"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

"If you ask Violet what I do, she'll say she remembers me bowing on stage when I did a show in New York, and so she'll say, 'My mom sometimes will bow on stage and sometimes she gets her hair and makeup done.' It's a great job!"

Appaman Clothing: Let’s Hear It For the Boy!

Superbolt Polo ($40) and Bulldog Tee ($34)

Admit it, when you think children’s fashion, you think girls. Walk into any kid’s clothing store and invariably the girls’ section will be almost double the size of the boys’. Fashion-conscious mothers of boys need to work just a little bit harder to achieve a cool look for their beloved boys.

Appaman ($28-78) is key to this challenge. When my son turned 5, a friend gave him a red Appaman T-shirt ($29) that simply had a giant white “5″ on the front. Brilliant, inspired. It’s as if the designer knew—this kid was proud of being five, and he wanted the world to know. Appaman’s designer Harald Husum just gets it — their graphic Ts manage to be hip without being too precious or snarky. Plus, they’re made of high-quality cotton in strong colors.

Twirly Skirt

Oh! And they have a full fantastic line of girls’ clothing and denim, too. Danielle adds: “I love how on-trend and yet retro Appaman is. For example, the Geometric Dress ($46), which Anya always wants to wear as soon as it comes out of the laundry, reminds me of the 80’s with it’s pseudo off-the-shoulder neckline. Anya also loves the Twirly Skirt ($40). It’s so soft and I love the flippy layers.”

But don’t take our word for it — Appaman is one of very young Hollywood’s favorite brands. Recently, we’ve seen Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s boys rocking Appaman (Zuma in their flash shirt and Kingston in their puffy coat), and both Liv Tyler and Annabeth Gish’s sons have their reversible vest in olive/rust (speaking of Olive, Sasha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher’s daughter Olive has it in pink). This winter, we saw Kingston, Gwyneth Paltrow’s son Moses Martin, and Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick’s son James Broderick all wear their puffy coat. In the past, we’ve seen Mariska Hargitay’s son August in the monster truck tee and Julia Robert’s son Finn Moder in the long sleeve charger tee.

Whenever I go to the stores…they are jammed full of little girls clothes. But I have a glorious boy! We need cool AFFORDABLE cool clothes for little boys, ahem, some black clothes would be cool. I love that Appaman is working on this challenge.

In this economy, for most parents on a budget, 28 dollars on a t-shirt is a bit much.

I can’t agree more about the unfairness in real estate the stores give in our boys clothing over girls. I say its there financial loss because us moms of boys want to see our sons looking cute and their very best just like the moms of girls. I search to the extreme to build my 2 yr. old son’s wardrobe. What bothers me though is the lack of bright uplifting colors in boys clothing. I hate all these blacks, grays, and skeleton graphics. These colors and those images are not postive, Designers should know that there many moms out there on the hunt for something more classic, preppy, but with a taste of hip and cool. Listen to us mommas boys!
