Eric Mabius Welcomes Second Son, Rylan Jaxson
INF |
Eric Mabius and wife Ivy Sherman have welcomed their second son, Rylan Jaxson Mabius, their rep confirms. Rylan arrived Sunday, December 7th in New York City, weighing in at over 10 lbs. On December 2nd, Eric told Us Weekly,
“My wife is due any minute, so we won’t have time to travel but we’ll go home to Amherst, Mass., for the holidays. She is very, very pregnant! She looks beautiful!”
Rylan joins big brother Maxfield Elliot, 2 ½. The Ugly Betty star and his wife, an interior designer, announced the pregnancy in April. More Betty babies are on the way in January — Rebecca Romijn expects fraternal twin girls, while Christopher Gorham will welcome his third child (and first girl!).

Congrats to both of them! Hope they have a little girl next time!
December 8th, 2008 at 10:36 am
Yeah what happened to the French name? I like the name Rylan though, Jaxson, not so much.
Congrats!
December 8th, 2008 at 10:36 am
Congrats to them!
Not a fan of the names. Jaxson seems spelled wrong. Why the s if there is an x?
December 8th, 2008 at 10:52 am
Sarita: The name is pronounced like Jackson not Jason.
It’s an okay name, not too outrageous. Why do people combine names so much now?

I really love the first name. It’s a little unique but not crazy. I’m really not a fan of the “Jaxson” spelling. I think Jackson just looks so much better.
But, congrats to the family! They must be so happy right now!

I dont know who he is,but finally this year, somebody names their child something I dont cringe when I read it.
December 8th, 2008 at 11:21 am
I like it! Unique without being too “out there.”
December 8th, 2008 at 11:30 am
congratulations! I love the name.
December 8th, 2008 at 11:35 am
Aw! Congrats to them! I love watching Ugly Betty and he’s by far one of the reasons lol.
Rylan is a cute name. I have to agree that I’m not a fan of the ’s’ when there is already an ‘x’. Jaxon and Jackson are both well accepted as names, Jaxon since the 40’s.
Either way, it’s one of the few names I have yet to cringe at this year from the stars.
December 8th, 2008 at 11:41 am
Oh no! They stole my baby name! I have wanted to name a son Rylan since I was in college and lived near the Rylan sugar plant. I hope it doesn’t become trendy now!
December 8th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Several other sources are reporting it as just “Jaxon”, so maybe this is a typo? Hopefully. But I do love Rylan, and congrats to them both!

Eric’s rep confirms that the spelling is in fact Jaxson.

Ems, I know it’s pronounced Jackson or Jaxon, so my question “why the s?” still stands. If there is an x there is no need for an s.

“so my question ‘why the s?’ still stands. If there is an x there is no need for an s.”
because they like it that way? The name “Jax” always reminds me of Jacksonville, Florida.

Love the name Rylan! Congratulations to them!

I like “Rylan”, very cool, but the whole name seems like a tounge twister. I’m sure he’s a very cute baby and will have a lot of fun times with Maxfield.

Must say I love the name, almost sounds like my son’s name- Riley Jackson!

Very Cute family.
December 9th, 2008 at 12:48 am
Even though Rylan is traditionally a boys’ name, my niece’s middle name is Rylann. I think it’s cute.
December 9th, 2008 at 1:47 am
Congrats to Ivy for surviving delivering, not to mention carrying, a 10lbs plus baby!!!!
I love the name especially Rylan, creative yet not ridiculous.
After Jonny Lee Miller went for Buster last week (still shaking my head on that one…), how can anyone complain about Rylan Jaxson???
December 9th, 2008 at 7:21 am
Rylan is the name of one of the main characters in the movie The Last Starfighter. Maybe Eric or Ivy are big fans of cheesy scifi?
December 9th, 2008 at 8:16 am
My sons name is Rylan, I thought it would never be found out…but it is! It is such a cute name!
December 9th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
Congratulations on baby Rylan- 10lbs, wasn’t he big??
December 9th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
Staci… I hvae a Rylan too!! I love my lil man’s name, and hope it doesn’t become popular. But it is nice to know that other people love it enough to use it too! I wanted something unique, but not out there. And Rylan is perfect!
December 10th, 2008 at 1:15 am
Congrats to them! If she had a vaginal delivery, all I can say is OUCH!!!
December 11th, 2008 at 12:27 pm
Another boy for Eric, and the name is very cute. And what’s wrong with having spelling variations of names? I like when some do that, being different.
December 11th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
over 10lbs! Big baby.
Congrats.
I hope they’re settling well in NY. It may be good if they have family in Mass bc I thought Eric didnt want to move to NY.
December 15th, 2008 at 12:03 am
We named our son Rylan and I thought we were the ONLY ones! It gets mixed reactions but I think it’s a great name! congrats to the happy family!

Cynthia Daniel (Elizabeth from Sweet Valley High) has a son called Ryland which is slightly different again. I like both, personally
