It’s a boy for Olympic gold-medal winning gymnast Dominique Moceanu Canales and her husband, gymnast-turned-surgeon Mike Canales! Vincent Michael Canales arrived on Friday, March 13th in Cleveland, OH, weighing in at 8 lbs., 9 oz and 19.5 inches long. He joins Carmen Noel, 14 months.

“Mommy and baby are doing well,” Michael tells PEOPLE. As for the new big sister, “Carmen couldn’t be happier or more excited.”

The couple announced the pregnancy in September, eventually sharing that they knew the sex of the baby but would be keeping it private. Dominique, 27, recently posted an adorable video of Carmen poking at her belly — check it out here.

  3. MZ Says:

Love the name! Wonder if she had him at Hillcrest (Cleveland Clinic’s OB center, where my husband was born).

  4. Emily Says:

Wow I would expect little Dominique to birth a smaller baby than that, poor thing!

  5. gianna Says:

Congrats she is beautiful, and vincent is one of my favorite boy names. Reminds me of a cool tough boy, I love it.

  6. Stella Bella Says:

    Congratulations! So happy for her!

  7. camille Says:

her older sister is just 14 months? i think it’s too close

  8. Jennifer Says:

Congratulations to Dominique, Mike, and big sister Carmen! Welcome to the world baby Vincent! I’m sure he’s just as cute as his big sister. :-)

  9. Leslie Says:

Vincent Michael. That’s a good name; has a nice ring to it! I figured Dom would have a boy this time around. Congrats to her, Mike and Big Sister Carmen!

  10. Aitch Says:

yeah for them. And just a nice, normal, yet very cool name. How refreshing..

  11. Lisa Says:

Congrats! and best luck of your family!

  12. April Says:

Wow. 14 months apart!? That sounds like it could be tough! Congratulations to them though. Carmen looks like a cutie!

  13. Silvermouse Says:

My sisters are 11 months apart, but my mother was 40 and 41 when she had them so she had to rush. It’s pretty cool having siblings that are so close in age although for parents, once college comes around, it’s painful haha. Congratulations!

  14. krewcat Says:

    Congrats to her!!!

I had my 1st 2 18 months apart to the day and had my 3rd 14 months after that…its not to close for some people. For some, its just right.;0

  15. Laney McDonald Says:

Congrats, Mike and Dominique. I love the baby’s name. Michael was my dad’s name and I just love Vincent. The name fits together perfectly. Carmen Noel is really cute. I always loved Noel.

  16. trullesand Says:

my first son´s called vincent so of course i love the name.

  17. Juanita Says:

14 months apart is nothing. My mom had four kids (all singles) in less than 44 months. I like the name Vincent…not really fond of Carmen but love Noel(le).

  18. Linda Says:

Vincent’s a good name. I would’ve used it for my own son but I already knew two people with the same name.

Hopefully she has help for a toddler and newborn. Or maybe she already sends her toddler to daycare (since she teaches gymnastics), so it wouldn’t be too hard since Dominique will just be caring for Vincent at home. And her husband being a surgeon, they can definitely afford daycare.

  19. Stephany Says:

My brother and I were 14 months apart. It’s not easy but it can be done. :) I love Dominique and I’ve been waiting for this announcement! Congrats!

**My brother and I are 17 months apart and it’s not too close at all. My mom always said, why would I want to potty train at two separate times and change diapers at two separate times? I want to get it over with!**

  21. Harley Says:

Aw! Congrats to the entire family!

  22. Jennie Says:

People are you hae to be joking that you think 14 months is to close??? If she is a stay at home mom why not? I am one of five kids and my older sister is only 13months older, then me, and my next sister is 15 months after me. In all there are 5 of us in 8 years. Result- we are each others best friends. I love my sisters and brother more then anyone in the world, and with the age so close it was like having best friends live with you! Who cares how close in age they are, as long as they are loved and brought up in a good family age doesn’t matter…..Congrats to the happy family
