Julie Chen Expecting First Child

Each and every summer, fans of the CBS reality show Big Brother engage in rampant speculation about whether or not show host Julie Chen is pregnant. This year, there will be little room for doubt! The 39-year-old television personality — who also appears on The Early Show — is expecting her first child with CBS President and CEO Les Moonves, she confirmed this morning on-air.
Baby-on-the-way is due October 4th and will join Les’ three adult children from a previous marriage – Adam, Michael and Sara.
“It wasn’t a big Sunday at the buffet table,” Julie joked. “I’m starting to show now! I’m not taking maternity leave from Big Brother. I e-mailed my boss over there this weekend and I said, ‘Don’t worry. I can still do the show!’”
Les, 60, and Julie were married in 2004.

I have no idea who this woman is ( as there’s no picture of her) but as I was reading this article, I was pleased for her and her husband that they were expecting a baby but how old is she? I see her husband is 60, so is she younger than him??

Babyboopie, I think she is like 40??!! She looks like she is in her late 30’s early 40’s. I never watched big brother but I do know who she is. Congrats on the baby!

It says she’s 39.

The article says she’s 39…
Anyway, I DO watch Big Brother and this is exciting news! It’ll be fun to watch her belly bump grow during the show!

Congratulations to them! However, I have to say that it is a little depressing to see these women in their late 30’s, early 40’s having babies. I am 33 and my husband is 36, we have been trying for 11 1/2 months now and still no baby. We cannot afford fertility treatments or anything. I am not saying these ladies did fertility treatments, but it just seems more and more celebrity ladies who are a little older are getting pregnant. I just pray that we will get our miracle baby! Again congrats to Julie and Les!

3 “adult” children at the age of 39? Wow, that would mean she had three children by the time she was 21. Are the youngest two maybe still teens?

That’s fantastic! Congrats to them!!

Congratulations to Julie. I have to say the comments here are making me laugh! It is like everyone skipped the article. The older kids belong to Les, not Julie, and she is 39…..

I’ve never heard of her either, but I find this so funny, since the exact same thing happens in the UK with the host, Davina McCall. She seems to be heavily pregnant at the end of about half the BB’s.

In my opinion he is too old to have more children.

Saeah K:
I think Les has three grown children – not Julie. This is Julie’s first. Les is 59 so it’s not crazy for him to have 3 grown children. At least that’s what I read here (http://www.thinkfashion.com/blogs/stylosity_hollywood_hookup/archive/2009/04/21/julie-chen-pregnant-with-first-child.aspx)

Julie is 39, Les is 60 (he is the one with three adult children). I didn’t even know she was married or anything, and isn’t he the CBS big enchilada so he’s her boss, right?
I’m looking forward to the latest Big Brother this summer! She’ll really be showing then, eh?

How exciting. I always wondered if she would have children. I wish se and her husband all the happiness

I’m so happy for her! I love her on Big Brother, I’m glad she’s still going to do the show!
April 21st, 2009 at 12:17 pm
Yep – he’s head honcho at CBS so he is her boss.
I wasn’t expecting this news!!!
Congrats to them!

Big Brother is still on the air?
April 21st, 2009 at 12:57 pm
My bad, I guess I didn’t read carefully enough. Thanks for correcting me!

I think everyone needs to read the article again. The “grown” children are HIS from a previous marriage. I think it is great!
SO WHAT and WHY CARE if she is 39 and he is 60. This is 2009
April 21st, 2009 at 2:08 pm
How sweet! I love Julie Chen! I watched BB 1 and 2.
April 21st, 2009 at 2:11 pm
maybe it’s just me, but I thought her maternity leave comment was a little premature. I mean… lots of women change their mind once their child arrives. Why set herself up for that pressure?
April 21st, 2009 at 4:33 pm
I am sooo excited for her!!…. i can’t wait to see the growing belly!!!
April 21st, 2009 at 6:14 pm
I saw her announcement this morning.
Congratulations to Julie and Les.
April 21st, 2009 at 8:20 pm
Congratulations to them both. But she is not only on BB. I watch her every morning on the early show. She Will be a terrific Mom.
April 21st, 2009 at 8:55 pm
I love Julie and watch her every morning on The Early Show. Congrats to them both!!
April 22nd, 2009 at 10:01 am
did no one read the article? it stated both her age 39 and that the 3 adult children were from his previous marriage(s).
April 22nd, 2009 at 5:41 pm
wow people need to read, its HIS previous children and she is 39 wow its annoying to see like what? questions already said in the article… I hope you get your baby soon Raquel.

i’m in nz and we got the aussie version of big brother here, but not the US one. She looks familiar. Curious, did she also used to be an interviewer on current affairs show 20/20?, which we do get downunder…

Mrs. R: She is not talking about not taking maternity leave. The show films over the summer from July – early September. The article says she is not due until October. So it sounds like she is saying she wants to host Big Brother during the pregnancy. I would imagine she will take time off after the baby arrives.

I am excited for her and she is due 3 days before me so I enjoy seeing the difference in our “Baby Bumps”
