Katie Holmes and Suri: Born to Run
James Devaney/WireImage |
Catch me if you can!
Katie Holmes keeps daughter Suri Cruise, 3, on the chase as the two — plus Suri’s baby doll! — run around a track in Boston, Mass., on Monday.
Over the weekend, the Holmes-Cruise family enjoyed some quieter moments, hanging out near the Charles River together on Saturday and grabbing coffee on Sunday.
Katie carries a Corolle Classic Bébé Chéri Doll ($90).

Aw…love that Suri’s baby had to go on a run too!
However, Suri’s in pants, sneakers, has a big smile and her hair is up and Katie is also in short sleeves…I’m guessing this comment section is gonna be really quiet LOL j/k.

Suri looks so cute with her pigtails!
October 14th, 2009 at 4:06 pm
Suri looks super cute with the pigtails.
When I was little my mom always said, “It’s fine to bring your doll but just remember YOU have to carry it.” Katie’s pretty cool to carry the doll! Not that my mom wasn’t cool, but you know. . .
October 14th, 2009 at 4:09 pm
I wish I looked that good in sweats and a T-shirt.
October 14th, 2009 at 4:11 pm
She looks so cute in pigtails. I am glad to see them happy.
October 14th, 2009 at 4:14 pm
I swear Suri gets cuter every time I see a picture of her!
October 14th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
The people who always have issues with her hair being down should be EXTREMELY happy with her hair in pigatils.
October 14th, 2009 at 4:19 pm
Oh my goodness the child is in pants and looks her age! Everybody stop and take in this moment! LOL = )
October 14th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
omg…so far there is…dare I say…NO DRAMA about this picture.
Her hair is tied up, and both she and Katie have no jackets on.
There’s nothing for anyone to complain about…..what’s everyone gonna do?
Anyways, I love how Suri brought her babydoll to their workout. They both look like they’re having so much fun together. They’re so sweet
!
October 14th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
Man, she reminds me of my niece! She’s absolutely beautiful! LOOOVE the pigtails and especially the smile!
October 14th, 2009 at 4:31 pm
Suri looks so cute! I love her little outfit and pigtails! And my daughter has that same Corolle baby…it’s the Bebe Cheri model. I can spot Corolle dolls even from behind due to my daughter’s growing collection, but Bebe Cheri (Ruby as she’s named in our home) is the only one who’s arms are always in the air. Plus, she’s 21″ long so she’s a “big baby,” which is Ruby’s nickname!
Here’s more on her: http://www.shopatron.com/products/productdetail/part_number=CODM2137/205.0
October 14th, 2009 at 4:31 pm
yay! finally katie is getting it right! suri can run around without worrying about falling on her face, she’s in tennis shoes so she CAN run, instead of heels, and her and mommy are playing and running with her dolly instead of drinking coffee and hot cocoa visiting art museums! what a gorgeous little girl!!! i wouldn’t mind being a kid of theirs!
October 14th, 2009 at 4:32 pm
computerag, my mom used to say the exact same thing. she was not into carrying our dolls.
October 14th, 2009 at 4:48 pm
Love the pigtails!! — and that they’re step is the same
October 14th, 2009 at 4:56 pm
Those pigtails are adorable!
October 14th, 2009 at 5:06 pm
Not to be a pooper , but, it has been COLD here ( 50’s ) since September. Shouldnt she be wearing at least a fleece? She is ALWAYS underdressed IMHO.
October 14th, 2009 at 5:18 pm
she looks cute with her pigtails and legging/sneakers…but seriously, Katie…. you’re in Boston in October – put a sweatshirt on her!
October 14th, 2009 at 5:19 pm
Kim–I’m right in the area where Katie & Suri are staying, and while some days have been chilly, others have been okay especially when you’re in the sun. And since Katie & Suri are running, I’m guessing they’re not too chilly
October 14th, 2009 at 5:22 pm
Oh but wait, there is something to complain about for those that feel the need. Her hair accessories are red yet her clothes are purple and white. Once again, call CPS.
Joking aside, Suri looks adorable in her pigtails.
October 14th, 2009 at 5:32 pm
Pigtails, leggings and sneakers, r u happy now?
If the kid don’t feel cold usually she won’t feel cold running.
October 14th, 2009 at 6:18 pm
STILL something for people to nitpick? My god they should just put her in a snowsuit starting September 1st of every year.
October 14th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
computerag haha my mum used to say that to, if I brought my doll I had to carry it but she ended up carrying it in the end. Suri is so cute… Also Suri is always a very happy and smiling kid never seems to be upset. and works those paparazzi cameras well.
October 14th, 2009 at 6:42 pm
Love the pigtails, she looks adorable! and no heels, it’s a miracle!
October 14th, 2009 at 6:53 pm
well at least she got one thing right, suri is being a kid, and not acting 25. She seems to be having fun though whatever shes dressed like or acting like. Hopefully next time the little girl wears a sweater or maybe she took it off to run. Hopefully thats the case.
October 14th, 2009 at 7:01 pm
And the complaints continue. Typical.
Katie and Suri looks wonderful and they seem to be having a great time!
October 14th, 2009 at 7:03 pm
Finally looking and being normal!
October 14th, 2009 at 7:04 pm
I love her piggies…This is an adorable pic of Suri.
October 14th, 2009 at 7:12 pm
Hip Hip Hooray! Suri looks GREAT! I love the the pig tails and socks and tennis shoes. She looks so happy, Finally.
October 14th, 2009 at 7:14 pm
I feel bad for Katie. She just lost hthe sparkle in her eye. She looks flat and just drained of life. IMO
Suri is beautiful and I am 100% sure Katie would never under dress her if she thought it was that cold.
October 14th, 2009 at 7:20 pm
Great picture of them being a Mom and daughter.
October 14th, 2009 at 7:32 pm
We all do realize that no mother wants unsolicited advice from a stranger, right? I mean, I get it ALL the time because I look VERY young (which I’m not at all) and older women think they need to tell the “teen mom” all the things she’s doing “wrong.” I loathe these people. Any self-respecting mother would. I mean, just remember to put yourself in another person’s shoes before you make assinine comments.
October 14th, 2009 at 7:36 pm
So glad to see Katie finally doing something with little Suri’s hair..and I have to say that she looks happier:)
October 14th, 2009 at 8:04 pm
Love this picture of Katie and Suri ….. They both look great and I have to admit I love Suri’s hair in piggie tails ….. and the fact that Katie is carrying Suri’s doll as they run is absolutely priceless lol! Seems like a GREAT mother daughter moment
October 14th, 2009 at 8:05 pm
Couldn’t have said it better Finais!
Suri looks so cute.
October 14th, 2009 at 8:34 pm
My first reaction was that they may be on an indoor track. I suppose the debris on the track could indicate outdoors, but I wasn’t sure. Anyway, Suri looks like an adorable 3 year old in this picture. Very sweet.
October 14th, 2009 at 9:33 pm
Awwwww she is so pretty and I love her hair like that.
October 14th, 2009 at 10:01 pm
Amen Finais!
Someone else said that Katie looks drained of life and flat. That’s strange because Katie looks happy in this photo and others posted recently. She looks about as tired as other moms running after active kids all day. Do people still say that crap over “concern” about her being apparently kidnapped and forcd into scientology?
It’s too funny how pigtails on a girl on a windy day can bring so much relief to the people who can’t grasp that wind DOES make long hair move and sometimes look mesy in photos.
October 14th, 2009 at 10:11 pm
Tom cruise has done an amazing job over the years of keeping his two adoptive children Connor and isabella out of the spotlight.I wonder if it is not also possible for him and Katie to protect little Suri from public scrutiny. There are a lot of well known high profile celebrities who seem to have mastered the art of keeping their children out of the spotlight. There by giving their children an opportunity to just be kids.
October 14th, 2009 at 10:13 pm
Cute pic but I was also wondering where Suri’s sweater is. While the weather has been pleasant in the northeast it certainly hasn’t been warm enough for how Suri has been dressed in all the recent Boston pics.
October 14th, 2009 at 10:23 pm
this picture is cute for the simplest of reasons: they are both doing the exact same thing (both right legs are up as they are running, both smiling, and their arms are both up).
October 14th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
Suri looks adorable, so glad Katie was able to enroll her in the Catholic school she wanted!!
October 14th, 2009 at 11:35 pm
People really need to start getting over Suri wearing or not wearing a jumper. She is running around… if any of you people have actually ran around you get HOT so maybe thats why she isnt wearing a jumper. There are a million reason why she might not be wearing a jumper… its a nice day.. she doesnt want to… shes hot… and so on. Im sure her MOTHER would know whats best for her. Not complete strangers.
October 15th, 2009 at 12:19 am
suri is the most beautiful little girl! all you people, maybe it IS cold in boston, but suri doesnt feel cold – if she did she’d obviously tell her mother and katie would get her the warmest jacket that exists, ok? and i think the reason it’s possible for connor and isabella to stay out of the spotlight is because there’s no drama surrounding them, there’s no demand for their pics. everyone wants to see suri, so the paparazzi follow her around…maybe because it took tom and katie SO long to actually show pics of her when she was born, and maybe because she’s absolutely stunning!
October 15th, 2009 at 12:58 am
I just adore this pic !!!! Suri is really a gorgeous young girl! she seems to be happy and loves her parents! Katie is always with her and Suri is growing into a confident child! I love to see Suri smile! ♥
October 15th, 2009 at 1:38 am
You know what, you people have problems with her hair, her clothes, her shoes, her EVERYTHING. who are you to even criticize her or her parents? Gd knows what would happen if you got to observe each other!! Really, even if it was freezing..it’s absolutely none of any of your businesses. She is her parent’s child, and she has survived three years under their care, guys she genuinely seems happy!!…GET ON WITH YOUR OWN LIVES, and maybe tend to your own children instead of bothering this little girl.
really needed to vent! lol
October 15th, 2009 at 2:06 am
@ I’m judgemental:
I totally agree with you! good observation.
October 15th, 2009 at 2:21 am
What a little doll!! I LOVE her pigtails…so cute!!
October 15th, 2009 at 2:36 am
To everyone saying Suri should have a sweater or coat….Haven’t you noticed that Kati’s in short sleeves in this picture as well?
October 15th, 2009 at 2:51 am
Her pig tails are so cute. I wish we had more pictures. Mother and daughter seem to have so much fun. She seems like a very happy child.
October 15th, 2009 at 3:44 am
so cute! I love that Katie is holding a doll.
October 15th, 2009 at 8:47 am
Suri is so pretty!
October 15th, 2009 at 10:16 am
Such a cute picture. I’m not one who has a problem with the fact that her hair gets messy, but I gotta say those little piggies are soooo adorable! Suri is such a pretty, fun little girl. Hey! My son is 3….I know who he’s marrying someday!
October 15th, 2009 at 10:44 am
Suri looks so cute with her hair in pigtails! For those of you who are worried about Suri not wearing a jacket, check out these pics!

Love the pigtails and Katie looks so comfy and down to earth
October 15th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
She is very cute but again not dressed for the weather in Boston!!! Im seriously starting to think that its a scientology thing!
October 15th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
Wow. This is a section to make comments, but there are some here who are complaining about the comments that are being made. Since comments are usually opinions, I see nothing wrong with what anyone is writing. This is the forum for it. I am certain that Katie Holmes is not reading this nor is she taking anyone’s advice. To be honest, yes, the little girl probably needs to have a t-shirt on instead of a tank top. However, she and mom look great.
Now, there’s my comment.
October 15th, 2009 at 3:46 pm
I doubt its a Scientology thing. Maybe they are just warm blooded. Some people get colder/warmer quicker than others. Plus 50 degree’s is hardly arctic temps. She’s not going to frostbite or get hypothermia in what she’s wearing.
October 15th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
With a talented dad like Tom Cruise and a cool mother like Katie Holmes, the sky is the limit for Suri. I remember seeing her baby pic on the cover of VF and Suri was one of the cutest babies I have ever seen! Adorable! Anyway, this family always looks cheerful and like they are enjoying life. I wish them all the best and I can’t wait for Tom’s next Mission Impossible and Katie’s Scared of the Dark!
October 15th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
How do any of you know, for certain, they are at an outdoor track? Haven’t you ever been to an indoor sports facility? The caption under/next to the picture DOES NOT state they are, for certain, in the cold.
Suri is the most adorable, well behaved child I’ve ever seen. Relax.
October 15th, 2009 at 10:57 pm
OK. To ALL the ladies Bashing the Bashers. What about when Katie and Tom are in Coats and little Suri is in a short sleeve dress and a Friggin’ Blanket? What is that? NO coat… but a blanket! I remember MANY discussions by some of the “oh so perfects” around here bashing Katie then. Just think back ladies and then shush up.
October 16th, 2009 at 2:20 am
Claire- Thank you! Everyone please take a look at the photos at the link Claire gave. They are more photos from this same day…and Suri’s wearing a coat in some of them! Clearly she just got warm and took it off at some point!
October 16th, 2009 at 2:21 am
Oops! The pictures are obviously from a different day, as Suri is wearing a dress/skirt instead of pants in them! Still, the point is that she IS wearing a coat in them!
October 16th, 2009 at 2:34 am
I always LOVE seeing Suri but this picture is just a BIT unflattering! I’d be embarrassed if someone snapped a picture of me making that kind of face/body pose. Haha! As always though lovely seeing them.
October 16th, 2009 at 2:39 am
In my experience, even when a child refuses to wear a coat, once they’re outside and start to freeze their opinion changes eventually! Some kids just need to learn the hard way; if Suri were cold she’d be whining, not grinning like a sillyface.
i loooove her!
October 16th, 2009 at 9:26 am
FINALLY! Some real shoes on that child.
October 16th, 2009 at 9:40 am
I think they look like they are enjoying a great day together. For everyone who has mentioned Suri’s lack of a coat ( in this and other photos)please look from another perspective. I am a professional in the child psychology field. It is a VERY important developmental milestone for children to be able to assert some independence. Sometimes, that comes in the form of choosing not to wear a coat, or always wearing dresses, or even fancy shoes. It is also very neccessary for children to learn to OWN thier choices and the consequences. If Suri does not want to wear a coat in the cold weather (her choice), then she will be cold (her consequence). She will learn that cold weather requires coats. The pictures we have all seen are usually pictures of the family in transit from a restaurant to a car, etc, and not exposing her to the elements for an extended period of time. Or, we’ve seen her at the park PLAYING…exercising, creating body heat. Let’s save the lynching of Ms. Holmes for something like a winter Alaskan vacation with Suri wearing a swimsuit.
October 16th, 2009 at 11:19 am
I CAN’T BELIEVE NO ONE COMMENTED ON THE FACT THAT HER BABY DOLL COST $90!!! WE ARE GROWING AND LEARNING AS COMMENTORS, AREN’T WE?!
*GROUP HUG*
October 17th, 2009 at 2:16 am
2msmommy- I agree! Also, in my copy of this week’s PEOPLE magazine, I saw a set of pictures of Suri that CBB posted earlier in the week: http://celebrity-babies.com/2009/10/12/tom-cruise-and-suri-make-nice-with-nature/
There was one photo in the magazine that CBB did not publish…and in it, Suri is wearing a coat. She obviously just took it off at some point. Either that, or she decided she was cold and needed it, depending on if that picture was taken before or after the others.
I have seen that prove to be the case with other sets of pictures, too. I have a feeling that Suri actually wears a coat quite a bit when she goes out…but usually ends up taking it off at some point.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:52 am
This is the first time that I have ever seen this child with her hair looking so adorable. They need to keep her in pig tails or at least brush and shampoo it once in awhile. Her hair always looks so messy and unkept. This is really adorable.
