Steal That Style: Nahla and Ava’s Skirted Swimsuits

Celebrity Baby Blog – Steal That Style

Summertime and the livin’ is easy! Bring on the beach, bring on the sand, and bring on the — skirted — bathing suits. Adding a little extra flair to both the traditional one-piece swimsuit and the bikini is the popular ruffled skirt that sits right at baby girl’s hips.

Just last week, hearts were melting as little Nahla Ariela Aubry splashed in the surf while in Miami, Florida with mom, actress Halle Berry and dad, model Gabriel Aubry. While Halle kept her suit under wraps by opting for a tank dress, 16-month-old Nahla showed off her adorable foam green one-piece suit, complete with a ruffled skirt!

At the start of the summer season, Ava Jackman, along with her brother Oscar, kept cool on a hot day in New York City by running through a sprinkler at a local park. The 4-year-old was spotted wearing a cute one-piece floral skirted bathing suit while enjoying a popsicle courtesy of her dad, actor Hugh Jackman.

So late in the season, purchasing swimsuits can either be a great way to plan for the future while saving some cash or a complete disaster! For parents who are able to think ahead to next year, now is the time to take advantage of some great deals as the summer winds down. That said, waiting to buy a child’s bathing suit the week before the family heads out on an August vacation will undoubtedly leave the buyer short on options.

Steal That Style: Nahla and Ava’s Skirted Swimsuits with the looks below!

Celebrity Baby Blog – Steal That Style Mama Om’s Blooming Berry Bikini

Breaking Bank: When one ruffle isn’t enough, spring for two with the Kate Mack Toddlers Pink Halter Top Leopard Skirted Swimsuit ($50). Sporting a double ruffled skirt, the one-piece floral-patterned halter comes with adjustable straps at the neckline and fabric flowers at both the straps and the skirt. Can’t get enough of the design? Top off the look with matching flip-flops!

Some little girls love to dance and the Chasing Fireflies Ballerina Swimsuit ($60) allows your tiny dancer to practice her steps even when she is away from the studio (or home!). Although the price is steep for a suit that will most likely be used for only a few months, consider its unique tulle ruffle before you cast it aside. The fluffy skirt adds a sweet touch to the ensemble and is sure to leave your princess performing impromptu ballet recitals at the beach!

Celebrity Baby Blog – Steal That Style Mama Om’s Blooming Berry Bikini

Not Pinching Pennies: Red hot! We are loving Mama Om’s Blooming Berry Bikini ($37), a bright and bold two-piece suit that stands out from the crowd. A skirted bottom and a ruffle on the top half of the suit which sits at baby’s belly offers plenty of fun movement for a little one on the go while the tie straps allow parents to adjust accordingly. For moms who are interested in a matching bikini for themselves, Mama Om has you covered: check out their Blooming Berry Top ($35) and the Blooming Berry Bottoms ($30). Be sure to read our review of the line here.

In need of some flower power? Giggle’s Floral Ruffled Tanksuit ($25) fits the bill and then some! However looks aren’t everything this one-piece has to offer: the skirted swimsuit not only has built-in diaper protection, but comes complete with a UV Protection Factor of 50+ as well. With an absorbent terry-liner on the inside and UV-treated lycra on the outside, parents only need to worry about slathering baby girl with sunblock on her exposed skin.

Also be sure to check out Ralph Lauren Logo Swimsuit ($40), a simple yet adorable white one-piece with the company’s polo logo embroidered all over the swimsuit in pink. The matching pink straps complete the look, creating a racerback for your little one.

Celebrity Baby Blog – Steal That Style Janie and Jack’s Beachcomber One-Piece Swimsuit

Bargain Buying: While the price for Janie and Jack Beachcomber One-Piece Swimsuit ($18) may seem like a stretch as a bargain buy, keep in mind that in comparison to the original tag ($30) the swimsuit is a steal! The one-piece touts such great quality — a fully lined interior for maximum comfort and adorable accents including striped bows at both the bodice and skirt — there is little doubt why the brand has incurred a large celebrity fan base. Janie and Jack suggest using their matching Smocked Terry Dress ($21) as a cover-up.

As always, a great affordable option can be found at family-friendly Target. Their Circo Stripe Swimsuit ($7) has a longer skirt, similar to Ava’s, with a cute bow accent placed right at the hip. The one-piece comes with thin straps that cross over in the back, which may pose a problem for the parents of squirming toddlers, but that slight downfall is easily offset by the swimsuit’s UPF 50+ sun protection.

  2. Heather Says:

It is so nice to see children having good old fashioned summer fun! That’s what life is all about–getting wet in the water and having ice pops run down your arm LOL!

  3. Kat Says:

there are also some very cute skirted suits at walmart and kmart… we found my daughter’s suit at kmart… only 9.99 marked down from 15.99, fits her great, and the skirt looks so cute and helps cover her bottom (she has an ample one inherited from me and gets wedgies in swimsuits easily, so that’s another plus to this style)

  4. Lala Says:

Too Cute!! I love the red one the most.
