Charlotte Church Welcomes Son Dexter Lloyd

It’s a son for Charlotte Church and Gavin Henson! Dexter Lloyd Henson arrived just after midnight on Sunday, January 11th at the couple’s home in the UK, weighing in at 7 lbs., 5 oz. He joins big sister Ruby Megan, 15 ½ months. In a posting to Charlotte’s website, she shares that Lloyd is a Henson family name, inspiring the choice.
Charlotte and rugby player Gavin, 26, announced the pregnancy in June, sharing that they were planning a second homebirth. For now, the British singer, 22, is concentrating on being a stay-at-home mother, a role that she relishes.
“I love singing and I always want to do that, but my family is more important to me as I don’t want to neglect my responsibilities as a mother. I’ve just been at home, cooking and cleaning and looking after my gorgeous little baba.”

I was just thinking about Charlotte, and wondering whether she’d had her baby already. And I log on to this website and there it is!

Ah I was wondering when news would appear about her imminent birth. A boy – lovely! One of each
)
Re: ellen – no they’re not married. A lot of press articles show that they plan to get married but in a few years when they’re done having children.
January 11th, 2009 at 12:33 pm
Bet they name him something traditionally Welsh – like Rhys
January 11th, 2009 at 12:46 pm
My instinct is they’ll go with a Welsh name, but it won’t be a traditional one, because Ruby is quite trendy at the moment (not my cup of tea, but it is popular), so I figure they’ll go the same way with their son. Maybe something Welsh with a contemporary feel to it.

Awww..forgot she was expecting great that she has had a boy, i think she will name him something welsh..Dylan or Lleyton maybe.. just guessing though.
January 11th, 2009 at 1:20 pm
Congrats to Charlotte and Gavin! I was thinking she was due soon. That’s great. Although, I felt so strongly that Jennifer Garner was going to have a boy and Charlotte was going to have another girl and it turns out to be the opposite! Shows how much I know!
I look forward to hearing the name.
January 11th, 2009 at 2:00 pm
Finally!! i got so excited when i saw the news just now, i read on a website that she was due in November? so was really anxious when i saw she still didn’t have the baby two months on! lol. Congratulations!
January 11th, 2009 at 2:20 pm
I had a feeling it would be a girl, but I was wrong!
January 11th, 2009 at 2:41 pm

January 11th, 2009 at 3:20 pm

January 11th, 2009 at 3:43 pm

January 11th, 2009 at 3:51 pm
“I’ve just been at home, cooking and cleaning and looking after my gorgeous little baba”
is ‘baba’ some irish slang for ‘baby’?
January 11th, 2009 at 3:52 pm
Congrats!
I was thinking they might name him Gavin or Dylan. Maybe Jack. I love guessing names!!
January 11th, 2009 at 4:20 pm

January 11th, 2009 at 7:39 pm
The British media (and Wikipedia) is reporting the name as Rocco Montgomery Henson.
January 11th, 2009 at 9:45 pm
No name?
January 11th, 2009 at 9:49 pm
Baby Church born on a Sunday- thats such a cute coincidence. I hope hes as cute as Ruby!
January 11th, 2009 at 11:56 pm
I hope the name really is Rocco….that is too cute!
January 12th, 2009 at 12:08 am
Awww! Congrats
January 12th, 2009 at 12:10 am
I wonder who’s name we’ll hear first: Baby boy Henson’s, or Baby girl Affleck’s?
January 12th, 2009 at 2:53 am
Congrats! I bet he is beautiful! Wikipedia says his name is Rocco Montgomery..as someone else mentioned and that he was 7lbs 5oz. I dont know how reliable that source is!
January 12th, 2009 at 3:03 am
Congratulations to this sweet family! I can really relate to Charlotte, I’m also a 22 year old stay-at-home mother.
Can’t wait to hear the little boy’s name!!
January 12th, 2009 at 3:12 am
Baba; Bubs; Baby are just a few terms of endearment for ‘baby’ but not everyone uses them and Charlotte is not Irish, both she and Gavin are Welsh.
January 12th, 2009 at 6:49 am
How lovely! My oldest 2 are 16 months apart and have the best relationship. They are so in love!
January 12th, 2009 at 7:06 am
Elle, baba might well be Irish slang, but Charlotte is Welsh! Also I’m pretty sure it’s just cutesy speak, like baby talk, for baby. Much like mama or dada.
I can’t see them calling the child Rocco Montgomery, Gavin and Charlotte are proud to be Welsh and Ruby Megan’s name reflects this, Megan being Welsh, but Megan is also after Gavin’s grandmother. Heatworld.com is reporting that there are rumours the baby will be called Alan Lloyd, after Gavin’s dad, which fits with the Welsh and family theme.
Congratulations to the Church/Henson family!
January 12th, 2009 at 8:21 am
Ellen, “Baba” is a slight slang form of “baby” in the UK, seems more used with the Welsh than that Brits. I could be wrong on that but I’m 100% it’s for Baby lol.
January 12th, 2009 at 9:25 am
“Baba” as Charlotte is using it would be Welsh slang, ellen, as Charlotte is Welsh.
Congrats to the Henson/Church family!
January 12th, 2009 at 9:37 am
They do seem to like quite modern names and as last year Ruby was the 2nd most popular girls name in the UK after Olivia so might go for something a bit more unusual like Rocco this time. Congratulations to them both, Charlotte seems like a really devoted young yummy mummy!
January 12th, 2009 at 10:39 am
I LOVE the name Rocco Montgomery but not so much Alan Lloyd. Ruby and Rocco sound good together, but Ruby and Alan doesn’t!
January 12th, 2009 at 12:41 pm
The baby’s name is Dexter Lloyd.

January 12th, 2009 at 12:45 pm
Dexter?! Well thats not a name I expected in a million years from Charlotte and Gavin! Still, their choice and Ruby and Dexter sound quite cool together!
January 12th, 2009 at 12:54 pm
Congrats to the whole family! I like Dexter. It’s quirky but not too out there.
January 12th, 2009 at 12:55 pm
Love the name!
January 12th, 2009 at 1:09 pm
Cute combo of names! Welcome Dexter
… Congrats Gavin, Charlotte & Ruby
January 12th, 2009 at 1:11 pm
Definitely wasn’t expecting Dexter lol. Dex is a cute nickname though and it’s always nice to see a family name tossed in (Lloyd) to the mix
January 12th, 2009 at 1:18 pm
I like the name they have given him, it’s suits their family too.
January 12th, 2009 at 1:20 pm
Dexter is my favorite name. I hope it doesn’t become popular.
January 12th, 2009 at 1:30 pm
Kind of surprised on the name. I would have thought it might have been more common Welsh kind of name, but that’s cool.
January 12th, 2009 at 2:13 pm
I’m really surprised by the name. I really love the name Ruby Megan, but Dexter Lloyd just doesn’t do it for me. Not a fan of the name at all..
January 12th, 2009 at 2:22 pm
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE NAME DEXTER!!!
January 12th, 2009 at 2:39 pm
I LOVE that name! I think it is one of my future kid’s names now….hehehehe
January 12th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
I’m not loving the name, it’s a shock choice! I adore Ruby’s name and don’t think they “go” as well as others might. However, I love this little family and wish them a wonderful future with their two little ones

Love the name Dexter, goes really well with Ruby – reminds me of the actor Dexter Fletcher who was in one of my favourite programmes as a kid – Press Gang!
Congrats Gavin, Charlotte, Ruby & Dexter
January 12th, 2009 at 3:08 pm
I love the name. My cousin is called Danny Dexter. I think it’s a great name.
Congrats to the Henson and Church’s.
January 12th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
loving the name, it goes really well+liked it as soon as i heard it! congrats to the hensons xx
January 12th, 2009 at 3:35 pm
Oh, no! That is the name my hubby was pushing for a boy. It was supposed to Max, and then everyone went and named their kids that. We don’t want to use “popular” names. Might have to go back to the drawing board.
January 12th, 2009 at 4:54 pm
Love Ruby and Dexter. Very cool. Now if only Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck would announce the name of their baby.
January 12th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
Do NOT like the name Dexter
January 13th, 2009 at 1:40 am
I love both of their names
Dexter is much better than what people were reporting earlier, Rocco Montgomery.
Congrats to Charlotte, Gavin and Ruby on their new arrival!
January 13th, 2009 at 3:05 pm
Dexter is such a cool name, its got geek chic! hehe!
Not a fan of the name Lloyd, but its a family name, so they are forgiven. hehe.
I would never have guessed that Charlotte and Gavin would chose this name, I was thinking he would be named something like Dylan or Taylor.
