Salma Hayek Says She’s More Effective As a Mom

Since welcoming daughter Valentina Paloma, 14 months, Salma Hayek has adopted a less-is-more approach to her career, which includes running two production companies. In her pre-mom days, the 42-year-old Academy Award-nominated actress tells the November issue of ELLE she was "a workaholic and a control freak" — but that’s no longer the case. She explains,

"I thought that’s what kept it going. But once that baby was born, I wanted to do nothing but stare at her. I realized I could step outside the business and do a lot less but a lot more effectively."

Salma can next be seen in Cirque du Freak, opening in 2009, as well as in guest spots on 30 Rock. Valentina is her daughter with former fiancé, PPR CEO François-Henri Pinault.
