baton as a father to his son Usher Raymond V, turning one this month, and a second baby on the way. With his career continuing to blossom, Usher feels "an added responsibility," as he agrees that his choices in life are made with his wife Tameka Foster and their children in mind.

"Setting a great example for what I would love my kids to grow up to be. I feel charged, life with reason now that you have a child, it’s like, baby’s gotta eat!"

When prompted to discuss the new baby due this winter, Usher refers to the bundle of joy as "he," before quickly correcting himself! Telling co-host Hoda Kotb, who smiles as she questions the singer about his slip-up, Usher stresses, "Well, he or she, will be here in December."
