Usher Welcomes Second Son, Naveid Ely
Flynet |
Usher and wife Tameka Foster have welcomed their second son together. Naveid Ely Raymond was born at 2:33 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10th, weighing in at 5 lbs., 13 oz. Usher’s rep tells Us Weekly,
“Tameka and the baby are doing fine.”
Proud papa Usher was reportedly at his wife’s side during the delivery. Their new baby joins big brother Usher V, aka Cinco, who recently celebrated his first birthday, as well as Tameka’s sons from a previous relationship.
The pregnancy was announced in September, with Usher, 30, confirming the sex of the baby in November. Tameka’s due date had been this coming Monday, December 15th.

Awwwww I’m sure this baby is a cutie just like their other sons.
I remember reading a while back that Tameka “hates” girls. I’m sure she probably didn’t mean it in that sense though

December 11th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
Congrats to the whole family (I love the baby’s name, btw)!
two babies one year apart ~ that’s absolutely crazy (I’m in no sense calling them or anyone crazy for having children a year apart, but, come on, life has to be a bit crazy with two babies!) and i’m sure they’re going to love every second of their wild life.
December 11th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
It’s definitely a different name but I’m a fan for unique names. I wish them the best….
What is everyone’s thoughts…do we think they will have anymore or will little baby Naviyd be the baby of the family?!
December 11th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
Congrats to them.
Not a fan of Naviyd but love Ely.
December 11th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Congrats to the couple on their newborn baby boy – but what’s his name again????
I have to wonder why people do that to children, maybe they’re afraid that their offspring won’t stand out by personality alone.
Then again…they would have hardly have named him John or Sebastian, or even Zuma
December 11th, 2008 at 3:41 pm
Congratulations to Usher, Tameka, Cinco and all other brothers!
I quite like the name Naviyd, it’s unusual without raising eyebrows.
December 11th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
Congrats to the couple, Usher is so cute, so I’m sure this new addition will be too! I don’t like the name, but I do like the shortened ‘Nav’, I think that’s really cute. Can’t wait to see the little fella! Mum must be feeling a little overwhelmed now, six boys in her house, that’s just crazy!
December 11th, 2008 at 3:49 pm
Congrats!
How do you pronounce Naviyd?
December 11th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
I like Naviyd. Its arabic in origins, alot of asian (as in Indian and Pakistani) men have this name, very popular choice.
December 11th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
How is it pronounced?
It’s unusual, but clearly a special name to them. Does it come from a certain ethnicity?
December 11th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Congrats! I kinda like the name Naviyd. It’s very unusual but looks good, as well. Anyone want to take a stab at how to pronounce it? I’m thinking Nav-Eed, but I could be off the mark.
December 11th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Love this name! It’s unique and not too weird!Congrats!I love Usher’s music!
December 11th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
It’s pronounced nah-VEED. And I would think Ely is pronounced just like Eli (EE-lye), but I could be wrong?
December 11th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
My super cool 7 year old Nephew is called, Ely. Just like Eli is said. I have never seen another person with that spelling. I love Usher. Best wishes!
December 11th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Naviyd is a persian/iranian name meaning “best wishes”
Very sweet meaning.
December 11th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
Thanks, Noelle!
Now I REALLY like the name. Very cool!
December 11th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
He named the baby after Christmas in Spanish. A few months ago he quoted, “The baby will be such a great early Christmas present!”
December 11th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
Feliz Navidad is Merry Christmas in Spanish. More likely it is the persian/iranian version than a liberal take on navidad. Congrats to the family!!!
December 11th, 2008 at 7:21 pm
oh… okay… and how is ely pronounced?
December 11th, 2008 at 7:25 pm

December 11th, 2008 at 7:41 pm

We saw them last night at Northside Hospital in Atlanta. They were just leaving the Labor & Delivery area. Not sure if they were heading home or moving to the family center in the hospital.
December 13th, 2008 at 2:14 pm
Boy, Tameka’s making sure the checks don’t stop coming in. Good luck though.

December 15th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
It looks like it is a creative spelling of the name Naveed, which is pronouned exactly as it looks. It is my husband’s name, and extremely popular in the middle East & India. The name means “greatest wishes.”
December 16th, 2008 at 9:54 am
Congrats Usher! I’m so excited for you. You are the best!
