Taylor and Natalie Hanson Welcome Son Viggo Moriah
AXELLE/BAUER-GRIFFIN |
It’s a boy! Taylor Hanson, the middle brother of pop-rock group Hanson, and his wife Natalie Hanson welcomed their fourth child, a son named Viggo Moriah Hanson, on Tuesday, December 9th. The baby was born in Tulsa, Okla., weighing in at 8 lbs., 5 oz.
"Viggo is doing great. He is the perfect early Christmas gift," the couple said. "We look forward to being home to enjoy the holidays with him and his very excited brothers and sister."
Taylor, 25, and Natalie, 24, who announced they were expecting in August, are also parents to Jordan Ezra, 6, Penelope Anne, 3 ½, and River Samuel, 2. In total, the growing Hanson family also includes their cousins: guitarist Isaac, 28, and his wife Nikki have two boys, Clarke Everett, 20 months, and James Monroe, 5 months, while drummer Zac, 23, and his wife Kate have son John Ira Shepherd, 6 months.

I am officially over Hanson’s kids names. Congrats to them, but ick.
December 10th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
Why do the Hansen bros have so many kids? Their real young. And I can’t believe a 25 & 24 year old couple already have four kids!!! I’m 25 & barely have my first, a 3 month old!
December 10th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
four kids in six years, starting at age 18 and 19. I sure hope Hanson’s career continues to go well.
December 10th, 2008 at 6:08 pm
That is a great Christmas gift! I wish we could see more of his other children. Love how they are going for a bigger celeb family! I love Hanson.
December 10th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
Apparently they aren’t aware of the fact that Moriah is a girl’s name.
December 10th, 2008 at 6:12 pm
Six boys!! Poor Penelope needs a sister or a girl cousin at least!
December 10th, 2008 at 6:23 pm
Viggo Moriah? What?
December 10th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
I know my opinion matters none but as a Hanson fan I have loved the names they’ve chosen for all their kids but I just can’t wrap my head around this one in any way, shape or form. Going to have to go look up what each name means…they tend to sometimes go with religious names, is Moriah biblical?
December 10th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
I thought most of the kids go by their middle names…therefore with this little boy be stuck with Moriah (as in like Mariah)?? Cause that just doesn’t sound right! But Viggo (which is what they referred to him) is cute.
December 10th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
Viggo Moriah? Hmm, interesting name and I have no idea what it means! Hehe.
Wow, 4 kids already and Taylor is only 25 years old.
December 10th, 2008 at 6:48 pm
Viggo??????????? Is this pronounced the way it’s spelled? And isn’t a Moriah a girl name? (Traditionally?) I don’t know…not liking the name at alllll. I usually like their names. This is just…..I have no words. I was so excited to hear the name…
i think i’ll end this comment here…
December 10th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
Congratulations to Taylor and Natalie. Their daughter Penny is such a girly girl though-totally into pink and Barbies and Disney princesses. I hope she gets a sister or girl cousin soon.
December 10th, 2008 at 6:55 pm
WOW! 25 years old and 4 kids? I’m the same age and not even in a serious relationship, LOL.
I’m sure the baby is going to be cute!
December 10th, 2008 at 6:57 pm
Moriah is a Biblical name, it is generally considered the location of the binding of Isaac and it is another name for the Temple Mount in Jerusalem….however, I have only ever seen this name on a little girl.
December 10th, 2008 at 6:57 pm
Awww, my heart breaks for penelope! No other little girl to play with.
I’m not so sure I like the name.
December 10th, 2008 at 6:59 pm
The name remembers me of The Lord of the Rings. Viggo Mortensen played Aragorn, and at one point in the story, the characters were in the mines of Moria.
I like the name though. I don’t know why but I kinda like. It’s not the kind of name that I was expecting at all though.
Congrats!
December 10th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
Viggo means battle or war-like. It wouldn’t be my first pick but I thinks it is a strong name. Moriah on the other hand is very much a girls name which means god is my teacher. I too too loved all the other Hanson kids names but I am not so sure about this one. I hope he goes by Viggo though
December 10th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
I’m not a fan of the name at all, but I haven’t liked the names Zac and Isaac’s latest kids had either. Oh well, it doesn’t matter as long as everyone is healthy!
December 10th, 2008 at 7:02 pm
Maybe he’s a huge Lord of The Rings fan and really like Viggo Mortensen.
December 10th, 2008 at 7:09 pm
Finally!
I was waiting for Natalie to give birth, so this is great news. I wasn’t so sure about the name, when I first heard that would be his name. But, I actually kind of like it. It’s kind of cute. Congratulations to Taylor, Natalie, and the rest of the Hanson family.
Another beautiful addition!
December 10th, 2008 at 7:11 pm
I like all their kids names, but not this one so much. And I agree, Penelope needs a girl playmate! I’m sure she’ll have more chances for one as I don’t think any of the brothers are done with having kids!
December 10th, 2008 at 7:18 pm
i personally love the name! (it is one of my sons middle names- louie viggo) and i had all four of my children by 23, there were no twins, just four healthy kids, aged 4,3,2 and newborn. Congrats to a young family!!!
December 10th, 2008 at 7:19 pm
I think its so great that they have all those cousins so close in age to each other! Makes for a fun tour bus!
But Moriah is a lame name for a boy. Viggo is okay though.
December 10th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
I only expected something unique from them, and they didn’t fail! I do love Viggo, it’s a cute name. Ezra, Penelope, River and Viggo Hanson. Cute!
December 10th, 2008 at 7:35 pm
Moriah is the name of a mountain mentioned in the Bible.
December 10th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
Four kids at 25 years old, no thanks. lol. Congrats to the family though.
December 10th, 2008 at 8:02 pm
I can’t believe he’s only 25 and has four kids already! It’s hard to picture any of them as dads cause I always think of them from their “Mmmm…Bop” days.
But congrats to them!
December 10th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
Congrats to them!
Viggo reminds me of the actor Viggo Mortenson (not sure how to spell his last name…).
Their naming style seems to be very eclectic/all over the map: Jordan Ezra seems very Biblical, while Penelope seems very girly, almost princess-y, while River is more “hippie” and nature. Consequently, I didn’t know what kind of name to expect with this baby!
With the addition of baby Viggo, there are now FIVE children ages 2 and younger for the Hanson Brothers!
December 10th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
They’re breaking the Hanson tradition of boys going by their middle names!
I love this family, though, I’m sure he’ll be beautiful.
December 10th, 2008 at 8:42 pm
Every time I hear the name Viggo (or some derivative thereof) all I can think of is the grouchy looking bad guy from Ghostbusters 2.
Congrats on the new arrival just the same!
December 10th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
*sigh* I guess that means Taylor won’t fall in love with me, huh? It seems he has so many beautiful people in his life; Viggo and all of the Hansons are so lucky!
December 10th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
Yuck! That is one of the ugliest names. That rhyhmes with ‘jiggo’ and sounds like jiggly. You can just imagine what he will be called at school. What is wrong with parents? Viggo, Peanut, Buster? Why don’t they just call their kid Penis!?
December 10th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Dang! I was so gonna name my son viggo moriah. Now I have 2 weeks to find a new name. Sheesh! Lol. Ha.
Well, he’s creative for sure, but he is most certainly sure to be a cute baby from the looks of Taylor’s others! Yay babies!
December 10th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
There are a few people that are having early holiday presents this year
Another boy, congrats! 4 kids at 25. They’ll be catching up to the Jolie-Pitts soon..and about 10 years ahead haha.
December 10th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
The Hanson clan is certainly expanding. I bet the holidays are a blast!!
I can’t imagine having four kids right now. Taylor and I are the same age and I’m due with number two in a couple of months. Four would be a handful!
December 10th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
Aww! I know how Penny feels, I have three brothers as well. Though, I’m the baby. The door has been thrown wide open for getting away with practically anything. Get in there kiddo and blame it on one of the boys!
December 10th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
I like Viggo. As others have said Moriah sounds like a girl’s name.
December 10th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
Congradulations!
It certainly is a great Christmas gift! And Viggo reminds me of Viggo Mortensen
December 10th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
Viggo just reminds me of Ghostbusters 2. LOL. I laugh when i hear that name. Wow, this family sure pops out the boys…can’t believe all of them have had boys and there is only 1 girl in the midst. crazy!
December 10th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
Well as for Penelope, I have four kids, and my daughter is also #2, with only brothers. My oldest is 5, I am 35, and I don’t think I have it in me to go for a fifth. Of course I’d like a sister for her, but come on, someone reassure me that all brothers is ok?!? BTW,take a good long look at Taylor. Can you blame Natalie? WOW!
December 11th, 2008 at 12:47 am
Definitely this is a great Christmas gift for their family.
December 11th, 2008 at 12:51 am
Take a good look at Natalie….can you blame Taylor??!!
December 11th, 2008 at 2:17 am
I think it is great that they are having the kids at an average age. They will be able to enjoy their children and grandchildren! I would be more concerned with celebs having kids after 40..at that age they will be lucky to see them off to college.
December 11th, 2008 at 2:19 am
I’m sure they were aware that Moriah is more female, but hey, what about my parents and all the other Bobbi’s, Randi’s, Kyle’s and any other name that a girl has been named?
He will be going by Viggo, so not many people will really be questioning his middle name once he gets older. If they do, he can just say his parents were very eclectic in their choosing of his name.
December 11th, 2008 at 2:33 am
Well now that someone’s said that about Moriah being a mountain mentioned in the Bible, I think it’s ponounced Moore-ah, not More-eye-ah. Still, Viggo is just…weird. It doesn’t fit with his brothers or sister’s names. Anyway, Congrats to Taylor and Natalie on their third baby boy! Looks like he weighed an ounce less than his cousin Shepherd.
December 11th, 2008 at 2:46 am
wow, they sure started early!
December 11th, 2008 at 3:07 am
OMG im the only girl in my family. I have 3 brothers and 7 male cousins that i grew up with. Man.. i know guys like the back of my hand. I wish i had some female influence though, i kinda grew up tomboyish :\
December 11th, 2008 at 3:59 am
Moriah is actually a place name in the bible so it doesn’t really have a “gender”. People have used it as a girl’s name, but it can be for boys too. I don’t ever see it catching on because of the popularity of Mariah. Viggo Moriah is so unusual compared to the other names. I hope we get more details about how they chose the name.
December 11th, 2008 at 8:44 am
Congrats to them!Pen must feels outnumbered with all the boys around!
I have a question that I wanted to ask a lot of time ago but I’ve always forgotten it:All the americans have a middle name? Why is so important for you?I’m italian and here in Italy only a few people have a middle name.My name is only Sara I don’t have a middle name. But I noticed one thing:when a celeb call a child with only one name(for example Levi)you always ask:but he does not have a middle name?So I deduced from that the importance of the middle name in the USA.I know that Harlow Winter Kate for example is cuter than only Harlow but when you call your child you say:”Harlow” not “Harlow Winter Kate together!and so,why is so important for you????
December 11th, 2008 at 10:24 am
Moriah is a name of a mountian in the bible, congrats on the new addition!
December 11th, 2008 at 10:47 am
Chelsea – they already broke that tradition with River. He goes by his first name rather than his middle!
Congrats to Taylor, Natalie, Ezra, Penny, River, and welcome Viggo! I’m sure you’re just as cute as your siblings!
December 11th, 2008 at 10:55 am
SARA,
In the same way that not having a middle name is traditional in your country, in the U.S. we usually do have one or more middle names; just the way it is. Sometimes, but not always of course, the middle name can have a special meaning or be a family name that you would like to pass to your children. A name just seems more complete with a middle name (just my opinion of course).
December 11th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
MOST of the boys in the family go by their middle name, but not ALL. Zac is actually Zachary Walker, and River is River Samuel; the rest of them go by middle names. If they called him Viggo in the press release (“Viggo is doing great”), I’m sure that’s what they’re planning to call him.
Very interesting name choice! I haven’t been a fan of any of them to start out, but all of them have grown on me after a while (especially Everett)
December 11th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
ohhh! congratulations to them! four kids under six~ i’m a little jealous~ wish i had the money to support so many beautiful little children!
December 11th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Wonderful name!!! It’ll take some getting used too, but the Hanson clan is known to give each of their child different and unique names, they really treat them as individuals.
December 11th, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Congrats to them and excellent name choice! But then again, I’m a bit biased, as I too have a little Viggo Abel myself
.
December 11th, 2008 at 5:14 pm
To close to Viggo Mortensen…maybe they are a fan? lol
December 11th, 2008 at 6:48 pm
4 children at 24 + 25 is such a huge responsibility for such young shoulders. Contrary to another commentator’s point of view, I do not think 4 kids at 24 is “average”.
I wish them the absolute best of luck. It’s wonderful to see a child star turn into such a seemingly responsible adult.
December 11th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
The average people that age don’t have the money in their early to mid twenties to have four children. They are just lucky enough to have the funds to support so many kids.
December 11th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
The name Viggo Moriah is very unique and I’m getting used to it. Taylor and Natalie have a beautiful family so congratulations to them on the new addition. Who cares how young they are, it’s their choice to have children at whatever age they want.
December 11th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
If you don’t think having 2-4 kids in your early 20’s is “average”, never visit Oklahoma. Or most places in the Midwest, for that matter. It won’t break our hearts, we don’t want you and your arrogance, anyway.
These guys are “friends of friends” and I know that when their career was at their highest, the money was saved and part of it very, very wisely invested. They won’t have any problems. Plus, they have great foundations of faith and are much, much wiser than a lot of the “Hollywood elite” that nobody blinks at having children right now.
December 12th, 2008 at 1:30 am
According to babynamesworld.com, Moriah is a female name. An odd choice, to be sure, but it could have been Tiffany.
December 12th, 2008 at 2:45 am
I can’t help but have mixed feelings of jealousy and happiness! lol. Natalie’s a lucky girl. I may think 4 kids would be a lot at my age, but not if I were in their family with that husband! haha. I’m sure before Natalie met Taylor she didn’t think she’d have 4 kids by now either. Life throws you curves. Congrats to the family!
December 12th, 2008 at 10:08 am
Wow these Hanson boys and their wives/girlfriends (at the time) are more busy than a bunch of rabbits!!! Congrats to them all.
December 12th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
Congratulations to the Hanson family on their newborn baby boy
I love that the little one has been named Viggo – how cool is that!
December 14th, 2008 at 1:26 am
Viggo is a Danish name, and the Hanson’s have Danish roots on their father’s side. I wish more celebrity babies had ethnic names like Viggo.
December 15th, 2008 at 2:33 am
Congrats to the happy family. Dec. is the greatest month to have a baby. I have 2 of 4 children born in Dec. (one is 31 and the other is 14). What wonderful Christmas “presents”. the best kind!! The oldest is a girl; youngest is a boy.. Babies are blessings!!My other 2 are also a boy and a girl..
December 16th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
Congratulations to Taylor and Natalie! I love the name Viggo.
December 17th, 2008 at 12:07 am
It’s awesome that they wish to have a large family, I mean that’s what they grew up with, them and their 4 other siblings on tour. They are young, but I mean they do things at their own pace — they started a band when Zac was 6! Some people speculate their growing families are due to religious beliefs, and there is a kernel of truth there, but considering their lifestyle, they would have to be having children purely for the love of being parents and having the means to do so
I found this video on Youtube/People.com that shows all of the kids, with Viggo in Natalie’s belly, just about a month ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNnvuh-Hvbo
January 17th, 2009 at 12:01 am
I love how everyone is an expert on how many kids a person should have based on something as silly as age…
Can’t you just say “congratulations” and move on with your own life? They’re young, happy and in-love with families GOOD FOR THEM!
February 26th, 2009 at 7:50 pm
Apparently you all didn’t know that all those boys came from a large family…7 kids! of course they want to have babies galore – its what they are used to! Names on the other hand…god bless em, but they can’t name em.
June 22nd, 2009 at 11:20 am
I think it’s great that they have so many kids. They seem happy with their life style and way to go for them!
