Sophie Ellis-Bextor Welcomes Son Kit Valentine

It’s another boy for Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and by some accounts another scary birth. The UK’s Daily Mail reports that Sophie has delivered her second son — named Kit Valentine Jones — nine weeks prematurely on Saturday, February 7th. He weighed in at 2 lbs, 10 oz.

Her first son, 4 ½-year-old Sonny, was delivered eight weeks prematurely in April 2004 via emergency cesarean, after the 29-year-old songstress developed the life-threatening condition pre-eclampsia.

Sophie’s mum Janet Ellis tells the BBC, “Sophie’s just had her second little boy. He was early, nine weeks early, but he is doing fine. He is doing very well.” Sophie’s rep confirms this, stating that mum and baby are “doing well.”

Kit was due in April. He is also the second child for Sophie’s husband, Richard Jones, bass guitarist for the music group The Feeling.

   My own son was 8 weeks premature so I understand what Sophie must be going through. I hope her baby boy is well and Sophie too. Congratulations to her and her family on the arrival of the new little man. x

   Wow this was a surprisingly post, she hardly even looked pregnant, I didn’t even realise she was that far along for the baby to be 9 weeks early! I LOVE their name choices, fingers crossed all goes well.

   aww, I can understand what she’s going through as my son was born 8 weeks early too, but he is extremely healthy and I hope that for her second little boy too. Congrats to her!

    Ellen it’s not pronounced like kite. Kit’s a lovely name, usually short for Christopher. Kit Valentine is a really cool but classic name.

    Poor baby though, I hope he’ll be okay!

    Congratulations to Sophie and family. I had full blown eclampsia and my baby girl was born 10 weeks early last year so can fully relate to the stress and ongoing tension. However, as Kit is their second I am sure they will take everything in their stride and enjoy every moment with him. Thanking God for the little miracle.

    Congrats to Sophie but so very unlucky with having a second premmy! My son was 8 weeks early too and its a very hard thing to go through making sure they are healthy and then the extended stay in hospital can be very draining, its just not a ‘normal’ start to life with your new bubs. I’m preg with my second child and am 30 weeks and am praying I pass through 31, 32, 33 etc etc without hassle. I know some mums wish they had their baby out at this stage but trust me, you don’t! I never say that and wish to be a hevaily pregnant, and well and truly over it, 40 weeks pregnant mummy soon! Hope all is well Sophie with little Kit, do they know was it preeclampsia ??
