Victor Garber Calls the Garner-Afflecks the ‘Perfect Family’

Clint Brewer/Splash News Online

When it comes to the Garner-Affleck family, what you see is what you get, according to former Alias co-star Victor Garber, who loves "spending time with them." Sharing a very close relationship with actors Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, as well as their 2 ½-year-old daughter Violet Anne, Victor reveals to OK! that the anticipation of the couple’s second baby — due this winter — is building as the big day grows closer. While the 59-year-old actor is "very excited about the new child," he shares that he is not the only one counting the days, as proud papa Ben is thrilled, "as well as he should be. He’s got the perfect family."

As for soon-to-be big sister Violet, Victor says there is no question that Jennifer — who is "doing absolutely great" — is the tot’s mother!

"Oh, she is an astonishing child. She looks just like her mother! She’s her mother’s daughter."

  1. Jen K Says:

I love that spy daddy is still involved with their lives! I miss Alias :(

  2. Bren Says:

    I miss Alias too!!! :(

Anyway…I bet the Affleck-Garners are a fun, loving family. Glad to see Victor is so close to them!

  3. Bela Says:

There is no such thing as the perfect family. You might see them getting divorced a year from now. They let us see what they want us to see.
It’s like I say to my kids, you don’t have to be perfect, there is no such thing. You just have to try your best at everything you do. That’s all I ask of you, and that’s what we try to do as parents also.

  4. Megan Says:

I love Victor…and not just for this statement but because he really is like a part of their family–he loves all three (soon to be 4) of them like they are his family…it’s so sweet…and Bela I think he just said PERFECT as a grand statement, I am sure he didn’t mean that everything in their lives are perfect–it was just him expressing his love and admiration for them…I don’t think we need to take it verbatim

  5. Angel Says:

Bela, I don’t think Victor is saying they are literally perfect. He’s just saying they are a great family unit and pretty happy. I’ve described my friend’s family as “the perfect family” before. Do I think they truly are perfect? No, of course not. I just mean they are extremely happy and work well together for the most part.

  6. Sarita Says:

Because it was someone else saying it I think it’s ok but when people start declaring their own relationship perfect it’s a bad sign most of the time! Maybe it’s just that their trying to convince themselves thet are ok or something.

  7. Jeannie Says:

Victor’s comment about Ben being thrilled about the new baby and that he’s “got the perfect family” makes me think they know they’re having a boy.

  8. Alice Says:

I miss Alias too! It is nice to know that Jennifer and Victor Garber became close in real life kind of like Sydney finally did with SpyDaddy on Alias, and it sounds like Violet is a goddaughter or granddaugher to Victor.

  9. sinclair Says:

    Sarita, I concur.

things are often “perfect” on the outside, but victor does not live with jen and ben! i know he means well, though.

  10. Shawna Says:

Jeannie – He wouldn’t be thrilled if he was having a girl? That seems like an odd statement to make, especially considering how enamored he is with his daughter. My father had two girls and felt like he had the “perfect” family

  11. MB Says:

Yes Alice I believe Victor is Violet’s Godfather.

  12. SARA Says:

Jeannie I find your comment inappropriate! It means that they wouldn’t be happy with another daughter! It’s not true, all the baby are a blessing whatever the sex is!Also my mom had two girls:me and my sister and she wouldn’t change us for nothing in the world!

  13. Jared Smythe Says:

It must be a Boston boys thing
Matt and Casey both walk a mile in front of their wives
too..Love how Vi points and looks like she is going to say something important..
By the way Melissa George who played Michael Vartan’s wife
on Alias is going to be on
    Grey’s Anatomy!

  14. Jeannie Says:

Mea culpa! I certainly didn’t mean that there’s anything wrong with two girls. Certainly not. I wasn’t even thinking that. As a 42 year old single woman who most probably will never have children, I fully appreciate that a child of either gender is a blessing. I know men can certainly be happy with all daughters, but I also know that men are thrilled to have a son and a daughter. A lot of people refer to that as a pefect family. A lot of couples stop having kids after they have both a son and daughter because to them, they have a perfect, complete family. That Victor Garber specifically said that Ben was thrilled made me think that Ben was looking forward to having a son he could do the father/son stuff with.
    It was a harmless comment.

  15. Rosy J Says:

I love the Garner-Afflecks. They are my favorite celeb family. I don’t understand what prompted Bela to point out that they show us what they want us to see and that there is no such thing as the “perfect” family. I am sure Victor (who by the way) know them personally and have on many occasions experienced their lives on a very up close and personal nature would have more insight than someone who only knows them through some paparazzi photos. If I didn’t know better, I might think that Bela harbored some sort of jealously toward them judging by her comment. I however choose to believe she merely wanted to point out that no one and nothing in her opinion is perfect. I invite her to correct me if I’m wrong. As for me, I think their family is pretty close to perfect and I would love to have what they seem to have. I hope the new baby is healthy no matter what the sex. God bless them. They certainly are a beautiful family if not a “perfect” one. :)

  16. Rosy J Says:

I would like to say also that I adore Victor Garber. He is so handsome and such a talented man. He is amazing.

  17. Sheri Says:

I agree with Jeannie! I read the same thing into that comment ~ we KNOW Ben would be thrilled with whatever child he has … but I think Victor was alluding to the fact that the baby might be a boy as a lot of men really desire to have a son. But that doesn’t take away from his love of his daughter! I think some of you are way too defensive about what Jeannie wrote … good grief!

  18. liv Says:

I was thinking the same thing jeannie. Not in a bad way at all, but just because a lot of people do view that as a perfect family. I am sure the couple would be just as thrilled with a girl but the comments do make me think its gonna be a boy. We’ll have to see.

  19. AuburnGirl Says:

I knew what you meant Jeannie! some people are just eager to start a fight.

I love the Garner-Afflecks! Violet is just too cute. I can’t wait to see their new addition. I really hope it’s a boy and it looks like Ben. how cute would that be??

  20. Lauren Says:

“I don’t understand what prompted Bela to point out that they show us what they want us to see and that there is no such thing as the “perfect” family. Are you for real? It’s obvious you think the sun rises and sets on this family, but I didn’t realize maintaining even the smallest amount of objectivity towards anything related to them was so difficult. Bizarre.

And Jeannie, there was nothing wrong with your comment (or Bela’s). There will always be readers here who take everything so literally is causes them personal offense. Not your problem.

  21. Rosy J Says:

Excuse me Lauren, I did not address you (nor did you address me). However, you chose to take a portion of my comment and use it to make your point. I was merely pointing out that Victor obviously views this family as perfect. Whether he meant it literally or figuratively remains mute. If you chose to see the cup as half empty as opposed to half full, so be it. However, my statement remains the same and unchanged. Peace.

  22. Molly Says:

I love Victor Garber – he seems like such a nice man, and I always got the feeling he loves Jennifer Garner offscreen as much as he did onscreen.

I’m thinking Violet’s going to have a baby brother, too, but that’s just a gut feeling. I’m sure the parents will be thrilled either way, but I know a lot of parents who’ve tried for “one of each,” so maybe they’re hoping a bit for a boy.

I love seeing Jen and Violet together. I’m sure Vi loves her daddy, but she’s such a mama’s girl – which I always think is nice to see.

  23. Trisha Says:

Is Victor Kidding The Perfect Family There was word they were getting Divorced

We never even saw Ben with Violet hardly except for the past few months

  24. Jeannie Says:

    Thanks everyone!

  25. SARA Says:

I didn’t want to be rude with you Jeannie, and sorry for saying that your comment sound inappropriate.

  26. Grace Says:

Holy reading too much into things, Batman.

It’s a high compliment to have a family friend refer to your family as “perfect”, and Garber is clearly a close family friend. “Perfect” can also be uttered with a snide undertone, and I think we all know what it’s like to have someone say it in a way that implies “well, aren’t you special”, but I can’t imagine such a thing from Garber, he’s clearly infatuated with at least the ladies in the family.

I’d beam if a close, beloved friend called my family perfect. I’m sure Garner and Affleck did as well.

  27. este Says:

It’s sickening the way they pimp out their daughter relentlessly! You never see Julia Robert’s children & she’s a much bigger star. I bet you they divorce 2 years. Hollywood never has the perfect marriage & this is all just PR.

  28. Jeannie Says:

Thank you Sara! I appreciate your comments.

  29. Mike Says:

Does anyone have Victor Garbers email address…I think he is HOT!!
