John Travolta ‘Excited’ For Daughter Ella’s Movie Debut

With John Travolta as a father, there is not much that impresses 16-year-old Jett and his 8 ½-year-old sister Ella Bleu — that is, until they found out their dad would be working alongside Miley Cyrus! While John’s first role in an animated movie with Miley was "big enough news," the true excitement came when the 54-year-old actor revealed to his kids that he would be collaborating with the Hannah Montana star to record Bolt’s title track. "The singing and dancing with her was a whole other thing. So I’m finally getting some attention from my kids," jokes John.

Excited for her dad’s performance, John shares that Ella will soon have her own shot at stardom when she joins her dad to make her official movie debut in Old Dogs, along with her mom, actress Kelly Preston. After reading the script, both John — who is "so excited" for his daughter — and Kelly agreed that the film would be perfect opportunity for Ella to be introduced into the industry. Looking no further than fellow celebrity couple — and good friends — Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith for inspiration, the family are confident that Ella’s time in Hollywood has arrived. John says,

"I want to see her have a fruitful career and I really think it’s time to introduce her, sort of like Will Smith introduced his son. I think this is the right thing for Ella, and Kelly thought it was smart too."

Did I dream it, or was Jett supposed to be in that film as well? I’m sure I read something about the whole family joining in.

  2. Hayley_B Says:

Awww…Ella’s such a beautiful little girl. It will be a treat to see her working with her parents :)

  3. SAR Says:

Ella is one gorgeous little girl. She was a beautiful baby and she’s only gotten more beautiful as she’s gotten older.

  4. poppy Says:

“I want to see her have a fruitful career.”

Eh, I find that kind of creepy. She’s freaking 8.

Also, to me she is a very average looking little girl.

  5. Sam Says:

You never see Jett – I can’t remember what he looks like.

  6. Kate Says:

Jett has autism, or something along that spectrum. The Travoltas do not discuss it because most mainstream treatment for Autism is shunned by Scientology.

  7. Sandra Says:

You never see Jett because he is autistic, and the Travolta’s do not acknowledge it.

  8. Care Says:

Sam there are actually rumors as to why that is, I won’t say it, just google him and it will come up. Ella is a very cute little girl.

  9. Sam Says:

Actually not long after I wrote my message I was watching Ellen and John was the guest it had a family photo up in the background with Jett in it so I stand corrected.

  10. Seraphina Says:

I think it is strange to say “I want her to have a long and fruitful career and I really think it is time to introduce her” when Ella is only 8 years old, and shouldn’t be concerned with a career. I assume she is very interested in acting, so it is great that John and Kelly are supporting that, but the road for child stars is very tough. I guess I just don’t understand why parents want to put their kids into showbiz that young!

  11. Bugs Says:

I agree Seraphina. I think the same of Will Smith’s kids. I respect their decision, but while most celebrities struggle to keep their kids’ lives private and away from the spotlight, others actually put them right in front of it. That makes me scratch my head.

They’re cute, adorable, and yes, talented. But honestly, i would wait for them to be at least a bit older and concentrate more on school now and other more important issues, instead of rushing them to be famous themselves.

Just look at Miley Cyrus. Now that’s something i wouldn’t want a daughter of mine to be. Too much fame and scruitiny at such a young age? No thank you.
