Indy driver Alex Lloyd and wife Samantha are celebrating the birth of their second daughter. Bethany Amelia Lloyd arrived Tuesday afternoon, June 2nd, weighing in at 6 lbs., 12 oz and measuring 20 inches in length, the proud papa announced via Twitter.
It would appear as though baby girl needed some coaxing! Throughout the weekend Alex tweeted that Samantha — who had been due May 24 – was experiencing contractions, and on Monday morning he revealed that the couple would check in to the hospital at 6 a.m. Tuesday. Throughout the induction Alex, 24, offered updates. “No baby yet! She’s taking her time but we are both all good watching Anchorman,” he shared. Shortly thereafter, Bethany was born. Tweets Alex,
“Starting her off right… Born to [Anchorman character] Ron Burgundy.”

Cute. Congratulations to them. She’s beautiful.
I have another tidbit: Ed Carpenter, a fellow driver, and his wife, Heather, had a baby boy the day before in the same room Bethany was born in along with the same nursing staff.
Ironic.

He looks like he could be the son of California Governor Terminator.

He does resemble Arnie a bit! Not a fan of the name, Amelia’s prettier, IMO, but congrats to the new parents and big sister Ava!

Talk about a long labor. His wife had contractions all throughout the Indy race on May 24. There were times when they would cut into the race and show her standing in pit row with his crew giving updates on her labor. If I remember correctly at one point she said that the contractions had been 10 minutes apart for almost two hours. They should have had the labor induced long before that if Samantha was in labor since race day.

TV- From what I’ve heard, Samantha and Alex went to the hospital after the race….But were sent home as the contractions were found to be stress-releated and stopped soon afterwards.
Anyway, why induce at all if you’ve having contractions? Why not just let nature take it’s course?
