"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

Jennifer Lopez Says Twins are ‘Like Night and Day’

Kevin Mazur/WireImage

When Jennifer Lopez was pregnant with twins Emme Maribel and Maximilian ‘Max’ David, 14 months, she continued to tour alongside husband Marc Anthony well into her second trimester. All that time spent in utero on stage with their songstress mother hasn’t translated into two musically-inclined toddlers, however. “There’s no singing,” Jennifer joked during a Tuesday appearance on Live with Regis & Kelly. “Just lots of screaming.” While they may have that in common, there isn’t much else that Max and Emme share. “It’s like night and day,” Jennifer, 39, reveals.

“It’s like, this is little man, this is little woman. She’s very delicate and precise and careful not to fall, and he’s just barreling through everything, screaming and eating everything he can get his hands on.”

Their differences aside, Jennifer is thrilled by the boy-girl combination because it made the decision of whether or not to have more children easy. “One of each, all done,” she said. “No more.”

“I got a boy and I got a girl. It was very efficient of me!”

The news that she was poised for motherhood caught Jennifer off-guard, however. “At a certain point, you start to think, ‘Oh, maybe this isn’t going to happen for me,’” she explains of getting pregnant. When — at 7-weeks along — she got the news that not only was she expecting, but expecting times two, Jennifer says she was floored.

“Right away [the doctor] said, ‘Oh there’s a little heartbeat. Oh there’s another little heartbeat.’ I was like, ‘Oh God’… I just laughed. Marc cried, I laughed. I was like…’Of course. Why not?’”

Her kids are adorable….Although everytime I hear their names I chuckle..Those arre the names of the brother and sister from the Sprouts show Dragon Tales..I wonder if she knew that before naming them…

  2. Valerie Says:

Do you hear the hearbeat that early?

  3. Liz Says:

Has anyone else noticed how many twins are being born to celebrities? It makes you wonder is there some secret trick they are using. No kidding think about it…..It is strange.

  4. Kayla Says:

Valerie- I’ve never heard of anyone hearing the heartbeat that early. Normally the earliest they will do it is 12 weeks and someimes that is still to early. maybe because she is a celeb she got to hear it and I will bet they had a very tough time finding it…

  5. Melissa Says:

I got to hear my baby’s heartbeat at 9 weeks. He warned me that most likely we wouldn’t hear it because it was too early but there it was clear as can be.

  6. Brandi Says:

I think this is just another thing that points to fertility treatments even though she denies it. You find out you’re expecting that early when they’re checking to see if your IUI or IVF was successful. I know, my sister in law is going through it right now.

Anyway, the twins sound adorable and it’s funny how well they’re fitting into their gender roles.

  7. Melanie Says:

    Kayla-
That’s not entirely true–you can typically hear a baby’s heartbeat anywhere from 9-12 weeks…the only reason people think it’s later is because women go in for their first appointment (to find out if they are for sure pregnant) before they can hear the heartbeat and then don’t have another appointment until they are further along. My sister heard both of her babies heartbeats at 9 weeks and my other sister heard her baby’s heartbeat at 10 weeks–it just depends on when you go into the doctor. It also depends on IF they even check for a heartbeat–sometimes at appointments that early, they don’t even check.

  8. Christie Says:

Who’s to say she HEARD the heartbeat? I had my first ultrasound with both my children (pregnant with 2nd now) at 8 weeks and the technician said “There’s the little heartbeat!” both times upon SEEING it. Maybe that was the case for them as well. And I was only about 6 weeks along at most when I discovered both times I was pregnant and I did so naturally – not necessarily a sign of fertility treatments to find out that early.

Anyway, sounds like they are quite the handful and that they are enjoying every minute of the two little ones :) !

  9. anon Says:

Most of these twins are being born to older celebrities and the rate of twins jumps later in life. My moms a faternal twin and my grannie had her at 38.

  10. angie Says:

I went yesterday to my first ultrasound and we did see the little heartbeat, I am 6 weeks pg. I found out as soon as my period was missing, at 4 weeks.

The heart starts beating at 22 days from conception.

  11. Jane Says:

“I think this is just another thing that points to fertility treatments even though she denies it. You find out you’re expecting that early when they’re checking to see if your IUI or IVF was successful.”

Really? I think it’s pretty standard to find our you’re expecting between 4-7 weeks. I don’t think that’s limited to people who have used fertility treatments. I think it’s common for people who are actively trying to get pregnant (no matter what the method) to be anxious to find out if they’re pregnant as soon as possible.

Plus, if a person has a thyroid problem (and I assume this is true of other chronic illnesses as well) it’s important to confirm the pregnancy as soon as possible, and it’s a good idea to see a doctor sooner than the typical time frame for first prenatal appointments to monitor thyroid levels to avoid a miscarriage. So there are many reasons why a person could be checking to see that early. We don’t know everything about Jennifer’s health, and we don’t know why she saw a doctor that early.

  12. Karen Says:

I am currently going thru my 2nd pregnancy. I found out I was expecting at 4 weeks, just because I knew my cycle. I am a high risk pregnancy (diabetic) just as J-Lo was for her age. My OB was able to see and hear the heartbeat at 6 weeks. Just FYI

  13. mom-squared Says:

I recently gave birth. I saw and heard my baby’s heartbeat at 5 weeks, 5 days. It was very exciting. No fertility treatments or fertility monitoring. I simply went to my doctor when I saw the positive pregnancy test.

  14. Amanda Says:

I have never had fertility treatments but needed an early ultrasound with my 2nd pregnancy. We saw her heartbeat at just under 6 weeks and a week later we heard it too. I even heard the heartbeat on the doppler at the drs office at 10 weeks. So 7 weeks is very normal, there are a lot of women getting early ultrasounds now, and I can imagine she has enough money where she’d pay for one just to have the reassurance after how long she tried to get pregnant.
And again, I never had fertility problems and found out I was pregnant with both of my children before I was even 4 weeks pregnant. We’re trying again and I plan on testing before my period is due again

  15. Bri Says:

I have photos, video and yes, AUDIO from my very first ultrasound – at 5.5 weeks!!! Looks like nothing but a circus peanut (literally, lol), but her heartbeat was strong. We have the whole thing on tape – heartbeat and all! It is possible… : )

  16. Lisa Says:

    CBB i have a question.

Last week she said she definitly wants more kids and that Marc is begging her to get pregnant. Then in another interview this week she said she is still keeping her maternity clothes in case she gets pregnant again……. This interview says no more

  17. pyjammy Says:

we found out we were having our (spontaneous) triplets at a routine 7 week ultrasound, so it definitely does not automatically mean she went through fertility treatments. in fact, if she had, she probably would have known earlier.

  18. anon Says:

    triplets….WOW.

  19. anon Says:

and both of those kids look like Marc.

  20. CelebBabyLover Says:

Lisa- I’m guessing the thing about Marc begging her to get pregnant again came from a tabloid. As for keeping her maternity clothes and then saying this: My guess is that she is just being realistic due to her age, just like Halle Berry. She probably just means that they won’t actively try for any more kids, but won’t do anything to prevent a pregnancy either.

  21. Mary-Helen Says:

I don’t think she had treatments, just the way she talks about how it wasn’t going to happen for her and then finally she got her wish!

As for wanting more, I’m sure Jennifer does want more children, but @ 40 and after struggling to conceive for 3 years, it’s probably realistic to think she may not have more.

  22. collette Says:

I heard and seen the heartbeat of my baby at 6 weeks, 7 weeks and 9 weeks!!!

  23. Mia Says:

I read a similar article in PEOPLE yesterday, or so, where she said Marc was really pushing to expand their family, but that she wasn’t ready yet, and is happy with her 2 kids right now. Maybe they will have more kids, maybe not. Although she is definitely a little older, sometimes if you have trouble conceiving and you then have kids, it stimulates the body and hormones in a way so you can sometimes conceive a lot easier the second time around. I guess time will tell.

  24. CelebBabyLover Says:

Mia- Really? My opinion of Marc just went down a bit! First of all, Marc already has five children altogether (he has a daughter from a previous relationship, his two sons with Dayanarra Torres, and, of course the twins). Plus, Jennifer will be turning 40 this year.

I think Marc is being very selfish in pushing her to expand the family when she is pushing 40 and may not be able to have more kids. Be thankful for the kids you have, Marc!

  25. CelebBabyLover Says:

Sorry if I sounded harsh in my last comment. To be honest, I’m worried that Marc may leave J-Lo if she doesn’t get pregnant again.

  26. Tracy Says:

I found I was pregnant before I was even 4 weeks. I then had an ultrasound at 7 weeks, and have a dvd of the whole scan (my OB’s ultrasound machine writes to DVD) You can see and hear the heartbeat. So if I in South Africa have access to this technology, I am pretty sure JLO who has more money than I will know in my lifetime, definately has access to the same technology. We have twins in our family, always fraternals, almost always boy girl. I had to use clomid to get pregnant as I wasnt ovulating, and was so worried that I would end up with triplets or something. But no, there is one cute little bean growing in there.(9 weeks today)

  27. Elida Says:

I agree that she has a boy & a girl why push for more, she is ready to take life back. Marc I’m sure is not preasuring too much, he also likes the spot light as much as she does. If he leaves her for not having more kids or any other reason, then it was not meant to be. I hope that does not happens, but nothing in life is promised to last for ever unless two people are totaly commited to make it work. But without Gods guiding them through, who knows…

  28. CelebBabyLover Says:

Tracy- How did you find out you were pregnant so early? I was under the impression that it’s impossible to know prior to 4 weeks.

  29. Terri Says:

I think they meant she found just out she was pregnant at 7 weeks. The heartbeat part probably came a good bit later.

  30. steph Says:

I have twins and saw their heartbeats at 6 weeks, and my singleton daughter i saw hers at 6 1/2 weeks so it is possible to see a heartbeat that early. who know’s for sure if she meant heard or seen. like a previous poster said i find their names a bit ammusing though lol.

  31. Twinmom Says:

I don’t know why there is such a big issue about taking fertility treatment. In today’s times and day, when taking Botox is a done deal which may give u a better skin, a technology which gives u kids, is looked down upon.

I’m sure all those who have been blessed with kids thru such treatments are no less mothers than the others.

    Cheers
