Kate Winslet: ‘Everything is About My Children’

Calling motherhood both “lovely and exhausting,” actress Kate Winslet says it’s the simple times she spends with Mia Honey, 8, and Joe Alfie, 5, which bring her the most happiness. “Aside from my work, which I love, my favorite type of day is going on a picnic with my children or with [husband] Sam [Mendes], or with the whole family,” she explains. “I love being a mum.” The 33-year-old actress — like so many moms before her — feels that her priorities in life “completely shifted” after her children were born.
“Mia and Joe are the most important thing in my world and that’s that. Everything is about my children — going swimming, to the park, the zoo or some other outing.”
Sam also earns high marks from Kate, who raves that the couple are “unbelievably happy” together. “He’s a good man…He is a wonderful father, which is obviously very important to me,” she adds.
Mia is Kate’s daughter with ex-husband Jim Threapleton; she has been married to Sam since 2003. She recently received two Golden Globe nominations for Revolutionary Road and The Reader, both of which hit theaters in the coming weeks.

I say this respectfully… but after people have kids, doesn’t their life always revolve around their children?!? And no offense to anybody but I bet Kate has at least 2 nannies and most people don’t have any, so its not like she is a super- mom who is better than everybody else. I’m sure she is a great mom, but people always expect celebs to be much better parents than everybody else.

I have to say, even though Kate may get some help, she is a very hands on mother, and her life revolves around her children. She didn’t do many films when her children were born, but now they’re older, she’s started to do more and seems very content with how things are going at the moment! P.s. She seems very in love with Sam, having looked them up on IMBD.

To Mary: Unfortunately making your children a priority after their birth is NOT a priority for all mothers. I know plenty of mothers that would rather do their own thing and the kids come second. I see it all the time. I commend Kate for making her life about her children, as it should be.
