Richie Sambora’s Courtside Kiss
His daughter Ava Elizabeth may be more interested in snapping cell phone photos of the action, but Richie Sambora makes time for a smooch while sitting courtside during Game 5 of the Lakers-Rockets playoffs on Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Ava, 11 ½, is Richie’s child with ex-wife Heather Locklear.

omg! ava is a mini heather, very pretty! richie is not bad either
May 14th, 2009 at 10:39 am
Wow – its mini Heather!
May 14th, 2009 at 10:41 am
she looks just like him
May 14th, 2009 at 10:54 am
She’s a mini female-blonde Richie LOL! That child is all Sambora
What a beautiful pair. Ive seen more pictures and they both had such fun together at this game, there’s nothing better than seeing a father and daughter have that much fun and enjoy eachother’s company so much
I think he’s a truly amazing Dad, the kind of father every little girl wishes she could have. I don’t know how many pictures there are of them both kissing and laughing together, and playing with their mobile phones. Totally precious, and I’m jealous of that relationship lol!
May 14th, 2009 at 11:01 am
I think she looks like Richie, also. Very lovely photo.
May 14th, 2009 at 11:02 am
I would’ve never been allowed to wear makeup at 11 or wear that top. It’s such a shame to see, in what is essentially, still a little girl.
May 14th, 2009 at 11:07 am
It’s only a little bit of eyeshadow for a night out with her Dad, she’s not wearing lipstick or anything, it’s just a bit of fun
As for the top, I don’t see what’s wrong with it. It’s really pretty and she was even wearing a sweater over it so I don’t understand the issue here.
May 14th, 2009 at 11:38 am
I think she looks just like her mom…
May 14th, 2009 at 11:45 am
What a sweet picture….
May 14th, 2009 at 11:55 am
That is so sweet, dad and daughter hanging out. At first glance I thought she looked like Heather’s mini me but then I looked again and she’s a mix of both parents. Is she wearing eyeliner? I guess she’s a true rock n roll kid!
May 14th, 2009 at 12:06 pm
Whoa, that’s a 11 year old? Wow, if I didn’t know her age I would have guessed 16 by the makeup and clothing. Kids these days, they just don’t look like kids anymore and we wonder why they have sex when they’re 12 or get pregnant when they’re 17.
May 14th, 2009 at 12:15 pm
She looks so like Richie all of a sudden! Ava was always mini-Heather, even when she was a baby, but now we can see there is some Sambora in her after all! I remember seeing all the Bon Jovi tots in London once when the dads were playing, it’s so weird to see them all growing up now!
May 14th, 2009 at 12:25 pm
Very pretty girl, doesn’t look 11 1/2!!!! I haven’t read anything lately about Richie, what happened to his DUI?? Is he finally clean and sober??
May 14th, 2009 at 12:26 pm
goodness, must people pick on children? it’s a picture of a daddy with his daughter. The girl is not flaunting make up, nor wearing a sexy low cut top. She looks like every other tween in America. Richie and Heather have done well keeping her out of the spotlight (as I haven’t seen pix of her in forever). I was just going to make a comment that she is a beautiful young lady, but i had to speak up (as some others have) about her make up and top comment. She’s 11, highly doubtful she’s shopping at Frederick’s of Hollywood in the WOMEN’S department. Shame on you people ridiculing an 11 year old!
May 14th, 2009 at 12:43 pm
I’m honestly not ridiculing the kid, but moreso her parents who allow her to look like that. She’s 11. I don’t know; I’m not some old harpie, but I think she’s too young for makeup. She has the rest of her life to worry about looking attractive.
She’s a gorgeous girl.
May 14th, 2009 at 12:59 pm
She’s a very beautiful girl but I would’ve guessed her age at 15 at least. She looks a lot older than 11.
May 14th, 2009 at 1:08 pm
She is not wearing makeup..and because we have seen girls her age
who look a lot older she is plain jane next to them Richie has been
clean since that time of the DUI..This is the first time we have
seen them.. Alex Baldwin’s daughter is thirteen but looks like she
is 17 with a lot of makeup and black hair.. Ava looks like a great
girl who have 2 parents who love her dearly..
May 14th, 2009 at 1:10 pm
I wore make-up at 11 too because I wanted to look nice for a volunteering job. I think she looks nice and it is her personal choice to wear make-up. It’s not like she’s trying to look trashy. She looks like a carbon copy of her dad and they are a cute pair.
May 14th, 2009 at 1:11 pm
I think she has her daddy’s nose and the rest is Heather. What a cutie. I think if the eye make-up is just a little fun but she doesn’t do it often then it isn’t a big deal. If she is wearing it everyday that’d be a problem. My 3 yr old niece likes to put on make-up and dress-up. She puts on the make-up herself so it kind of looks like she has 2 black eyes lol.
May 14th, 2009 at 1:32 pm
A few years ago, when my son was 11, most girls in his class wore some sort of make up… nothing too heavy obviously just a little bit of eye make-up or lip gloss and most had their nails painted.
When I was that age I was still a little kid playing with dolls (I started experimenting with make-up at 13/14) but with the young girls these days it’s very different. The aren’t the same like us back in the 1970s and 80s. Times have changed.
To me, Ava looks fine, just like most girls of her age. And I don’t see what’s wrong with her clothes? The girl wears a lovely bright summery top and a cardigan. What’s wrong with that? Some people really complain about anything and everything, it seems!
May 14th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
I’m not seeing any makeup and I think her top is totally adorable. She’s at a ballgame with her Daddy! What a special thing for her. Lighten up and enjoy looking at two people who obviously adore each others company!
May 14th, 2009 at 1:44 pm
Wow. It’s a tiny bit of make up for a night out with dad. Get a grip. It’s infinitely better for Heather and Richie to allow her this little treat than for her to go crazy with it when she turns a certain age. Most little girls (and lots of little boys too) love to play with make up and I see absolutely no harm in a bit of it every now and then. There is nothing wrong with this situation, people are far too quick to see toxicity in everything.
May 14th, 2009 at 1:46 pm
Very sweet picture, I love Richie and Bon Jovi!
For those concerned about make-up, I think she looks perfectly fine. Have you been to a middle school or heaven forbid a high school lately and noticed what the kids are wearing? Times have changed, kids are growing up faster and faster. It’s the role of parents to control what they do and not do… My child is almost 16 and still quite immature, but I’d rather have it that way vs. having her go to baby showers for classmates!
May 14th, 2009 at 1:58 pm
I see more of Heather in her, maybe because she is blonde? I also think she has Heathers nose as well. I do think she does look older than 11 but I remember being her age and wanting to look older than my age. I think when girls are reaching their preteen years they are just so excited about wanting to look older is all. I remember wanting to wear high heals as well. I think my Mom only would let me wear nothing higher than an inch though. lol
May 14th, 2009 at 2:07 pm
They are beautiful. I love how these two are so tightly bonded, and how much love clearly shows between them. It’s actually quite rare and very very special
Cutest Daddy/Daughter duo I have ever seen. Why can’t every man be this affectionate?
May 14th, 2009 at 2:09 pm
What make-up? I don’t see any.
May 14th, 2009 at 3:22 pm
I think she looks exactly like heather, execpt her nose is richie’s
May 14th, 2009 at 3:56 pm
Goodness no, Ava has always had Heather’s nose since she was born. That is the only thing on the child’s face that is like her mother!
She completely resembles her father, and in fact that color blonde hair comes from Richie’s side of the family as well. She is completely a Sambora through and through, she is like a mirror image of Richie’s cousin, but definitely looks like her Dad especially in these pictures.
There’s nothing of Heather in her at all
Beautiful girl, lovely pictures. Thank you for posting CBB, we NEED more Sambora pictures!!!!!
May 14th, 2009 at 4:09 pm
On the last picture I saw her on Ava looked totally different. She was about seven or eight back then but she looked so different. If Richie hadnt sat next to her in that photo I wouldnt have recognized her at all. Her hair was darker in the past, too!
May 14th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
Maybe its just that one photo, but she looks a lot older than 11 more like 17. Her close, makeup and hairstyle aren’t aren’t inappropriate themselves just age inappropriate for her. Look at other 11 year olds on this site, she doesn’t fit in with them at all.
May 14th, 2009 at 5:12 pm
Does anyone not realize that 11 and 12 year olds are not what they were 20 years ago?! It’s called a sign of the times and people have to wake up and just deal with it!! Kids start wearing makeup and acting more mature at a much earlier age. Blame it on whatever you will but that’s just how it is! I think she looks fine. I don’t think she has too much of anything on and the top is perfect for a tween! If you look at her face she still looks like a little girl, relax!
May 14th, 2009 at 6:43 pm
Maybe it’s because I am the mom of a 13 yr old daughter, but I think Ava looks her age. My daughter wears make-up and has for over a year now. She is a 7th grader and started last year when she began Middle School, as all the girls at least here do. My daughter is completely innocent a still very much a 13 yr old that just likes to do her hair and makeup. She also has rules and supervision and does not run wild by any means and doesn’t dress trampy or hoochie. But, she does dress trendy and stylish. She’s a normal middle schooler, like Ava looks to be.
May 14th, 2009 at 6:46 pm
She looks so much older than eleven! I would put her at fourteen at the very least.
May 14th, 2009 at 8:13 pm
Cute picture!
I don’t see anything Ava is wearing to be inappropriate for an 11 year old. She looks just like any other kid her age. She’s a very pretty girl, but if she wasn’t with Richie, I’d never give her a second glance. She looks like a typical American tween.
May 14th, 2009 at 9:34 pm
Wow more complaining. Canadian, from one Canadian to another, please stop criticizing everything on these boards – our Maple Leaf should not be shown next to negative comments. There is nothing wrong with Ava Sambora, she looks older, but its not the makeup, some kids just look older then their age. Seriously, some people should spend more time with their kids and leave others alone. Ava is not (atleast yet) like Paris Hilton or some other celeb baby making a fool or her-himself. Chances are she is well taken care of and seems pretty levelheaded, she looks like a normal 12 year old…….sigh
May 14th, 2009 at 9:56 pm
she has Heather’s nose…Heather had a nose job in her late 20s, it used to be much wider
May 14th, 2009 at 10:02 pm
I just recently got out of high school, and I remember vividly the girls who wore makeup in middle school. Now I graduated from middle school, in 2003(NOT along ago at all) and yeah these are the signs of the times true. However, children wanting to be mature goes beyond makeup and clothes. Its attached to issues that I’m pretty sure you don’t want your 10-13 year olds getting involved in. Yet, pretty much all the girls who wore makeup and had the belly button rings and the cell phone were getting in way deep and their parents had no idea. I remember one of these girls very nice, smart and innocent(or the adults around us thought she was) came crying to me because this boy had fooled her into having oral sex. We were in the 8th grade). People try to shrug off girls trying to be more mature at a younger age and wonder why younger and younger girls are having sex and getting into trouble. They are indeed connected.
May 14th, 2009 at 10:03 pm
I’m not saying anything is wrong with this girl, I’m just saying to those that say “its just makeup” are ignoring the reason WHY these girls want to wear makeup and more mature clothing.
May 14th, 2009 at 10:29 pm
I’m a high school teacher and Ava not only looks normal, but a little conservative for an 11 year old “these days.” And as for “these days” I was looking back at my 6th grade year (1992-1993!) and I (along with the rest of my class) was wearing bodysuits with cleavage showing. Most of the people I knew were experimenting with sexual activity before we got into high school. Come on people, that’s more than 15 years ago. Not “allowing” preteens to work out who they are often drives them into becoming something you don’t want.
May 15th, 2009 at 12:04 am
She grow up so fast! I remember of the pictures of 2 years ago when Richie still dated Denise Richards, she looked like a kid.
May 15th, 2009 at 2:35 am
I highly doubt any scientific studies have been done to show that wearing eyeliner at 11 is directly related to getting pregnant in high school.
She looks like an 11 year old with eye liner on. If your mom was Heather Locklear, don’t you think you would too? She looks cute, and completely normal. I bet her dad is happy that he’s still “cool” enough to hang out with
Good parenting is about instilling values in your child. Does that include prohibiting them from wearing harmless makeup and cute clothes that show no inappropriate body parts?
May 15th, 2009 at 5:18 am
Why can’t people just accept a beautiful picture of a father and daughter doing something healthy and fun, and enjoying eachother’s company?
No, people have to pick on an 11 year old.
IF she is wearing a bit of make up, it’s so minimal as to hardly be visible. Her clothes are lovely and summery, she’s dressed completely normally for a child her age
She’s beautiful and I love to see a Dad and daughter having fun together, it warms my heart. Beautiful couple.
May 15th, 2009 at 6:08 am
I don’t see any make up. If she is wearing it, she sure knows how to apply it. She’s a pretty girl and I am so glad her dad seems to have shaped up his life. I’m a huge fan of Bon Jovi and also Richies solo material. It’s nice to see it’s working out for him.
May 15th, 2009 at 7:14 am
They are sooo cute together!
I’ve noticed that in every picture I’ve seen them in they are either hugging, kissing or holding hands. He obviously loves his daughter a lot and is not afraid to show it.
Ava is the perfect mixture of both parents. She is beautiful.
May 15th, 2009 at 8:03 am
I’m upset that people are making comments about this little girl.
She’s not done anything wrong at all, and neither has her father. So why attack them? She’s wearing clothes that are fine for her, in fact they’re very cute, and I don’t believe she’s wearing make up but if she is it’s so little I can’t even see it, so what are people complaining about?
She does look a little older than her years but that’s because of her features more than what she’s wearing. She is tall for her age and it makes her look a little older.
they are a gorgeous pair, we should be applauding the fact that here is a healthy relationship between a father and a child, especially when that father is a single father who has the little girl live with him the majority if not nearly all the time. He’s done a great great job with her despite the lack of a real mother figure in this young girls life, so let them be. They’re both beautiful.
May 15th, 2009 at 12:47 pm
Ava looks all Heather to me, the blonde hair, the blue eyes. She’s gorgeous, much like her mother.
May 15th, 2009 at 10:28 pm
Why is that child wearing make-up??
Wow, I’m really disappointed in her mother for allowing her to wear that eyeliner and mascara.
As hard as it is sometimes…you have to say “NO, not yet” to your child and stop being the best friend…
#23 Rachael An 11 year old is NOT in middle school yet – at least not in this part of the country. She would be in 6th grade.
May 15th, 2009 at 11:41 pm
mamabear- 6th grade IS middle school in a lot of places. Nowadays, most middle schools start with 6th grade and end with 8th grade.
May 15th, 2009 at 11:44 pm
Hea- I agree. I don’t see any make-up on Ava. Some people just have naturally dark eyelashes.
May 18th, 2009 at 3:09 am
Totally agree with Mary. It’s not the 1950’s anymore people! She’s a beautiful young lady, who looks fashionable whilst, in my opinion, age appropriate.
Congratulations to Richie and Heather for raising what looks to be a very level headed, loving girl.
May 22nd, 2009 at 12:19 am
I think it’s a really sweet picture. Give them a break! Given some of the things that kids in Hollywood seem to be involved in, a little eye makeup seems pretty mild in comparison. It’s obvious that Richie really loves his daughter and I think it’s great that he can spend some time with her.
May 26th, 2009 at 1:17 pm
what make up?? I don’t see any…
June 15th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
Some of you are being so rediculous and judgmental about a picture of a dad with his daughter..its true kids today want to grow up fast but just because she may or may not be wearing a little makeup or a cute little blouse, I mean she does have a sweater on…doesnt mean that when she is 17 (as someone mention) she will be some outrageous kid wearing practically nothing. Dont judge their parenting, there are people out there just waiting for him, heather and now the daughter to do something that the media like TMZ can photograph and make something out of nothing. People should just be happy for him and his daughter. Its a beautiful thing for a dad to have fun and show how much he loves her by spending all the time he can with her while she is young. You can say what you will its like the song goes..(richie)”I’ll be there for you”, he was there for Heather when she was ill and will always love and support her and his daughter..
July 30th, 2009 at 1:18 pm
I think she looks fine, and is definitely a combination of both parents. And in my area, around NYC, my middle school was 6th-8th grade, so at 11, I was in middle school. It’s common for girls at 11,12,13 to start playing with makeup + become interested in dating. (Hence. puberty).
August 2nd, 2009 at 9:33 am
All I see in her is Heather
