Adam Sandler’s Dreams ‘All Came True’

As a young, up-and-coming actor Adam Sandler had an idea of what his life might one day be like. “I wanted to go to Hollywood, become a huge star, live in a mansion with nothing but chicks,” he revealed Monday on The Late Show with David Letterman, “and it all came true.” Those “chicks,” of course, might not be the kind that he initially envisioned! Dad to Sadie Madison, 2 ½, and new baby Sunny Madeline, 6 weeks, with wife Jackie, Adam noted that even the family dog is a girl. “I have it all happening,” he said. As for his eldest daughter, life as a big sister has been “shocking.”
“You feel like you cheated on your first kid [when you have a second]. She acts kind of like that. She’ll come up to me and ask, ‘What did you do last night?’ Just hung out. ‘Who were you with?’ You know, was with that new little thing in the house. ‘Was she cool?’”
Adam, 42, admitted that while he and Jackie feel that Sunny is “a cute name,” his own mom is not as enthusiastic. “‘That’s a nickname,’ she kept saying,” Adam revealed. “‘You’ve got to give your child a real, proper name…if you want to call her Sunny, that’s fine, but a real name!’” In an effort to “take care of Mom-Mom” Adam joked that the couple “put down Sunday Night Football” on Sunny’s birth certificate. Next up for Adam is the more family-friendly film Bedtime Stories, and his decision to take the role is directly tied to his most important role of all — dad!
“I was watching television with my little daughter, and I was like, ‘This is so disgusting, what is on television? It’s smutty, it’s gross.’ And then I realized that it was one of my movies. So I said we’ve got to make a nice movie for the children.”
Bedtime Stories opens December 25th.

I think it’s hilarious what he said about his movie, because I kind of agree. I’m not a big fan of most of his movies, and obviously, I don’t know him personally, but from what I can gather, he sounds like a great person, husband, and father.

I agree with his mom. Still, he seems like a good guy, even if I’m not much of a fan of his movies. Other than the Wedding Singer, which is great.

If the girls ever want to see some of his tamer work before they’re of legal age, they could always watch old The Cosby Show episodes he was in, when he was one of Theo’s high school buddies…;)

Adam was on Regis and Kelly on Tuesday talking about his new movie and explained the reasons behinds his daughters’ names!!
The “S” in Sadie and Sunny is for his late dad, Stanley.
The “M” in Madison and Madelyn are for his wife’s dad or grandfather (I can’t remember!)

haha, I love that he can joke about his own movies. I watched Zohan recently and… um, yeah. But “50 first dates” was really sweet!

I love Adam! I agree with his mom that Sunny is more of a nickname and I would not do that as my child’s official first name. I like how he made light of it with a joke though. And too funny about thinking his own movie was disgusting! I love Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates but could do without some of his others.

Both of my Grandma’s were like that about me and my sisters names. My mum and dad wanted Beccy, but they said it had to be Rebecca. Rebecca it was. With me my parents just wanted Sammy but no that’s not a girls names that’s a boys name, so Samantha it was. Neither of us get called Rebecca or Samantha by anyone apart from our Grans.
The majority of Adams films aren’t that great for kids but there is a few that maybe in 10 years time maybe Sadie could watch.
