Jill Scott Expecting First Child

Why Did I Get Married? star Jill Scott, 36, is pregnant with her first child. The three-time Grammy Award winner and actress made the announcement Friday while promoting HBO’s The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, which she filmed during her first trimester — in Botswana! “My doctors gave me a clean bill of health and said you can do this, so I did it,” she explains. Not that it was easy! Describing the experience as “one of the biggest challenges” of her life, Jill adds,
“First trimester! You’re sick every morning. It was seven hours time difference, the heat, the bugs, the 14 hour days.”
Baby-on-the-way is due April 25th, and will also be the first for Jill’s fiancé, drummer Lil’ John Roberts.
No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency airs in March.

I’m a bit confused though – the No.1 Ladies Dectective Agency, starring Jill Scott and filmed in Botswana, was shown March 2008 in the UK. Have they refilmed it for HBO?

i think she was filming a movie in botswana… there is an essence magazine from last summer and she’s on the cover…
i forgot the name of the movie… i don’t think it was that t.v. show they were filming, but a movie…

Congratulations Jill. I am so happy for you. Enjoy the pregnancy, the kicks, the bathroom trips, you name. Once they come out it’s a wrap. No more sleep for at least 4 to 5 months, but then it will get easier. Good luck and easy labor!

I think this is tremendous news, for the multi-talented Jill! I am so thrilled for her and her intended, great news for the new year!

I have read all of the McCall Smith No.1 Detective books and love them. I am enjoying the show. The show is wonderful. I hope all of the seris will come out on DVD. Jills clothes in the show are great. Which knew where to buy them. Enjoy your child my dear. Childern are wonderful. They bring so much joy. Take good care. SV

I LOVE No 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency and Jill Scott is Wonderful! Anika Noni Rose who plays Jill secretary I also love how her character is betrayed. She is an uptight individual who graduated 97% of her class in secretary school, she is funny in a serious way and adorable. The entire cast are talent and the storylines are brillant! I pre-record the show to make sure I do not miss one episode. This is a quality entertainment at it finest and deserve many Rewards!
