Melissa Joan Hart Calls Brady a ‘Mama’s Boy’

A love of the changing seasons and a dislike of traffic has led Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Wilkerson to start house-hunting on the East Coast. “I think my [New Years] resolution would just be to find a great home for my family, just to find a good city, a good community, a great house with good schools so we can plant some roots and watch them grow,” the 32-year-old actress tells OK! “We want our boys to play in the snow and not to have to explain once a year what rain is.” Describing her son Braydon ‘Brady’ Hart, 9 months, as “sensitive,” and her son Mason Walter, turning 3 this month, as a “tough guy,” Melissa goes on to share that sibling rivalry has begun to rear its ugly head!
“All of a sudden, [Brady] woke up and is like a different person. He’s like super jealous about toys and situations like that and if Mason takes away something from him, he’s very aware of it.”
The differences in the boys’ personalities are evident in other areas, as well. “Mason is a daddy’s boy who likes to run around and get beat up,” Melissa explains. “Brady’s a lot more delicate – not delicate, but like, he’s a mama’s boy.” She adds,
“[Brady] likes to be held and he’ll play by himself for a good little bit of time but not a lot. Mason loves to play by himself, he’s very independent.”

I know that it’s great to know your children really well and how unique they are.
However, there is something very “pigeon holing” about this article: she really is pinning quite rigid personalities on her sons at a young age.
Maybe it’s just the mood I am while reading this article which makes me write this!

those boys are super cute! i love MJH and i think she is an EXCELLENT mom
it look like Mason is wearing an Alabama Crimson Tide jersey. shame, shame, shame.. WAR EAGLE!! lol

I agree, it does seem as if she is “labeling” them almost. It’s not good for children at a young age to already be considered “something”, they’re still changing!

I think what she is saying is that this is their personalities right now. I don’t think she is trying to ‘pigeon hole’ them at all.

I agree Christa. I don’t think she’s saying how they will act when they’re older or assuming anything. She’s stating how they are at this time. I don’t think it would make sense to assume how they will act in 5 years.

Hmm… I agree she is reporting on them now BUT I would stear away to giving rather more negative or just not so positive traits to one child (the younger one).
I think there are ways of describing your child and their traits which bring out the positive.

I don’t understand what trait she is saying the younger one has that is negative?
Perhaps she is talking about their present personalities, but maybe Brady is the complete opposite of what Mason was at 9 mos.

There is nothing negative about what she said. She is also not pigeon holing them or are we now not allowed to comment on our children’s personalities until they are 18?

Melissa should move to Green Bay, Wisconsin! What a GREAT town. I lived there for 3 years as a nanny. 4 years since being back home (Toronto, Canada) I can’t stop thinking about Green Bay and how much I want to raise my own children there! (Someday)…
