It’s a girl for Indy driver Scott Dixon and wife Emma Davies-Dixon! The couple — married in February 2008 – welcomed daughter Poppy Davies Dixon on Sunday, July 5th.

Scott raced to a third place finish at Watkins Glen International in central New York earlier in the day, before racing home to Indianapolis in time for the birth. Poppy weighed in at 6 lbs., 8 oz. and measured 18 inches in length. ”All are doing fine,” Scott reports.

The pregnancy was announced in March.

I really like the name Poppy. There is something so sweet and girly about it. My husband hates it.. he thinks of poppy seeds.

  2. Philippa Says:

Beautiful name, absolutely love it :D

  3. poppykai Says:

We named our almost 2 y.o. daughter Poppy. Obviously I love the name but I get the most unusual looks from people who hear me calling her. 5 years ago I got strange looks for naming our son Kai though, so maybe Poppy will become a little more mainstream too.

  4. A Says:

What a gorgeous name! Very girly and sweet. Too bad it only sounds “good” in English so I’ll never be able to call a potential daughter like that but oh well :)

  5. Marlena Says:

I wonder if she will have a Kiwi passport as well? Congrats to Scott and his wife. I’m sure the NZ media will be all over it in a day or two. CBB rocks for latest news (esp here in NZ)

  6. deedot Says:

Poppy? Unusual…lord there are MILLIONS of them where I live. And Lolas….and Daisys etc etc…

  7. 12 Weeks Pregnant Says:

Congrats Scott and Poppy is a lovely name!
