Hey Mama! Ashlee Simpson-Wentz Steps Out

Darren/Fame Pictures

In her first public post-baby outing, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz leaves newborn son Bronx Mowgli at home Monday to attend a surprise Fall Out Boy concert at the Troubadour in West Hollywood.

The new mom, 24, cheered on husband Pete Wentz and his band as they performed songs from their upcoming album, Folie à Deux. Of parenthood, Pete said recently,

"It’s different when it actuallyhappens. Your life is 100% different. Before [the baby is born] you’relike, ‘Oh yeah, I think [my life] is gonna have to be different. Butnow, you want it to be different."

She looks great! I don’t get why she’s so pale but she looks so happy! I can’t wait to see pictures of the baby!

  2. Brooke Says:

Ashlee looks very cute. Can’t wait to see pictures of her son.

  3. annie Says:

she looks pale, and like shes nursing! im worried for her, hope its just the light and a bad make up choice?
she does look awfully pale though, so she will be in my prayers!

  4. Brandi Says:

Oh my, looks like Bronx must be a well-fed little one. ;)

Ashlee looks like a tired new mom, but nice to see a smile on her face!

  5. Blue Says:

I think she has more of a porcelain complexion naturally so that’s probably her natural color without tanning beds or spray on tan. I think she looks nice and doesn’t need the fake bake look that most stars take to extreme.

  6. Artemis Says:

She looks adorable! I think its her make up and lighting that makes her look pale, she seems healthy to me.

  7. Sara Says:

    Pale doesn’t equal unhealthy!

  8. kam Says:

Personally I think she looks horrible! However she looks like the real live mom of a newborn!!! Totally normal!!!

  9. Charlie Says:

I think she looks really beatiful and great for having a baby not even 3 weeks ago. I wish her, Pete and little Bronx the best of luck :)

  10. nikki Says:

yes! she has curves, greasy hair and looks pale and tired, exactly the way 99% of new moms do! its nice to see someone who isn’t a robot!

  11. Anne Says:

I love the “compliments” I read on here… “curves, greasy hair, and pale and tired…like a real mom should look”. Can there ever be a post where not a SINGLE person makes a negative comment, not even one cleverly disguised as praise? In my opinion, Ashlee’s hair does not look greasy, and she certainly doesn’t look pale enough to warrant prayer. She looks fine.

I am a red-headed Irish girl and I’ve got porcelain toned skin…I sure hope random strangers aren’t worried about my health when they see me!

  12. halifaxhoney Says:

I think she looks great! I’m a natural redhead and if it wasn’t for some freckles on my arms I’d be that pale.

I think that being natural is way better then some orange spray on tan.

  13. hmm... Says:

she sort of reminds me of Rachel McAdams when she was in “The Notebook”

I don’t think she looks bad at all. It’s probably the camera flash that’s making her look more pale than usual, but I’m sure maintaining her tan has dropped significantly on her list of priorities.

  14. Becky Says:

I am going to take a wild guess at this one…..she’s nursing the baby? ;)

  15. Emily Jones Says:

I think she looks beautiful! If you look at her hair, it’s not greasy, it’s the reflection of the flash on the Paps cameras…which is probably why she looks a bit washed out…I think she looks stunning! I can’t wait to see pics of Bronx!

  16. katie Says:

I have to say, she doesn’t look like herself. I didn’t even believe it was her. It has nothing to do with her weight or complexion, she just looks like a different person. She is probably just exhausted like many of us new moms were at that point!

  17. jo.ann Says:

Finally a celeb that looks normal and not ridiculously skinny after birth

  18. gianna Says:

She looks cute to me, the only difference I see is she has a little extra weight on. But she just had a baby less than 3 weeks ago, so that makes sense. Both simpson sisters have always been so pretty to me.

  19. iluvallbabies Says:

Anne I couldnt agree more with you!

I find it ridiculous that some are “praying for her” because she isnt tanned up and orange!! I seriously laughed out loud at that quote.

And as for the the ruder comments about greasy hair, – you should be ashamed of yourself thinking its ok to write that about a new mum (anyone infact!). Only write what you would feel comfortable saying to the persons face!

  20. Kait Says:

I understand that she’s nursing the baby, but I find it so unflattering and trashy to just keep your bosom at the top of the blouse that way. You can get a nice button-up shirt and cover it up. It’s just not right in any situation to be so flashy.

With all that out, she does look extremely healthy for being 3 weeks almost after her son’s birth.

  21. Aelys Says:

She looks great. I saw other pictures from that night on another site, face shots, and her face looks different, more grown up. But she looks great.

  22. Bo Says:

I looked pale after giving birth as I lost a lot of blood and had to be on iron tablets for a couple of months. Maybe it’s the same for Ashlee? Give her a break, she’s just had a baby. I’m assuming the ones who give her negative comments are not mothers themselves!

  23. Grace Says:

I think everyone who has made any negative comment about Ashlee, or any other new mother, should be ashamed! How would you like it if some total stranger said such foul things about you 3 weeks after giving birth?!
No new mother should have to justify how she looks to anyone! Fat, skinny, pale, greasy…please! Who the hell cares?!
For those making comments who are parents – think how you looked and felt 3 weeks postpartum and imagine how your confidence would have been crushed by such nasty words.
And as for those ‘thank god – she looks like a real mom should look’ comments…two weeks after giving birth to my son (now 21 months) I was back in my pre-baby jeans (UK size 10, US size 4) and I didn’t do anything regimental and ‘celebrity’ to get there. I ate like a trooper and nursed my son, hardly slept, spent a lot of time on the sofa just holding my baby. My friend gave birth 5 days after me and did the same, and she still carries a little baby weight. Everyone is different and it makes no difference to your parenting skills, which is what matters as a new parent. Stop being so bloody judgemental!

I’m just happy to see Ashlee out and about and smiling! Now I can’t wait to see Bronx!

  24. mary Says:

I must say I’m surprised that many of these comments have been allowed through considering the first rule about insulting a person’s appearance. I’m not a fan of her, but I think she looks absolutely amazing and so happy!

  25. CTBmom Says:

I think she looks good, and she looks happy. I can’t wait to see pics of little Bronx…I bet he’s a cutie.

  26. Angel Says:

I think Ashley looks amazing. She has a much softer look about her and she looks very happy with a genuine smile on her face. Beautiful!

  27. Lily Says:

I really don’t think it’s necessary to start a vigil due to her appearence. The woman next to her seems to have the same complexion so unless color is contagious, she’s fine.

Like any new mom, she was probably looking forward to a few hours of adult time and wanted to support her husband. Unfortunately, it’s more important for the public to critique her appearence not even three weeks after giving birth.

    Sad.

  28. Kayla Says:

I think she looks really pretty “pale”. I love it when celebs don’t do the fake tan stuff because they show people not-tan can be pretty, too. (which is great for us really really white people who don’t want to be orange!)

I cannot wait to see Bronx!! But I can understand not taking him out yet…he’s probably very tiny still.

  29. brandi c. Says:

prayers? she’s fine! she looks perfectly normal!

  30. SARA Says:

Oh my,I think some of you is just too touchy!”pale” is not an offensive thing to say,It’s just a simple observation! Not all the things are “cute” “stunning”.Stop being aggressive! However Ash looks great, even If she’s a bit pale. She looks HAPPY and this is the most important thing, more important of her look! Can’t wait to see a pic of her son

  31. Nicole Says:

I think the people who are so up in arms about others comments need to chill. Everyone has the right to their opinion! No one was being mean spitited. How interesting would any site be if it were just non-stop celeb praise? I think it’s just plain immature to go ballistic because someone isn’t all “Like OMG I love her so much. I wish I could be so pretty.” Not everyone worships at someone’s alter merely because they are famous, and not everyone is afraid to give their honest opinion.

  32. Lily Says:

Comments in defense of Ash are definitely not what I’d consider “ballistic.”

Yes, everyone has the right to their opinion but praying for her because she’s pale? That’s just comical.

After giving birth, the last thing I’d want to hear is someone telling me about my greasy hair and the fact that I look worn out. I think her exhaustion is pretty evident to her when she’s up all hours of the night, caring for her newborn son.

  33. Des Says:

Aww, she looks great! It’s almost winter, even in CA…..I’m pale as heck too. Not to mention, camera flash makes your hair shiny and your face bright/pale….any amount of added contrast (if the photog shot RAW, they definitely added contrast) and the face looks even brighter.

  34. J Says:

Nicole it would be boring if it was a celeb love fest here, but at the same time some people have foot in mouth syndrome regarding complining how celebs look, how they spend money, how they carry their kids in baby carriers, etc. It’s the same complaints over and over from some of the same people and tht’s a little boring as well.

Maybe these “defenders” have a point when they want to complaining to stop for once.

  35. ERICKA Says:

Did anyone stop to think that she’s fair skinned anyway? That ontop of it being dark, flash, dark clothes, red hair…adds to the fairness. She doesn’t look sick to me at all…she looks beautiful!

  36. DJohnson Says:

You know what I love about this picture, she does look a little rough, but she looks real! Im so tired of seeing stars out the day after the give birth looking like they hadn’t missed a minute of sleep and looking radiant and glowing as ever. If you look at other pics from the night, it is a breath of fresh air, she looks like she actually wakes up at night with the new baby herself! I think its great. :)

  37. terri Says:

Ashlee’s red hair comes from a bottle, but I believe that the complexion is probably natural, though a little paler than usual thanks to the season and not getting out much. She looks great.

  38. gail Says:

    good luck to ashlee
