Christina Aguilera Looking Forward to Holidays With Max

Seems like 10-month-old Harlow Madden isn’t the only January baby getting "confidence in the legs!" Max Liron Bratman, born just a day later, is also "so close" to walking, says mom Christina Aguilera. Calling her son "a mover and shaker," the 27-year-old songstress tells Us Weekly that Max "is constantly moving, constantly banging on things" — leading her to wonder if perhaps the music gene has been passed on, after all.
"I don’t know what that means; maybe he is a drummer in the making, I don’t know."
Life as a first-time mom continues to exceed Christina’s expectations. "[Max] is just so much fun and I have the best time with him," she explains. "Every single day is a way for me to see life through brand new eyes." With the holidays quickly approaching, Christina says can’t wait to witness the magic of the season for the first time with her son.
"Holidays are huge to me, so I am really looking forward to spending the holidays with my family and being able to appreciate the fact that it is my son’s first Thanksgiving and Christmas."
With the holidays, of course, comes the tradition of food — and Christina says it’s something she’s anxious to share with Max. "My mom loves to cook really southern, good, buttery, salty, delicious, bad-for-your-arteries kind of food, but it is amazing, and I hope to be a cook like that someday because one thing that I look forward to whenever I do go home is tasting my mom’s home cooking," she reveals. "I want to do the same for Max. Cooking is my next goal in life to achieve."
Max is also the first child for Christina’s husband, Jordan Bratman.

I thought Max was Jewish. So why are they celebrating Christmas?

Bella: Max can be considered half Jewish; Christina is Christian (I’m placing her under the umbrella of Christianity because I am unsure of which Christian religion she was raised). Under Judaic Law, Max would be Jewish if his mother is Jewish not the father. I don’t know if Christina converted before or after she and Jordan got married. Either way, they could be celebrating both Hanukkah and Christmas.

I was under the same impression Bela.I read somewhere that they had a Bris for Max so that’s why I thought he was going to be raised as a Jew.May be they did it to honour Max’s background and not as a longterm plan that would impact their daily lives.
I don’t know what branch of Judaism (if any) does the husband identify with,but in some Jewish communities if the mother isn’t a Jew, then the neither is the child unless the baby goes through ritual conversion.

Growing up, my father was Jewish and my mother Catholic. We celebrated both Hanukkah and Christmas.

I’m guessing they honor both sides. They probably do Christmas for her family and then do the jewish traditions for his.
Many couples who have different religious backgrounds will simply expose the child to both and then let the child choose when he gets older.

Yes, many interfaith marriages raise their children that way.A little bit of both traditions on the calendar and allow them to decide later in life. I think it must be fun for the children and it gives both sides of the family a chance to be part of their lives.That’s learning about both or more religions in the family tree. That’s what at least I meant by not being a Jew. He’s not a Jew,he’s a little guy who might be learning about it for the time being and will choose to be Christian,Jewish or neither in the future.

His middle name – Liron means “my song” or “my joy” in Hebrew. Pretty cool…

I thought she was Jewish otherwise why did they have a bris for Max? Maybe she is talking about Hanukkah which happens to fall during the Christian holiday of Christmas this year.

Christina is Catholic, Jordan is Jewish, so they probably celebrate both holidays. She did not convert when she married Jordan, but they do honour both religions. At their wedding they both a catholic priest, and a rabbi.

I was raised christian and my husband is Jewish(secular). I didn’t convert and my son had a bris. We celebrate both holidays and he calls our christmas tree a Hanukkah bush. I suggested calling the tree a “Christmukkah Tree”.
