"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

"If you ask Violet what I do, she'll say she remembers me bowing on stage when I did a show in New York, and so she'll say, 'My mom sometimes will bow on stage and sometimes she gets her hair and makeup done.' It's a great job!"

Cinch Seat: A Stylish, Yet Functional Booster Seat!
![]() Cinch Seat |
Once your child graduates from a high chair to a big chair, there’s that tricky in-between stage where they still need a boost.
London-based designer Adam Kaliski — who studied sculpture at the Royal College of Art — has created a modern-looking booster chair that you and your little one will love. The Cinch Seat (approximately $95 for white) is functional, yet chic and comes in a range of colors to complement any decor.
Made with thick laminated birch plywood, it comes with an adjustable child harness, removable straps to attach it to an adult chair and a cotton canvas storage bag for easy transport.
There are two seat heights depending on the size of your baby/toddler — it’s recommended for babies who are sitting up to children aged 4. Simple to assemble and take apart, it also stores away easily.
Want one? Contact the designer to order– he will ship to the US. Also, prices for other colors are available upon request.

Caught Caring: The Jolie-Pitts, Asprey and Education Partnership for Children of Conflict
![]() |
When it comes to philanthropic celebrities, it’s hard to top Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. The couple — parents to six children — donated a staggering $6 million to charity in 2008 alone, according to reports, and they show no signs of slowing down. Recently they designed a serpent-inspired line of jewelery with Asprey, to benefit Education Partnership for Children of Conflict (EPCC). Co-founded by Angelina herself, the organization raises awareness and funds to educate child victims of war, conflict and natural disasters.
Asprey/Landov |
Known as the Protector Collection, the designs were inspired by Angelina’s reflection on the snake as an “iconic guardian, a cultural symbol of family protection” according to Asprey.
Each limited edition piece — made of fine jewels and silver – was created by hand at the jeweler’s flagship store in London.
Featuring rings, pendants, bangles, baby spoons and more, the Protector Collection is available now at Asprey locations across the globe, with prices starting at $575.
All net proceeds will be donated to the EPCC, which Angelina started with Gene Sperling, Director of the Center for Universal Education at the Council on Foreign Relations, in 2006.
The duo recognized that all too often children living in war-torn or otherwise chaotic environments were seeing their educational needs sacrificed, as funding was funneled to other sectors of government.
With a stated goal of uniting organizations, corporations and foundations to reverse that trend, the dream behind EPCC became a reality at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2007. It was there that $148 million was pledged to educate 350,000 children living in conflict, and to improve schooling for 700,000 more children.
“These are the children who most need a safe place to learn, a place to heal, a place to learn reconciliation, a place to build a better future and a place — to just be children,” says Angelina, “yet the education for these children is often forgotten.” She adds,
“Every child has a right to an education. And conflict is not an excuse for us to ignore that right.”

Brad and Angelina are parents to Maddox Chivan, 8, Pax Thien, 6, Zahara Marley, 4 ½, Shiloh Nouvel, 3 ½, and 16-month-old twins Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline.

Ashley Jensen Calls Childbirth ‘A Great Leveler’
Francis Specker/Landov |
Motherhood has given Ashley Jensen “a real respect for womankind,” the 40-year-old actress tells the Independent in her first interview since welcoming son Francis ‘Frankie’ Jonathan, 5 weeks. “Giving birth is amazing, and such a great leveler.” She elaborates,
“It doesn’t matter who you are — whether you’re Mrs. Beverly Hills with your botox, or someone living in a caravan in Idaho. You both go through that.”
Likewise, most moms will find themselves bleary-eyed and shell-shocked by the rigors of caring for a newborn and Ashley has been no exception. Conceding that she’s “stumbling from day-to-day,” Ashley — who is breastfeeding — singles out “getting to grips with feeding and not sleeping” as the hardest parts of motherhood thus far.
Setting up a routine has been beneficial, however. “It’s very all-consuming,” she notes. “I had to feed him before I came out, which is why I was a little bit late, even though he wasn’t really due for a feed.” She candidly adds,
“And now I’m worried about whether my breasts are going to start lactating! You can’t be away from him for too long.”
Already back on the set of Accidentally on Purpose, her new CBS sitcom, Ashley says that the transition to working motherhood was made easier by the network and by her costar Jenna Elfman. “I’ve got a dressing room so I can take my little boy in with me,” Ashley points out. “And it’s great on set because Jenna is pregnant too. She’s about to have her second child in March.”
While Jenna’s pregnancy was written into the show, Ashley — who worked up until the week before Frankie’s birth — says hers was not. “It was a case of hiding behind a series of giant handbags and flower arrangements,” she says.
When asked whether she and husband Terence Beesley have considered the possibility of Frankie growing up with an American accent, Ashley jokes: “That is a worry, lets face it.” She goes on to note, however, that baby boy will “probably have a mixed-up accent anyway,” citing her Scottish and Terence’s English heritage. The observation leads her to reveal,
“One of the biggest changes for me has been that I have started thinking about the future more. You have to. If we do stay in LA, we were thinking that perhaps he could go to the French School, which is a great school with a European influence. But then we thought, ‘Hang on, he’s only four weeks old!’”

Michelle Branch and Owen’s Apple Butter Apple Pie
Just how much does Michelle Branch love pie? “I was thinking of tattooing the crust recipe on my arm,” she laughs. This treat is a combo of a Gourmet crust recipe and a filling from New York City’s Buttercup Bake Shop, which Michelle whips up with the help of daughter Owen Isabelle, 4, sometimes tweaking the taste with different fruit butters (a purple sweet-potato butter will turn the filling pink!).
“You can’t go wrong with apple pie,” says Michelle, 26, who calls baking her “zen escape” and wants to open a bakery in Nashville someday. “If you eat it for breakfast with ice cream, you’ve got your fruit and your dairy for the day!”
