"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

Pete Wentz Says Public Will See Bronx ‘When It Makes Sense’

Those who anxiously waited for Pete and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz to confirm their pregnancy, endured nine months watching Ashlee’s belly grow, looked forward to hearing the baby’s name following the birth, and are now counting the days until baby Bronx Mowgli makes an appearance, will have to wait a bit longer! Taking to his blog to discuss their choice to forego a photo shoot, Pete — who reveals that they have been offered "mounds and mounds of money by mags from here to Guam" — shares that the new family is not yet ready to show Bronx to the world.

While both Pete and Ashlee respect the decision of other celebrity couples to introduce their newborns with a magazine spread, they have instead decided to make a conscious effort to shield their baby boy from the spotlight, at least initially. They realize the paparazzi is out there, waiting to snap Bronx’s first photo, explains the Fall Out Boy bassist.

"There is a danger when there are cameras being held over walls and into our backyard. We are followed day and night and that was fine when it was us, but we are going to do our best to shelter Bronx from that as much as possible. It’s scary to be followed by 10 cars to your home."

Admitting that he "understand[s] the curiosity," but is unable to fathom "the viciousness that comes along with it," Pete reveals that the decision to not introduce Bronx is only temporary, as the proud parents can’t wait to show him off. In the future, "when it makes sense," the trio will venture out together as a family and "Bronx will be out in the world." Until then, however, Pete can’t help but provide his fans with a tease as to who his son takes after!

"Trust me, he’s cute. He looks like his mommy."

  1. Ashley Says:

I think that Bronx is going to have a really different look, he is bound to have a well defined chin and jaw line. I’m looking forward to seeing their little guy.

  2. Erica Says:

I can’t wait to see him, but I totally understand where they’re coming from wanting to protect him as much as they can. I bet he’s gorgeous!

  3. Kate Says:

I wonder if Bronx has Ashlee’s old nose.

  4. tnmommy Says:

I can understand them wanting to protect Bronx from the more assertive photogs, but it seems a little odd considering the stories that have been circulating about him and Ashlee trying to sell the pictures to the mags and how they were turning down offers because they weren’t enough money. And is it just me, or is he quoting exactly what Brad Pitt said about photos of his twins?

  5. brooklyn Says:

Kate, i don’t know if you were making a joke, but you made me laugh…that was pretty funny!

I am surprised that Pete says they have had numerous offers to buy their sons’ pics…they are not that big of celebrities…are there actually that many people out there who are dying to see pics of their baby?

  6. Jenny Says:

Kate, I was actually thinking the same thing. If Bronx looks like Ashlee he may have her old bigger nose. But I’m sure he is cute anyway.

By the way, isn’t both Pete and Aslee kind of short? The baby might be small too.

  7. kaya Says:

haha, those comments crack me up!
with all due respect…but “magazines from here to guam”? really, pete? I even read he was quoting brad pitt, saying he realized there was this “bounty”. I think they’re taking themselves way too seriously. Sure, they’re famous and I’m also sure there are paps after them, but they’re not exactly known as intensely private superstars, are they? I actually read noone was offering them “enough” money…

  8. Stephany Says:

Great! I’m not the only one! Haha, while I love Pete and Ashlee, they really aren’t that big of celebrities. I honestly don’t think tons and tons of magazines are itching to be first-pickings in a photo spread.

But I am anxious to see baby Bronx! I’m sure he’s cute!

  9. Max'sMom Says:

Sometimes newborn develop baby acne or red blotches, maybe they are waiting for that to clear up.
They might also be waiting for a better magazine offer…I really doubt that the offers are pouring in as he claims.

  10. phoebe Says:

I think you guys are right, I’ve read various things about them not getting offers, or not getting offers they consider big enough. I mean, congrats and all that, but they’re not massively famous in an a-list way so they for sure won’t be attracting offers like the JP’s or Suri. Personally, I suspect Pete is hyping up some interest with these comments.

  11. Brandi Says:

I have to disagree, I bet they are getting offers. If people like (and no offense meant, because I loved their show) The Sutters can get on the cover of In Touch or Life’s Style then why wouldn’t Pete and Ashlee be able to? They are both famous in their own rights. Fall Out Boy has a new album coming out soon so it would be the perfect promotion. Besides I think Pete and Ashlees wedding was on the cover of People or Us Magazine so I would think there is definitely an interest. They are both very public personas from what I have seen, I think if they wanted to show their baby we would have seen Bronx by now.

  12. shidley Says:

There were some hilarious comments made on Chelsea Handler’s show the other night regarding Pete’s purported quote of “We’re getting offers from here to Guam”…

I dunno, I tend to side with the ‘wishful thinking’ group. This couple, IMHO, isn’t all that interesting whereas star quality goes.

  13. Sammy-xx Says:

Brandi, I was just about to say the same thing. You took the words out of my mouth.
Magazines will never saw no to an exclusive no matter who it is on. If reality ’stars’ can get deals then to successful celebs will absolutely be getting offers. Especially with Folie a Deux out today.

I personally cannot wait to see baby Bronx. I am a huge fan of Fall out Boy and think Ashlee is great.

  14. brooklyn Says:

Hasn’t the Sutter’s mag covers been sort of ongoing from the beginning? Do they have some sort of a contract with mag’s —show/wedding/preg/birth…etc???

  15. SH Says:

    Sammyxx –
    “successful celebs” ?-
depends on who you talk to i think…

  16. melba Says:

Just wanted to say that I really quite like the name Bronx…the middle name I am not too fond of, but it isn’t that bad at all. Plus middle names aren’t really used/stated after the infant stage, now really?

I only wanted to put in my 2c b/c it seems no one has said they liked the name choice, and rather it is critised.

It is unique, masculine and a lovely name. And you have to love an X in a name!
