"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

"If you ask Violet what I do, she'll say she remembers me bowing on stage when I did a show in New York, and so she'll say, 'My mom sometimes will bow on stage and sometimes she gets her hair and makeup done.' It's a great job!"

Denise Richards Says Daughters Think ‘Boys are Yucky’

When it comes to looking out for daughters Sam, 5, and Lola Rose, 4, Denise Richards says that everything she needed to know, she learned from her dad; Irv Richards had a few tricks up his sleeve, however! “When we were teenagers, he used to tap our phones,” she quips to MomLogic. “He worked for the phone company, so he had all the equipment.”

While it’s unlikely that Denise will go that far, there isn’t much she won’t do to make sure that the girls are okay. “As a parent now, it’s harder to keep tabs on our children, but I will be vigilant,” she promises. From the sound of things — for now — she has little to worry about!

“They pretty much think boys are yucky.”

Although Denise continues to come under fire for allowing the girls to appear on her reality show Denise Richards: It’s Complicated, the criticism is unfounded, she says. “Everyone is so judgmental when it comes to raising kids: if you breastfeed or not, feed them only organic foods,” she laments. “The bottom line is, I’m not exploiting my children.” Noting that Lola and Sam are only on screen “for about a minute here and there,” Denise points out that “the show isn’t about them.” Instead, their participation is a good thing, she adds.

“I get to incorporate them into the show — which means I can take them to school as part of my job. How many single working moms can say that?”

Sam and Lola are Denise’s children with ex-husband Charlie Sheen.

I agree with Denise, people is so judgmental when it comes to raising kids.

School is one thing I wouldn’t like celebrities to show on screen, although I don’t know how much is actually shown, I don’t watch her show. (I also dislike when the paparazzi take pictures at school or going to and from school). I think it’s somewhere that most kids feel just like any other kid, which is nice. Paparazzi are also not always the greatest people, I would think they frighten other children with their yelling.

I’m not judging Denise for this – I know some of you might take it that way – I just mean in general.

  3. Andrea_momof2 Says:

Oh, and I completely agree with Denise too. A lot of people (not just here) can sit behind a computer and judge celebrities for EVERY little thing. Does it really matter to you if a child is still in pull ups? or using a bottle? Seriously. It gets to be a bit much.

  4. Ashley Says:

Agreed, let 2 yr olds have their pacifiers and little boys have long hair if they and their parents want…you can raise your children your way when you have your own.

I don’t watch Denise’s show, but I have to agree with what she has said here. People are incredibly judgemental with other parents. And it’s not limited to celebrities. I used to dislke Denise a lot, but the more I hear from her the more I gain respect for her. She’s got a good head on her shoulders. I’m glad the anger and mudslinging between her and Charlie is in the past. I hope for the well being of their girls that it stays that way.

  6. OnyxJones Says:

Well said Ashley! I don’t have any children yet, but I love this site. I can see celebs being parents, enjoying moments with their children. Some photos the celebs have said they would have never gotten. It makes me feel good to see people whose work I enjoy as regular people.

I watch Denise’s show and I love her father. He’s the greatest….makes me miss my grandfather. Denise has a very good support system.

BTW her girls are in this season even less than the first, which was minimal. She and Charlie have mad up, now Sam and Lola can have a real family. Wish them all well.

  7. Skipsie Says:

i don’t watch the show but I completely agree with her!
I love this website, but some of the comments get a bit much.
“get that pacifier out of jaydens mouth”
“put a coat on suri, get her a haircut”
    totally agree with ashley’s comment.

  8. Mary-Helen Says:

ITA. I find it hilarious that people came down on Denise, who’s children are on the show for like a minute every other eppy (I have only seen one episode, but a couple of friends watch it and mention they rarely see them), but then praise other celebrities who make entire reality shows about their kids ie: Tori & Dean, Shanna & Travis, etc. Not to mention the constant criticisms about certain celebs (Madonna for taking her daughter to church, Jessica Alba because Honor doesn’t smile) and then praise others for doing next to nothing. But @ the end of the day, they are (insert celebrity here)’s children and they are responsible for them, not us.

    “Boys are Yucky”

I sure hope the girls don’t feel that way about their new little brothers!

  10. lis Says:

I really, really dislike Denise.. but it always sounds like she’s doing the best she can to raise her daughters and is a pretty good mom to them. I think it’s obvious she loves them tremendously and does what needs to be done for them. And ultimately, that’s what the kids need.. and also, for the rest of the world to stop criticizing the celeb parents so harshly. Denise is definitely right on all of that.

  11. Anna Says:

I just don’t get reality shows in general. It’s all so self absorbed; look what I do every day. Of course they get a big bag of money for it so it’s understandable if your career is pretty much dead.

I just dislike celebs dragging their children to events etc. Not just Denise, although she seems to be at every event.

  12. CelebBabyLover Says:

Anna- How do you know celebs “drag” their children to events, especially when it’s an event having to do with children? For all we know, at least some celeb kids actually beg to go to those events (from what I’ve heard, most of the kid-related ones feature fun stuff for kids, such as games and face-painting)!

Chicki- Based on kids I’ve known in the past, Sam and Lola probably don’t consider their brothers boys as such just yet. :)

  13. Mary Says:

well of course they think boys are yucky, they’re 4 and 5 lol! when they turn 14 and 15, then come back and talk to us about how they view boys lol! i’m pretty sure she’ll be singing a different tune by then. at this age, boys are so far from a parental issue.
