"My baby self weaned despite me trying to keep up the nursing! I find it so refreshing to hear Gwen talk about how hard she works to lose weight and keep herself in top shape. She looks great and has a beautiful family."

“I sit there and play princesses with my daughter, and I never told her anything about a princess, ever. Whereas I go to my brother’s house, and he’s got two boys…I walk in the front door, and I instantly get punched in the nuts.”

Joey Lawrence Says College Before Showbiz for Charli

As a former child star, Joey Lawrence is in a unique position to know the trials and tribulations of stepping into the spotlight too soon. He tells MomLogic that parents thinking of getting their children into show business need to ask themselves — objectively! — whose idea it really is. “Make sure the kids want it,” the 33-year-old actor says. “Don’t look at your cute, adorable kid and think, ‘Oh, this’ll be great’… But if they really want to, if they’re the ones dragging you… That would be my advice, let them tell you.”

Joey is first to admit, however, that his stance is a bit more strict when it comes to his own daughter Charleston ‘Charli’ Lawrence, turning 3 this month. “I don’t want to be hypocritical here,” he starts, “but my goal would be for her to do it as a hobby and to get through high school and college, not unlike what Ron Howard’s daughter [Bryce Dallas Howard] did.”

“I would not allow her to do it professionally until she is at least eighteen, and then I would encourage her to finish college. That would be my goal.”

Charli is Joey’s daughter with wife Chandie Yawn-Nelson.

He and his brothers were fortunate enough to avoid the tumultous path that so many child stars have taken and I believe his stance on his daughter one day acting is that of a responsible parent.
