Ana Ortiz Welcomes Daughter Paloma Louise

Ugly Betty star Ana Ortiz and her husband, musician Noah Lebenzon, have welcomed their first child, a daughter, on Saturday, June 27th, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.
The baby girl — Paloma Louise Lebenzon — was born at 4:25 p.m. in New York City and weighed 7 lbs., 10 oz.
The proud parents took their time deciding on a name and worked from a short list of five choices, wanting to get to know the baby before picking a name that fit. “We haven’t decided on a name yet,” Ortiz had told PEOPLE from the hospital. “But we are getting close.”
“She is elated and completely glowing,” said Ana’s rep. “She is surrounded by her friends and family and so happy to be a mom. She is just really enjoying the moment. The baby is absolutely beautiful.”
Ana, 38, had been due this past Thursday.

Congrats to them!! loooooove the name which means “dove” in Spanish or “Colombe” in French, for the lovely white bird. That’s quite popular but very elegant in Spain. A famous Paloma is Picasso’s daughter, Paloma Picasso.

The baby’s name and Ana’s name rhyme, so luckily the baby has Ana’s husband last name. Paloma Louise…Ana Ortiz. I bet the baby is adorable. I thought she was due in early July?

I’m not a fan of the name, only because it is my Father-in-Law’s horse’s name so I think of a pet. I am so happy for them! I am always giddy for first time parents because I remember the excitment and pure joy the first few days. Also – Happy Birthday Mandy!

I used to adore the name Paloma, but its a bit too popular now for my taste. Kinda like how Christina and Marisol used to be.

love the name Paloma.
June 29th, 2009 at 9:05 am
Living in Spain I can’t help but find this Paloma phenomena very curious. Even though it’s a Spanish name, it’s not very popular for babies. As lolamay said, this name is very elegant and you normally find it among upper class middle-aged ladies, thus it’s sometimes considered a “posh” name, which I guess is always better than having a “trashy” or cheesy one.
Nevertheless it’s a beautiful name, and I’m sure the baby is beautiful as well.
June 29th, 2009 at 9:42 am
I love Ana Ortiz!! Congrats to her and her family. Love the name Paloma.
June 29th, 2009 at 10:32 am

June 29th, 2009 at 10:42 am

June 29th, 2009 at 12:08 pm
Possibly the most beautiful pregnant woman ever, and Paloma is a very classy name
June 29th, 2009 at 1:06 pm
Congratulations Ana. Very different but beautiful name Paloma Louise. Very classy.
June 29th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
I really thought they would stick to their original instinct to go with Ramona, so in that sense I’m surprised. That said, I’m also excited, as I much prefer Paloma and love its pairing with Louise. Beautiful name.
June 29th, 2009 at 4:20 pm
I was wondering when I’d see an announcement on the baby being born, and I am so happy for her and Noah on little Paloma Luise. Such a pretty name! Congrats to the both of them!
June 29th, 2009 at 11:02 pm

June 30th, 2009 at 11:45 am
We have a 10 month old Paloma Marie, within a few weeks of her birth there was a hurricane with her name!! It seems all of a sudden I see the name everywere. Not sure how I feel about that!
June 30th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
alex509 the baby was born on saturday not on sunday!!!! but congrats cant wait to see you on the show!!!
June 30th, 2009 at 5:22 pm
Yah! Another Louise as a middle name!
It’s a maternal tradition in my family, with my daughter being 5th to get it…
it makes me happy to see the name making a come back… when I was growing up, I hated that it was my middle name because it was so old-fashioned… now’s it’s becoming trendy again! HOORAH!
June 30th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
Kind of funny that her costar Salma Hayek used Paloma as a middle name for Valentina and now Ana’s using it. Anyway, best wishes to everyone.
July 3rd, 2009 at 10:31 pm
Allison- It’s not surprising at all really. You should consider the fact that Ana had mentioned previously she wanted to use a name that was already used by somebody else. It actually makes perfect sense as to why Ana would want to honor the person responsible for casting her in Ugly Betty by giving her own daughter the first name of Salma’s daughter’s middle name.
July 19th, 2009 at 12:23 pm
Congrats to Ana and Noah. Ana seemed pregnant like forever! Looking forward to see little Paloma!
