I remember her! I loved that show and watched it faithfully! congrats to her.

  2. Deb Says:

I liked her on “My So Called Life”. Just curious,though-why does Jack(and maybe Joscelyn, too?)have A.J.’s last name?

  3. Ann Says:

It’s part of their middle names.

  4. noam Says:

since her children were born in california, and she is not british, do they still inherit the titles lord and lady? i know that adopted children don’t inherit titles (like jamie lee curtis and christopher guest’s kids) but don’t know about foreign-born…

  5. Nicky Says:

The children’s last name is Courtenay and in Jack’s case, it’s just a middle name. Their daughter doesn’t have Langer in her names.

  6. Vicann Says:

I’d be interested to see if her pregnancy was effected by her fibromyalgia in any way. I know she’s spoken out about her condition before.

  7. Nicky Says:

Noam, Jack upon his grandfather’s death would take over his father’s courtesy title while his father and mother would become the Earl and Countess of Devon. Their daughter would be a Lady. Currently both kids would be the Honorable Jack and Joscelyn Courtenay.

As children of the eldest son, there should be no problem with them inheiriting titles. The mother has nothing to do with it, titles go through the father unless there was a special dispensation (Queen Elizabeth’s husband the Duke of Edinburgh’s uncle’s title Earl Mountbatten went to his daughter as he had only girls. The eldest girl became Countess Mountbatten).

Their birth location shouldn’t have anything to do with the right to inheirit.

I loved her on My So Called Life! Glad to see mother and baby are healthy. I never knew that titles still passed to the eldest son within the British nobility, you’d think that since daughters can inherit property there wouldn’t be a preference and it just would all go to the oldest no matter the gender.

  9. weesam Says:

Dee, the question of who can inherit goes back to the original Letter Patent creating each individual peerage title. In the case of the Earls of Devon, the peerage dates back to the 1500’s, when equal rights for women were unheard of.

  10. CelebBabyLover Says:

Kudos to A.J. for having a homebirth! :)
