Following the birth of their daughter Bailey DeLuca in 2007, actor Scott Baio and his wife Renee were faced with the frightening news that their baby girl’s initial blood tests had come back positive for the dangerous metabolic disorder glutaric acidemia type 1. Enduring several months of uncertainty to later find out that Bailey did not have the disease, the couple report that Bailey, who turned 1-year-old last week, is doing "great." However, despite their joy over their daughter, Scott, 47, reveals to Us Weekly that the family is not looking to make Bailey a big sister!

"Definitely not. We had a tough time with that pregnancy. So, no. One is enough!"

In addition to Bailey, Renee also has daughter Kalyn from a previous relationship.

I always pictured them with one child, for some reason I could never see scott with 2-3 kids lol. Bailey is so cute, I like this family.

  2. momto4 Says:

Alright, I don’t get it. Why does the fact that the baby ALMOST had a life threatening condition, constantly come up while talking about this family. Get over it…move on…she is a happy and healthy baby. She DOES NOT have the dangerous metabolic disorder glutaric acidemia type 1. Stop mentioning that she almost had it. Tons of mothers have had false positive tests reported whilr their child was the womb. Emagine if every momther that had a false positive for Downs Syndrome walked around saying “this is my baby boy, did you know that he ALMOST had Downs?” Ugh!

aww they make cute babies though lol but i do understand where they’re coming from

  4. meghan Says:

Thank god Bailey is healthy. As long as they do what’s right for them…

  5. Jess Says:

What a gorgeous couple. It’s great Scott could find love and fatherhood later in life. He seems like a sweet guy, and their baby is a doll!

  6. Mary Says:

Very cute baby… but I think they should give it a sibling- maybe even adoption.

  7. CelebBabyLover Says:

Mary- Bailey is a PERSON, not an IT! Also, she already has a sibling, her big sister Kayln! :)

  8. CelebBabyLover Says:

I want to apologize if I sounded a little snappy in my last comment. I tend to get a little defensive when people insist that an only child should have a sibling.

I hate the stigma there seems to be that all kids need siblings to grow up well-adjusted and happy. My mother is an only child, and she turned out just fine. Being an only child is not the end of the world, you know! :)
