“I love being a housewife. I am dead serious. There is enormous satisfaction when you’re a mother and you’ve gotten through a day. I can’t explain it. It’s different than being satisfied about your work life, which makes you worry more.”

Little Marc Jacobs Debuts New Kids Swimwear Line

Little Marc Jacobs Swimwear Line

Winter is looming large on the horizon, but if you’re already daydreaming about fun in the sun with your little one next summer, Marc Jacobs just might play a part. The world-famous fashion designer’s Little Marc Jacobs line is expanding to include swimwear, with a scheduled launch in 2010.

Make no mistake, these suits and beachwear are a splurge — boy styles range in price from $40-$80 while girl styles retail for $72-$88! But if high fashion is a soft spot for you and your tot, you won’t be disappointed.

While the kid suits won’t quite mirror mom and dad’s, they’ll draw from the Marc by Marc Jacobs apparel and accessory line for inspiration, including the use of Little Miss and Mister Marc signature cartoon graphics as well as the designer’s fun “kissing fish” print.

The items will be available in sizes 2-10.

Look for the Little Marc Jacobs new swimwear line in specialty stops and better department stores, as well as in Marc by Marc Jacobs stores, nationwide.

His clothes are cute and if I had celebrity money I would buy a few pieces. His 2009 Spring/Summer collection was adorable especially the dresses.

  2. stedine Says:

    These are so cute!!!

  3. cassie Says:

    ohhh i love!

  4. Bren Says:

Those kids look miserable, shouldn’t kids look excited about going swimming? Cute kids but I don’t like the ad or the price.

  5. JustMe Says:

I thought the same thing Bren… They’re posed like those “OH-I’m-beautiful-but-so-jaded” kind of pose that all models do…But hese are kids!!!…sheesh.
    Bugs me.

  6. Heather Says:

Those prices are rediculous! Guess those are aimed at celebrity and wealthy parents. I wouldn’t spend that much on a bathing suit for myself let alone my daughter. Especially since it won’t fit her by the next summer. Waste of money in my opinion. I can just got to Target and get her 4-5 bathing suits for those prices. Sheesh!

  7. Jennifer Says:

I find this photo disturbing. It’s like looking at regular major fashion house ads in mags but with children instead of adults. The looks on their faces, it’s like they are supposed to be adult models. Creepy.

  8. Cece Says:

The girl’s expression says, “Do you really think my Mom is going to pay over 70 dollars for this when she can get something much prettier and cuter at Target for about 8 dollars?!”

  9. Erin Says:

Jennifer – thank God I’m not the only one thinking the same thoughts as you. I find this ad weird. Nothing more. Just…weird.

  10. Anna Says:

I also thought the kids look so unhappy to be in these swimsuits!

  11. Laura Says:

This ad is a pedophile’s dream. I can’t believe Marc Jacobs is showing a topless boy and a girl in a bathing suit.

  12. Diana Says:

Definitely creepy ad. And I don’t think the bathing suits are that cute either.

  13. Natasha Says:

    At least it’s a one-piece on the girl…

  14. Sarah Says:

This is definitely creepy. Why can’t children pose like children instead of serious pouty adult models? Show some happy children!

  15. Suzie Says:

This ad is really creepy. I feel like Chris Hanson is going to jump out and have me arrested, just for looking at it.

  16. Hannah Says:

Kids this young are already this cynical and dissatidfied about life?

  17. Alzaetia Says:

If wearing these suits is going to make my children as unhappy as these kids seem, I’ll pass…

  18. Molly Says:

Those price are crazy!! I wouldn’t even pay $75-$88 on a bathing suit for myself let alone my seven year old child. And lol Suzie!!!
“This ad is really creepy. I feel like Chris Hanson is going to jump out and have me arrested, just for looking at it.”

  19. Heather Says:

Wow um…yeah creepy is one word I’d use.. way to market swimwear…

  20. brannon Says:

sorry..obviously on my own here but these kids are adorable models and i love the suits. his kids line fits great and is always great quality. can’t wait to check these out.

  21. simms Says:

This ad looks like a pedophile took it! They should be playing and having fun. It just rubbed me the wrong way as soon as I saw it.

  22. Maureen Pohl Says:

This is marketing. Pure and simple. The idea behind it is using the models as mannequins so you pay attention to the product not the model.
These pics are used for marketing to people in the trade such as department store buyers and boutique owners who will put the product
in their stores. The happy joyful shots will appear in those stores. These children are non-gonadal. They do not and can not insinuate sexuality. Those are adult, post pubescent thoughts. Don’t project adult thoughts onto a child incapable of having those thoughts and there is nothing creepy here. Leave the innocence intact by thinking like the child instead of the sexual beings adults become.
