Inglesina Zippy Stroller: Famous For Its One-Handed Fold

The Inglesina Zippy Stroller ($399) is famous for it’s one-handed, super quick fold. Features include adjustable handles (new for 2009), a full coverage canopy, large shopping basket, child snack tray and child handrail bar, parent cup holder, terrific suspension and deep recline. It also can be stored standing up.

Putting it Together
Attach the front and back wheels, shopping basket and canopy. You have the option to use the child snack tray or the leather child handrail bar (both are included). The sturdy parent cup holder can be attached to either side of the stroller.
The Ride
The suspension was terrific. It pushes like a dream and you can push it with one hand.
The Seat
The age limit is supposed to be 3 years old, but we find it fits our almost 3 ½-year-old son comfortably. The canopy is still high enough to give him room to grow. The front seat has four positions, including a deep (but not flat) recline. The Zippy can be turned into a travel system. There is an optional carrycot available, just pop off the armrests and clip it on. You can attach any infant car seat using the included straps. Just pop out the armrests, recline the seat to its deepest position, place the car seat facing you, and attach the straps around the armrests and infant car seat. Inglesina does have an infant car seat that will clip directly into the Zippy’s frame, the Huggy, but unfortunately, it’s not available in the US.
Storage
The bottom basket can be accessed from the front or the sides and can hold a lot of items. The Zippy is able to take a lot of weight and doesn’t tip over easily.
Sun/Weather Exposure
The sunshade is really full coverage — when the seat is upright, the canopy can almost be tilted down the child handrail bar. The canopy has a zipper so the back part can be removed or folded back for more ventilation. The rain cover is included as standard and is small enough to fit into the little included bag.
The Fold
This has one of the easiest, quickest folds I’ve ever seen. To fold: Raise the backrest of the seat up to the most upright position. Press the red button that says number 1 in the back and quickly pull up the handle. To unfold: Pull the latch trigger on the right-hand handle, then open the stroller by pulling the handle itself upward. Then push the central locking mechanism down with your foot until it locks horizontally.
Pros: This is an excellent all around stroller. Parents will find it easy to fold/unfold and love the upright storage.
Cons: At 18.5 pounds, and even with the carry handle, it’s not my first choice for public transportation or really rough terrain.
Final Verdict: The Inglesina Zippy Stroller is a terrific general use stroller. We love the easy fold, non-tippiness and excellent sun protection.

I was so glad that you guys finally did a review on this stroller. I was interested in the peg perego stroller, but this one seem to be more practical. But, I’ve compared the two and they are almost the same. But, this fold is so much easier. Thanks again on the review.

I have this stroller and love it! I have it with the bassinet and the compatible COMPASS infant car seat and it ROCKS!!! I highly recommend this stroller.

I have had this stroller since my older daughter (now 3.5) was born. We LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I really can fold it, lift it into the car, then unload it and set it up all with one hand, while holding the baby in the other hand. I don’t understand why anyone would ever buy a different stroller!!!!

When we were stroller shopping when I was pregnant with Anya, we were considering the Zippy and the Bugaboo Frog. We decided to go with the Frog because I was afraid I wasn’t strong enough to lift the Zippy to put it into the car. It’s about 19 lbs and I have poor upper body strength! The Frog is heavier but you have to take it apart to fold and the separate pieces were under 19 lbs.

This is the best stroller EVER. I travelled alone with my baby every 2 months, and this truly folded with one hand and baby on the other at gate check!
I have bought another 2 MacLaren Quests since for my son, now 4y.o., but nothing runs like Zippy. I used it last when he was 3, and even though he is a big boy and the Zippy is a bit heavier than the Quest, the ride was still much smoother! Cannot say enough abt this stroller. Now that it’s up for sale on Craigslist with its own carseat (hubby insisted), and hate to let it go. LOVE IT and recommend it to all!
