Brooke Shields and Family Dress Up for the Derby

They’re going to the races! Brooke Shields, husband Chris Henchy and daughters Rowan Francis, 6, and Grier Hammond, 3, pose for a quick photo as they arrive at Churchill Downs for the 135th Annual Kentucky Derby on Saturday afternoon in Louisville.

With her two girls’ personalities evident even in this photo, Brooke recently explained that they are quite different, but still a lot like mom!

“I’m really a blend of the two of them, but I’m more like Rowan because both of us are very aware of how things sound and how they seem. Like me, Rowan is self-aware at a very young age. Grier could care less about being liked. Whatever she wants is what she wants and it’s the most important thing. She doesn’t believe in softening her response. Rowan is like, ‘Okay, how do I navigate this?’”

Rowan wears Lily Pulitzer’s Maren Halter Dress ($88).

Grier wears Lily Pulitzer’s Mini Harmon Ruffle Dress ($118).

   Grier and Rowan are simply beautiful girls! They are both wearing Lilly Pulitzer dresses. Grier is wearing the Mini Harmon Ruffle Dress, and Rowan is in the Maren Halter Dress. Brooke also designed a couple Lilly outfits for the Colorful Cause collection supporting EB.

   I guess I was far too modest,(and top heavy, I woulda looked like Pam Anderson in that dress) to wear something so cleavage baring for a day out with my kids. Brooke is lovely, but that dress is a bit too revealing for that particular event, imho. Am I just being silly?

   The girls are so cute but sorry Brooke…the your look is not good. I’m surprised she didn’t wear Lilly Pulitzer clothes since she desinged a pieces for them and put her daughters in the dress she designed for little girls.

    Both of the little girls are sweet. Answer to the thing on her head. It is a tradition when attending the Kentucky Derby that women wear elaborate hats.

    Yeah the prices are ridiculous for those dresses.I can’t believe a 3 year old is where a $100+ plus dress to occasion that’s isn’t even really geared to her age. I don’t care how wealthy you are, that’s not necessary.

    Well hey, I thought Brooke was standing underneath a blue flying saucer. Imagine my surprise when I find out it is a hat! Not a good choice, that’s for sure. Good thing her kids and husband look good!

    Since I was one of the only TWO comments that were left about the dresses…I wasn’t nitpicking on Brooke here. I just felt that the dresses didn’t look to be anything special for the money. Sounds like you took a LOT of offense to that – SORRY! Still feel that way though. I could buy a WARDROBE of WAY cuter dresses for the money those 2 dresses cost. Last time I checked this is a comments section and people are only expressing THEIR opinions on the material presented…

    do u guys notice both of her girls have red hair….Brooke and her husband are brunette ( brown) hairs maybe one of the parents are natural red hair cuz an apple never fall far from his tree

    Brooke’s husband has a shade of red. I think Rowan looks just like her insanely gorgeous mother.
