I believe in that old school saying of “do the crime,do the time”. I think being a woman, we shouldn’t be easier on them, if anything there should be more effort put on trying to rehabilitate them. When I worked for CAS the frustrating things you see/hear will drive you nuts. The moms that will spend money on drugs etc and get high with their boyfriends and leave the baby undiapered and unfed. Or the ones that don’t stop doing the drugs when they find out they are pregnant. The ones who take off for days and leave the children alone until someone in the building complains. And drugs aren’t the only problem. I remember meeting one mom that thought her 6 and 8 year old “should be grateful” that her boyfriend had been providing for them especially since he wasn’t there dad and that it was wrong of them to complain about him sexually abusing them. They aren’t all saints just because they are mothers. And they all don’t appreciate the miracle of life like some of us do. That was the first lesson I had to learn. No wonder I quit.
