Amy Poehler Touched By Saturday Night Live’s Vocal Tribute

Although Amy Poehler has bid farewell to her role on Saturday Night Live, the new mom still settles down every weekend to catch up on the latest episode. With her new baby boy, son Archibald ‘Archie’ William Emerson, 2 weeks tomorrow, snuggled next to her, Amy watched a DVR-ed version the day after giving birth and was especially touched to see a special tribute song — changing Frankie Valli’s Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You lyrics from "I love you, baby," to "We love you, Amy" — congratulating her on her new arrival.

At the opening party for Juicy Couture’s new Fifth Avenue flagship store, SNL star Keenan Thompson shared with PEOPLE that he received a text message from an emotional Amy, 37, thanking the cast for their thoughtfulness. Keenan reveals,

"She said, ‘Oh, you made me cry! I’m sitting here with Archibald and we’re watching it.’ It was cool."

Archie is Amy’s son with her husband, fellow comedian Will Arnett.

Amy, sweetie, if the baby looks anything like you he must be just beautiful. Congrats on your little man. And here’s to a lifetime of another type of laughter: the sweet sound of baby belly laughs!!

I have never commented on these public blogsites before but I am so sad to hear of Amy’s departure from SNL. With three kids, I am usually too tired to watch the show but I think that the show is at its best with its political satires. This year, SNL has been at the top of its game with Amy’s Hillary, Darrell’s Clinton, and Tina’s Palin–the hubs and I have been watching clips on the internet because we just can’t get enough. But alas, I am not sure if I will be watching it anymore without Amy Poehler and the elections being over. It just won’t be the same. She is definitely one of the strongest female contributors to the show ever, an amazing chameleon, and just plain uber-talented. But at the same time, I totally respect her decision to be with her baby. I wish Amy, Will and Archie the best!

  6. Allison Says:

Amy and Will, congrats! You are going to be really fun parents! Amy, I’m going to miss ya on SNL, but you are a really terrific comic actress (my fave – the Russian mail order bride in marriage counseling!) so I hope to see you working again soon. Enjoy motherhood and know your fans love you and Archie, too!

  7. charlotte Says:

I bet Archie is beautiful! Amy will be such a cool mom!

  8. Momof4 Says:

    Amy,
Best wishes to you and your family. I personally think you are the most hysterically funny person on television, and television will sorely miss you, but our loss is your family’s gain.
Thank God for Youtube so I can watch the Palin rap over and over.
Good luck and don’t worry about the sleep deprived insanity, it eventually fades:)

  9. I-dra Says:

LOL @ allison… one of my favorite roles was the one-legged contestant on “rock of love”: “yeah, i farted – jealous?”

oh amy, you are so awesome & i’m gonna miss you, but the rest of the cast has enough going for them that this is one of the strongest casts (IMO) since the days of will farrell.

congratulations again to amy & will. i can’t wait to see little archie!

  10. Sammy-xx Says:

I bet wee Archie came out laughing and telling jokes. He’ll be stand-up ready by his 5th birthday I bet.
Can’t wait to catch a glimpse of Archie, with a dad that handsome and a mum that gorgeous he’ll certainly be one good looking kid.

  11. mike licavoli Says:

Good job on the baby…you do suck on SNL

  12. Pat Says:

Amy, congratulations to you and your husband with the birth of a healthy son, no greater gift. I am so saddened to know that you won’t be returning to SNL and with Tina and Mia all now gone from the show, I guess I will be in bed early on Saturday nights. I will give the newbies a chance, but with your leaving, it’s going to be a tall order to fill. Please, will you at least make guest appearances? None the less, I wish you all the best, and enjoy the little gift that you’ve been blessed with.

  13. Scott Says:

Congrats Amy but you will be missed on SNL. I guess another phase in your life has begun and we wish you the best with our prayers.

  14. Jordan Says:

    Amy,
Congrats on the baby, and you will be a great mom! I wish you would come back to Saturday Night Live because you were the best person in there! It’s different without you! I wish you all the best Amy!!

  15. amy-p-fan#1 Says:

i hope to see her on tv (or on the big-screen) soon!

  16. Emma Says:
