Hank Azaria Welcomes Son Hal
Joshua Roberts/Reuters/Landov |
It’s a boy — a bit early! — for Hank Azaria and Katie Wright. The couple welcomed a son, Hal Azaria, on Saturday, June 6th. “He was premature but he’s healthy and strong,” Hank’s rep Stan Rosenfield tells PEOPLE. “Everyone is very happy.”
The couple announced the pregnancy and sex of the baby in February, with the The Simpsons star, 45, sharing that he enjoys talking his son in utero using “many voices” and playing The Beatles! “The baby likes Beatles music. We pump a lot of Beatles music into the womb. I get inspired to talk to him like John Lennon occasionally,” Hank laughs. “He seems to like it, he gets very kicky when I talk this way.”
Hal is the first child for both Katie and Hank, who have been dating for over two years. Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, Hank’s latest flick, is in theaters now.

I actually like that name….Hal Azaria…Fits his daddy.

I have to admit, I kinda like the return of the classic monikers – Hal, Archie, Henry, Bob, ect. – far better than all of the Jaydens/Aidens/Taylors I seem to encounter every day as an elementary school teacher. My only exception? The name Max, while short, sweet and classic, is HUGE in Hollywood these days, eh? Just this week, we’ve seen 2 new Maxes born (Lance Armstrong and Gilbert Gottfried’s boys), not to mention Max Bratman, Max Muñiz, Max Sutter… they’re everwhere!
Anyway, enough of my tangent, lol. Congrats to Hank and Katie, and happy birthday, Hal!

Dislike the name, but it does seem to fit Hank..too cheezy sitcom for me…hank N Hal or something

I love that they chose Hal! It’s an older, more traditional nickname for the given name Henry and since the father is Hank, another version of Henry, I say kudos! What a great, uncommon way to honor the father’s name without having a “Junior”. I wonder how early baby Hal was?

Congrats to Hank and Katie.

Yeah!! I’m so happy for them! Welcome to the world, Hal!

I think that Hank is jewish and think that Hal is a jewish name since I had 2 uncles with that name, but can be wrong. Dont think it has to do with Hank at all, but not really a fan of it, but its OK like Max is so popular too now and my uncle Max is 90!

Hal is a cute name. Growing up, I had a friend named Harold and they sometimes used the nickname Hal. Congrats to the family!

Oh I love the name! It’s such a throwback to another time!
What fun it will be to be Hank’s kid. Can you imagine storytime?!

Congrats to the new parents. I’m not sure I like Hal but as long as he’s healthy is all that matters.

seems “normal” names are making a comeback: Hal, Kelley, Helena Grace, Max Aaron.

I knew she looked familiar – she was on “Malibu Shores” and “Melrose Place”.

I am not a fan of the name Hal, but it does fit with daddy’s name. Oh well.
Couldn’t agree more on storytime; would love to be that kid.
Congrats to Hank and Katie on the new addition to their family.

Molly, I totally agree with you:)

A long time ago I worked for his dad Al Azaria. I imagine the Hal name is part Hank and part Hal. His dad would be so proud!

Not a fan of the name, Hank and Hal, too cheesy, IMO, think of a 40 or 50 year old man when I hear the name, but each to their own – at least it will be relevant and not baby-ish when he’s older, lol. Congrats to the new parents on the safe arrival of their son, the main thing really!

Hal was born 7 weeks early by c-section, but he’s putting on weight each day. Katie’s good too. Should be out of hospital in a few weeks or so.
From a distant relative in England.
