Have you ever wondered what celebrity chefs make for their children? For Giada De Laurentiis, she relies on foods from her childhood to help inspire her when cooking for 7 ½-month-old daughter Jade Marie. After an interview with Express Night Out, Giada shared that, "As soon as we get home, I’m going to make pastina [pasta shaped like baby stars] with butter and Parmesan. It’s what I ate as a baby." The Today contributor is currently traveling to help promote her cookbook Giada’s Kitchen: New Italian Favorites and Jade and husband Todd Thompson are right there alongside her.

"I have lots of help, especially from my husband … I’m working out less, and my sociallife has taken a backseat. That’s OK. Between work and Jade, there’s noplace I’d rather be."

My husband is Italian and he used to eat pastina as a child and now our son eats it too. Very simple and yummy. We call it “pasta burro”. We don’t use star pasta anymore (that’s more for when the baby is younger and can’t chew big pieces). I use macaroni. Just boil the macaroni until tender, drain, plop in some butter (as much or little as you like), mix to melt, then sprinkle parmesan cheese over top and mix again. I personally like to freshly grate my parmesan as it tastes much better than the ready-grated stuff.

Just so everyone knows dairy is not recommended to children under 1 year of age for allergy reasons.
