Lisa Rinna Says Delilah is ‘Oozing Talent’

Raising her two daughters to love their bodies no matter what is “so hard,” Lisa Rinna laments in a new interview with MomLogic. “I really work hard at that,” she says. “The images are on TV, in magazines — everywhere.” To help combat that imagery, Lisa says that she and husband Harry Hamlin “try not to talk about diet and exercise” in front of Delilah Belle, 10, and Amelia Gray, 7, nor will Lisa “go on any wacky diets.” “I really try to sit and eat with them,” she explains. “I don’t make them eat everything on their plate; I teach them that food is for sustenance and for your health, period.” Still, some realities are hard to escape.

“Obviously, they are going to be aware of their bodies. They are growing up in California — and in the United States, for that matter. I’m doing everything I can so they don’t grow up with eating disorders or body image issues.”

A career in entertainment would almost certainly increase that awareness, but Lisa says the family might be “going down that path” nonetheless with Delilah, whom Lisa says is “oozing talent.” Her oldest daughter — who recently played Snoopy in the stage production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown — is “funny, can dance and sing,” the proud mom shares. “She stole the show and I’m not just saying that.”

“But I’m not going to be driving around to auditions. When she’s 18, she can do that. I think theater is great, and voice lessons are fine, but we’re not going to be working. That’s my plan for now, but talk to me in two years … I may be schlepping her around!”

The girls have never seen Lisa’s first Playboy pictorial, shot while she was still pregnant with Delilah in 1998, but they know that it exists. What they don’t know, however, is that Lisa has signed on to appear nude in the magazine yet again in an upcoming issue. “They were definitely a consideration,” Lisa reveals, but “[posing] can be a way of expressing yourself and your sexuality.” Noting that you can “control it and control your image,” Lisa says that ”if and when we have to go there, it will be a family discussion that will be challenging and hopefully thought-provoking.” She adds,

“I view sexuality in a different way. It doesn’t mean you’re a victim. Doing this can be a strong and powerful choice.”

Lisa and Harry have been married since 1997.

  1. Irish Says:

I really like Lisa Rinna but I believe she didn’t practice what she preaches, trying to look better with Botox and the other drug she complained that she went over board with. Dieting or Botox, it’s both about your image

  2. Alice Says:

You took the words out of my mouth, Irish. Perhaps though she doesn’t want her daughters to go the same route as she did as she sounds like recently she has had regrets about different procedures she’s had done.

  3. katy Says:

She says that she tries ‘not to talk about diet and exercise’…. surely talking about this and teaching her children about having a healthy diet and lifestyle and exercising is THE way to ensure that they don’t grow up with eating disorders??

  4. Debbie Says:

Wow, I wonder if her daughters will not believe a word she says just like the rest of us. Breast implants and posing for Playboy is not a good example or young girls to love and respect their body. I think she talks out of the both sides of her large lips.

  5. Angel Says:

Does Lisa really not see the contradictions she’s creating for her daughters? “Trying to teach her daughters to love their bodies no matter what” by not talking to them about diet and exercise?!? By getting Botox and lip injections? By posing in Playboy? The confusion will lead them straight to negative body images and potentially to eating disorders. Shame on you, Lisa!

  6. Brandi Says:

I don’t find her explanations to make a lot of sense, myself.

  7. L Says:

Um, yeah, having countless cosmetic procedures yourself is really the way to teach your daughters to love and accept their bodies as they are.
Really, have you seen this woman in a bikini? She’s had just about everything done that’s on offer.

  8. Laura Says:

With a few exceptions i really believe that alot of the Hollywood moms live in a fantasty world.

  9. fuzibuni Says:

good luck to her daughters… and all young girls growing up in hollywood for that matter.
    it’s tough.

  10. Sarah Says:

I think she is rethinking some of choices she’s made in the past. I saw an interview on another site the other day where she admits that she does regret the work done on her face. Maybe she doesn’t want her daughters to follow in her footsteps?

  11. Lisa Skallion Says:

I have run into Lisa Rinna twice at Astroburger in L.A., she can tear apart an astroburger when she has too. Not the diet of someone starving by any means.

  12. MZ Says:

I agree with what all of you are saying, but I think I understand what she was trying to say about diet and exercise. There is a really healthy way to talk about what constitutes a balanced diet and appropriate exercise, and that is IMO a vitally important discussion to have given the childhood obesity epidemic. That’s different from constantly talking about dieting, which I think might be what Lisa was talking about. Women who are teeny tiny and constantly talking about how they have to watch their weight or they’ll be FAT and how foods with any kind of fat in it are evil and they must work out for hours a day can cause their daughters and sons to have really unhealthy ideas about their own bodies.

  13. Terri Says:

I do think there’s a difference though, in getting a little Botox or plastic surgery and being so obsessed with body image to have an eating disorder.
