Ashlee Simpson-Wentz Keeps the Focus on Bronx

Paul Warner/WireImage

While hosting a New Years Eve party at Pure nightclub in Las Vegas, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz dished on life with Bronx Mowgli, 6 weeks. “All my focus is on my son,” Ashlee says. “Every day, being a better mom and learning with him…It’s an incredible experience.” Pete concurs, adding,

“It’s kind of cool to go back to someone else and care for someone and have responsibility….It’s one of the few aspects of life where the clichés are totally true.”

With a new year on the horizon, the new parents have much to look forward to. “Watching Bronx discover life” is at the top of Ashlee’s list, including milestones like ”the first time he laughs” and “the first time he crawls.” The new year also brings with it resolutions, and Pete and Ashlee’s — not surprisingly — revolve around their son. While the 24-year-old songstress describes herself as a “Gee golly!” kind of person, the same cannot be said for her husband! “I’m working on not swearing around Bronx,” Pete admits. “I know I have a bit of a bad mouth.”

Of the decision to post a photo of Bronx online instead of posing for a magazine, Pete says that despite multiple offers the couple thought it seemed “strange that your first picture would be next to ‘Who’s hot! Who’s not!’” Ashlee is doing her best to remain a member of the former category and not the latter. She reveals,

“I couldn’t put bleach to my head while I was pregnant, so I’m happy to be blonde again…I’m being a mom. I’m breastfeeding and when I get a chance to work out, I’m working out.”

Bronx will “definitely” be a big brother someday, according to Ashlee, and if Pete has his way it will be many times over! “So that would be nine [kids] for me,” he says.

Ashley looked great the other night. I think she looks best as a blond.

  2. Nicole Says:

you can dye your hair when you’re pregnant! She looks so much better as a blonde. I hope more pics of Bronx pop up.

  3. delilahbrat Says:

I love Ashlee with the reddish hair. Not quite blonde, but more red.
I bet Pete would be saying something different if he were the one giving birth!
Wishing their family a wonderful 2009.

  4. Jane Says:

I hope they have a girl.

  5. patricia Says:

what is a “Gee Golly” type of person?

  6. Nicola Says:

9….a Wentz tribe on the way then!!! just space them out so you dont need extra people to push the buggies when you go out lol
wow a celeb breast feeding :) its refreshing to hear that ashlee has thoughts of Bronx first as so many celebs think of body image above all else lets be honest breast feeding does take a toll!
i think both pete and ashlee will make great parents im sure being celebs makes things harder sometimes too. congrats.

yes nicole u can bleach ur hair while ur pregnant but some of the chemicals can get into your blood stream and so may (a very very small chance) and get to the baby hence its best not to dye or bleach your hair. along with the fact that your skin can become more sensative when your pregnant so ashlee was being sensible last thing she would have needed would be a major reaction to the bleach and end up in hospital while being pregnant!

  7. fay Says:

it depends on what your doctor says… my dr wldn’t let me get a chemical relaxer on my hair till i was 4 months…

a friend of mine relaxed her hair once and dyed her hair once during her first trimester…

just like travelling, my dr says i can travel (interstate) until 34 weeks, while another of my friends says only till 28… it depends on the dr…

  8. beth Says:

you can dye your hair, and most bleaches today do not have nearly the same amount of toxic chemicals as they did in the past. But the major concern now is that pregnancy hormones can wreak havoc on the color. You could be going blonde, and the chemical reaction between your hair and the dye would turn orange or blue instead. Can you imagine, pregnant, emotional, and blue hair? Not a good combo!

  9. Nika Says:

Nicola I don’t agree with you, I think there are very many celebrity moms who are breastfeeding or have breast fed their baby/babies. Name any of the new mommy’s of these last few months and I think the majority of them is breastfeeding. I always read and remember that because I’m breastfeeding my daughter too.
Angelina Jolie for example breastfed her twins in the beginning, wich I thought was amazing with all those other kids running around.

And to get on-topic again: I think Pete and Ashlee are doing so great, from the way they sound they are so happy. And wow, 9 kids? They better get on with it then! ;-) Lol.

  10. Stella Says:

I think Ashlee might say that she couldnt bleach her hair while pregnant because some doctors along with much of the public is against taking the tiny tiny tiny risks involved and since she is a celebrity, I could only imagine the criticism she would receive on blogs and the like for taking such a chance….I really believe it was more of a decision to avoid the negative commentary than to follow doctors orders.
