I Am Not a Paper Cup: But I Look Like One!
![]() |
I’m a sucker for witty consumer products like this. The I Am Not a Paper Cup cup ($20) looks just like an everyday disposable coffeecup, but is actually a porcelain mug with a silicone lid. It doesn’t have a handle like regular mugs, but the double-wall insulates the hot liquid and keeps your fingers from getting burned by the hot coffee (just don’t hold it from the top). The lid needs slight finessing to fit on (it doesn’t just snap on like plastic lids), but once it’s on, it’s on.
Unfortunately, just like a white paper cup, the matte surface picks up newsprint from your fingers, but it does wash off. You may get dirty looks from greener-than-thou shoppers at the farmer’s market, but you’ll know that you’re sipping your java from a reusable mug!
If you’re into clever mugs that pose as something else, also check out the New York Coffee Cup ($12) and the 2-Carat Cup ($15).
