I know Zev was born via surrogate but does have any of Marisa’s genes in him? He looks so much like her! Just wondering how that’s possible if there was a surrogate involved. He’s such a cutie!

I was there – She looked wonderful! And much thinner in person
That is one cute kid, really well behaved!
Go see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. Best kids film in a long time – Really
My 7 year old son loved it!

Yes, Zev is his mommy + daddy’s genes, but was carried by another woman. Zev looks like the cutest little guy, and you can just see the love and happiness pour out from Marissa, and her husband. I hope to see them have more
Look at all that hair! My brother and I were bald till we were practically 2 HAHAHA.

Kelly, they could have implanted a fertilzed embryo (Marisa+hubby) into the surrogate. I know she had cervical cancer, don’t know the details, but she could have had eggs frozen or her ovaries could still be intact. Hope this helps.

He is such a cute little guy…I love his expression, like “hey, whatsup?”

I can’t get over how he’s gone from a baby to a little man overnight. And he’s just as cute, looking so much like his mama!

Cuteness overload!!

Oh my goodness! In this picture alone it seems like he has officially left the “baby” stage and looks like a young man. What a cutie patooty!

I figure that although this little one was carried by surrogate that he is from both his Mom and Dad’s genes…he looks just like Marisa I think, especially when he smiles!
(I had the same question about surrogacy too though, when it came to SJP and her twins..I wondered if they were from her eggs or if someone donated eggs for surrogacy).

SJP is also the same situation: It’s her eggs..etc. but it was just carried by someone else.

What a cutie, all that hair! Is it just me, or does Zev look a lot older than 13mths?! Looks about 2 years here to me…my daughters 20mths now and looks younger/smaller than him. She looks such a happy, involved mum, glad she was able to have a child (via surrogate technically I know, but he’s still her son of course) after what she’d been through healthwise. Like his name too..

Marissa looks fantastic as does her Mini-Me!

I remember Marissa saying that she had a gestational surrogate. My husband and I currently have a gestational surrogate carrying twin girls for us (they are due in 2 weeks). When a gestational surrogate is used, it is typically the mom’s egg and dad’s sperm. However a donor’s egg/sperm can also be used. The term “gestational” means simply carrying the embryo(s) to term with no genetic relation to that embryo(s). A traditional surrogate is one who uses their own eggs with either a donor or the intended father’s sperm.
Hope this helps.
