Adriana Lima and Marko Jaric Expecting First Child

Brazilian supermodel Adriana Lima is going to be a mom! The Victoria’s Secret Angel and her husband, NBA star Marko Jaric, are expecting their first child together, reps for the couple confirm to PEOPLE exclusively. Adriana is due this winter.
“Adriana and Marko are overjoyed that they are expecting their first child together and are excited to share the happy news and start their family together,” say reps.
The couple eloped on Valentine’s Day this year, tying the knot in a small, private civil ceremony in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
“We are so excited about our future together,” the model told PEOPLE at the time.
Adriana and Marko, who plays for the Memphis Grizzlies, met in 2006 and got engaged two years later on her 27th birthday.

I have to say i really love her as a model and i just love how she always said sex if for after marriage(im sure i will get slammed for saying this).

I am thrilled. I figured this out quite a while ago and it’s good to see everyone finally is picking up on it.
Doreen, Adriana didn’t get married because she is pregnant. She probably eloped because she is pregnant, but she was already planning two weddings one in each of their home countries. Her and Marko were engaged since June of last year.

If she is due this winter, she can’t be more than three months pregnant. They’ve been married over three months.

I don’t think it sounds like they got married because she got pregnant. If she’s due in the Winter, then the earliest they could have conceived is in March (maybe late February), and they got married on Valentine’s Day. It was probably just a honeymoon baby… unless they have some weird definition of Winter I haven’t heard of. *shrugs*
Anyway, congratulations to them! What a gorgeous child that will be. : )

Congrats! they seem perfect for each other. Adriana has said that she saved virginity till marriage so she definitely did not get married because she was expecting. anyways i am sure the child would be super cute and loved.

Yeah, they didn’t get married because she was pregnant. If the baby is due in Winter (Winter months being December, January, February), she got pregnant in March most likely. Or, as someone stated, a honeymoon baby. I have some friends who are due in December and they didn’t get pregnant until March.

Dia, I hold the same opinion! I’m 21 and waiting on marriage for sex, which is super rare nowadays. So I was really excited to see you, too, are waiting! It seems as if Adriana also waited but maybe they planned on starting their family early…anyway, congrats! That will be one super cute baby!

Because you’re a fan that makes you an Adriana expert? Just because you’re a fan doesn’t mean you can guarantee that she is more than 3 months along…only they know for sure. That’s like me saying “I’m a Reese Witherspoon fan so I can for sure tell you that she married Jake Gyllenhall.” One doesn’t have anything to do with the other…Maybe you’re right and she is due in the fall but you have to have better logic than “you’re a fan”..

Actually, Mira, no it isn’t THAT rare. I myself waited till marriage (I was 26) and I have plenty of friends who for one reason or other (religious, moral, health, shyness, etc.) are virgins in their mid/late twenties. Not everyone is into casual sex and they might not be luck to find ‘the one’ early on it life. I believe that some previous posters have mentioned that they’re waiting till marriage also.
I will grant you that it does seem rare in the world these two live in (Hollyweird), but still it’s not unheard of.

Barbie I agree with you (sorry Mel:-)). There have been pictures of Adriana recently and she had a visible ‘bump-y’ already. Women rarely show at 3 months and models even less so, plus Marko’s father Srecko confirmed it weeks ago to a Serbian magazine (which I believe led to them announcing it, since the story’s been picked up by other newspapers outside Serbia).
BTW, I really can’t believe that I’m posting this much about two people I really don’t care about.

I didn’t not agree with Barbie based on whether or not Adriana is pregnant–in fact, I heard it weeks ago too so it’s quite possible that it’s true. My point was that you can’t say she’s more than 3 months pregnant and have your reasoning be because “you’re a fan”–that’s all.

I think it’s admirable when people wait until marriage to have sex. It actually is somewhat rare these days but when you hear about others waiting until their married or even waiting until their mid 20’s (for whatever reason) it makes me smile (and feel less alone) about my decisions

I didn’t know Adriana almost became a nun. That’s interesting. My mom almost became a nun and she didn’t wait until she got married. She was married when she conceived me, though…. If it turns out Adriana was pregnant when they married, I hope people will refrain from hanging her. Fat chance on that one, right?

I read on wikipedia that she is due winter 2010 so that means january. So I’m guessing she’ll have the baby late December early January which would mean she was NOT pregnant before she got married. CONGRATULATIONS!

Kayla- I’m guessing that one’s just a rumor, as I haven’t seen a thing about it on PEOPLE. For example, they mentioned the possibilty of Mel Gibson’s girlfriend being pregnant before they actually confirmed it. Considering they haven’t said a word about Giselle being pregnant, I’m guessing it’s still very much a rumor (and, although you saw it on the news, some news outlets aren’t above reporting tabloid stories as fact these days, unfourtnately!).
Anyway, to the people saying Adrianna can’t be three months pregnant…Actually, it’s possible that she’s closer to 4 months along. Although Winter doesn’t techincally begin until December, most people count November as a Winter month, especially the later part of the month. If she is due in November, then she likely concieved in February (most likely a honeymoon baby, as others have speculated). It will be June in less than a week, making her nearly 4 months along rather than 3.
I haven’t seen that many pictures of her, but, as she’s a model, I’m assuming she’s normally very skinny. When that’s the case, you DO tend to show earlier, unless you are also very tall (like Nicole Kidman).
Oh, and all of that said….Count me in the “wait until marriage” crowd! I, too, am saving myself for marriage, a vow I made to myself several years ago.

ppl ruined my pregnancy b/c i conceived in my honeymoon and my baby came 3.5 weeks early. atleast she can conceive easily!

She could just be showing early. I’m 10 weeks pregnant (conceived in March, due in mid-December) and already showing, so please don’t assume that just because she’s showing already, she must be further along in her pregnancy. Some of us just pop earlier than others. And since she’s so skinny, any sort of baby bump will show up sooner than others of us that might have a bit of weight on us.
I’m not giving any opinion about whether she got pregnant before or after marriage, as I honestly don’t care either way, I’m just saying that she could have gotten pregnant soon after and already be showing.

Congrats to her on her baby. She must be so excited. My husband and I have been trying since we got married in August last year but no luck yet. Hearing stories like these and knowing my friends and family members got pregnant without even trying make me a little jealous but I try not to think about it.
I’ve always thought Adriana was gorgeous and I can’t wait to see her baby!

I’m really happy for Adriana and her husband. For those saying that she conceived before marriage, I want to let all those people know that she was extremely passionate and open about her vow to stay a virgin until marriage and I believe her 100%. She really could not be a better role model, she shows off her amazing body but she didn’t use it as candy towards men before her marriage. She will be an amazing mother and I wish them the best of luck.

That kid is going to be gorgeous, look at those two! dang. I conceived on valentine’s day and my due date was November 3rd, she came a week early though. That would be so sweet if it’s a honeymoon baby. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see if she stuck to her vow! Honestly when I heard she eloped my first thought was that she was pregnant, or that she REALLY couldn’t wait anymore:)
