Lansinoh Breastfeeding Supplies

As a mother of two sons (2 ½ years old and 4 months old) who strongly believes in the benefits of nursing, it didn’t take long until I discovered the Lansinoh product line.
The Virginia-based company was founded 20 years ago by a breastfeeding mom and to this day focuses on nursing equipment.

I quickly learned to love and trust it; their signature HPA Lanolin ($10/2-ounce tube) claims to be the purest wool grease in the world, it contains no preservatives, no additives, no water or perfume and doesn’t need to be removed before breastfeeding. It healed and protected cracked nipples whenever my first couldn’t get his food fast enough, and since my second son has comparably bad table manners, the Lanolin tube sits right next to the nursing pads.

Finding fitting nursing pads, I discovered, is more difficult than choosing a nursing bra. Again it was the Disposable Nursing Pads ($8/60) which became my favorite. They are thin and soft enough not to look as if I’m a supporting actress wearing breast shields in a Star Wars movie, yet they are incredible absorbent (which you can see when removing but hardly feel) and stay in place even without using the adhesive tape. Some might appreciate the fact that they are individually wrapped for cleanliness, but this in my opinion needless amount of wrapping waste is the only thing that keeps me from calling them perfect.
Danielle adds: “They were my favorite disposable nursing pad but I agree that the waste is annoying and probably unnecessary for the most part since I was often putting them on at home.” They also make Ultra Soft Nursing Pads ($4.75/36) which are softer and more padded for the last weeks of pregnancy and first weeks of nursing when your nipples may be more tender or sore and cotton Washable Nursing Pads ($18/4) for those who don’t mind washing them (they are thicker and more visible under clothing though).

I’m too miserly to use the Clean & Condition Cloths ($3.50-5.50/70) for diaper change, but my first son has eczema prone skin, and these wipes which are alcohol-free and designed for the frequent use with breastfed newborns are the only ones I use whenever I quickly need to wipe his face.

Ur Right! Their lanolin is the best! I never had any issues with dryness or cracked nipples and would reach for this again and again!
Their nursing pads were pretty good too!
I became a Lansinoh convert after reading all the reviews while preggo! If it were up to me, I would convert all those who swore by Medela to give their B.pump a try. If you don’t already know @ their breast pump, u better ask somebody! Or better yet, don’t! (Just so it keeps the prices down for those of us that know better!)

Their thin (not ultra-thin) breast pads are the BEST! I tried other brands, which were a little bit cheaper, but nothing compared to the Lasinoh ones. I didn’t leak and you couldn’t see them through my clothes. I eventually switched to using ultra-thin during the day, but I always just used the thin at night.

my friend gave me a small tube of the lanolin and i thought “oh, that’s nice, but i probably won’t even use it.” well, i’ve eaten those words and bought more through my 3 boys and it was a HUGE lifesaver!!! i’ve also put it on my cracked heels occasionally

Their stuff is the best. I tried every pad out there and theirs were the best. I will never buy anything but this brand

Sara, I was the opposite. After reading they were must-have products for any new mom, I bought the products listed while I was pregnant — the breast pads, the nipple cream — but I used NONE of it. I’m a full-time mom who breastfed my son on demand, so I never had a leaking problem. And somehow, just using a good, safe, organic body oil all over kept my skin soft and nipples from cracking. Also, letting the milk dry on the nipples was a natural conditioner that worked well for me.
I know everyone is different and these products are great for some people, but I regretted spending the money on all this stuff I never used. I should have waited until after he was born and knew how things were going before spending the money, trying to be “prepared”.

I have used the Lansinoh for my sore nipples, but I think the greatest use that I have found for the lanolin is for any diaper rash or redness. Fortunately, my sons did not really get diaper rash, but I always reach for the Lansinoh when they have a red bum or when my toddler doesn’t wipe his backside so well (which then results in pain, tenderness, and redness). I have never used traditional diaper cream, but I learned about the Lansinoh from a friend and I can say that it’s always worked quickly and wonderfully for me.

I also use Lansinoh on my heels and they are awesome for stretch marks,it stays on much longer than bio-oil

The lanolin did make my sore nipples feel better, but beware. It STAINS terribly! I had to get rid of alot of my clothing & several articals of my son’s because the Lansinoh left huge grease stains all over everything!!! It took me a while to notice what was happening since I just had a baby, was not doing my own laundry, & was completely bleary-eyed at the time, so sadly alot of our things were totally ruined. I wish there had been a warning on the packaging.
