I think it's very possible for people to acknowledge their situations and to keep things as whole for the children as possible, if possible. I know people who have holiday dinners together and even take their children's step- and half siblings places with them. Obviously this isn't for all couples, but if things can be sorted out properly and everybody has moved on, then kudos to them. They've done that several times over the past few years. These kids will have memories of the special places they've visited that will include both mom and dad, and that's very nice for them.
