Hugh Grant On Future Fatherhood: ‘I Haven’t Given Up Hope’
![]() Jane West/INF |
Next September will be a big month for Hugh Grant: the actor will celebrate his 50th birthday. And although he has managed to rack up a laundry list of accomplishments over the years, Hugh now has his sight on something new — children!
“Ten years ago, I wouldn’t have thought about having children at all,” he admits to PARADE.
However, the proud uncle of “so many” nieces, nephews, and godchildren — including Elizabeth Hurley’s son Damian — Hugh is growing fond of the idea of a family for himself. “Yes, yes, yes. I haven’t given up hope,” he confesses.
That said, his desire to have kids comes with a set of terms! “That’s on the basis that I can leave after 10 minutes,” he says.
“I don’t know what it would be like 24 hours a day. I think I’d have a lot of nannies.”
With the thought of a family on the horizon, Hugh is already forming his own opinions when it comes to raising children. “I see a lot of children over-parented now, by my standards,” he notes.
“Over-adored. Over-spoiled. I quite like the children left alone to get on with it.”
His approach to parenting leaves Hugh believing he will be a top-notch father. “Yes, I do rather,” he explains. “I find I’m not as bad with children as I used to be.”

Peter Facinelli on More Kids: ‘Never Say Never’
Beetham/Whittle/Splash News Online |
Twilight star Peter Facinelli has made no secret of his belief that the “world is made for a family five.” Although he concedes in a new interview with Time Out New York Kids that he’ll “never say never,” he and wife Jennie Garth remain united in their content with their daughters Luca Bella, 12, Lola Ray, 6 ½, and Fiona Eve, 3.
The 35-year-old actor admits, however, that a subconscious desire to expand their brood might have been at play with one recent purchase. “We take our RV to our daughter’s soccer tournaments and we drove to Portland, Oregon this past summer,” Peter shares. “I just bought a new RV the other day.”
“We had a 33-foot and now we’ve moved up to a huge 40-foot Class A motor home. Who knows? Maybe I’m making room for one more child.”
With that said, Peter points out that maintaining the status quo would be undeniably easier. “When you get in a car, you can seat five comfortably,” he explains. “When you go out to dinner, you can seat five comfortably.” Although he grew up in a family of six, Peter says that times have changed. “Those were different days; Everyone climbed in the back of a Chrysler and your face was smashed up against the glass and nobody cared.”
There is also the element of time to consider – or lack thereof! When asked how he spends those rare days where he’s not working, Peter asks,
“What downtime? Any downtime I have is spent with my family, with my kids. In between one doing soccer and basketball, another doing horseback riding and the 3-year-old wanting to go to the park, I don’t have a lot of downtime.”

Kimora Lee Simmons on Motherhood: ‘That’s What I Was Made to Do’
Frazer Harrison/Getty |
Proudly proclaiming herself a “very good” mom, Kimora Lee Simmons says the proof rests with her children, themselves. Ming Lee, 9 ½, Aoki Lee, 7, and Kenzo Lee, 5 months, are “fun,” “sweet,” “well-behaved” and “mannerable” kids, the 34-year-old Baby Phat CEO tells OK! “It’s a successful thing we’ve got going on.” Kimora adds,
“The most fulfilling thing in my life is to be a parent and a mother…That’s what I was made to do. There’s times when I’ve been the mom and the dad. I’m very good at it; that’s what I do. It’s my thing.”
Although she admits she is “scared” to juggle her various professional commitments and her ever-growing family with husband Djimon Hounsou, she hints that a fourth child is likely. “I’m young, so why not?” she asks before adding, “I don’t put a number on it, but I wouldn’t mind — whatever happens. If it’s four or five, I wouldn’t mind.”
“I think I’ve been blessed enough to take care of them and blessed enough to have the wherewithal to deal with them, and the mental capacity and the patience, so I don’t see why I couldn’t or why I wouldn’t. I love it. It’s the most rewarding thing of my life, and I think Djimon feels the same way.”
That’s not to say that a pregnancy announcement is imminent, however! “I would like a little moment to be free to eat what I want and have a little drink and to enjoy my body post-baby, since the baby has moved out,” she points out. “We always call it the baby condo that they left behind — you know, the belly. Before I get a new occupant in the condo, I’d like a little moment of freedom.”
Kimora promised that when she has news, she’ll share it!
“I’ll let you know — I can’t keep a secret, I have a big mouth. And if I don’t have a big mouth, I’ll have a big belly, so you’ll see one or the other. But so far, nothing yet.”

No More Children for Elisabeth Hasselbeck
Andrew H. Walker/Getty |
During a visit to Barbara Walters‘ SIRIUS XM radio show on Monday, Elisabeth Hasselbeck told her fellow View cohost that she’s doing her very best to stay a mom-of-three.
Calling husband Tim Hasselbeck “so cute” and “incredibly attractive,” Elisabeth revealed that she’s employing a curious method of birth control.
“Right now, my strategy is dressing in a way that will not get me pregnant…Nothing too cute. I’m trying to wear nothing too revealing.”
When asked point-blank whether she thinks the couple — already parents to Grace Elisabeth, 4 ½, Taylor Thomas, 23 months, and Isaiah Timothy, 11 ½ weeks — will add a fourth child to their family, Elisabeth definitively replied, “No, I don’t.” She went on to joke,
“If something happened and I was pregnant again … I don’t know how that would happen, because I’m clearly avoiding my husband.”

Minnie Driver on More Kids: ‘Hell Yeah!’
Fame |
If Minnie Driver gets her way, son Henry Story, 13 months, won’t be an only child for long. “Hell yeah,” the 39-year-old actress tells OK! “I want more. I gotta work this year, and then I really want to have more kids.”
Her enthusiasm hasn’t been dampened by the “hardcore” first year of life with baby. “Making these really important choices on extraordinarily little amounts of sleep is the most challenging part,” Minnie explains.
“Protecting your newborn baby, being able to feed them, being able to feed yourself, being able to keep the clothes clean, being able to keep the place clean … it’s really challenging when you’re sleeping for maybe two-hour increments and then waking up and breastfeeding. Well, I was.”
Adding that “the first year is not for the faint of heart, but it’s amazing,” Minnie says that motherhood has taught her to be “incredibly present” because “these babies change on an hour-to-hour basis.” Case in point? Henry’s own growing list of milestones to date — a list which now includes walking, talking, and snuggling with dog Bubba! Calling her son “a little piece of heaven,” Minnie shares,
“Mama was his first word, Dada, then ‘tar’ — which is guitar, and Bubba, which is the dog. And now he blows kisses at the ladies in the supermarket. He’s a big flirt. Big blue eyes, big white blond head of hair. He’s very handsome.”
Minnie’s new film Motherhood is in theaters now.

T.R. Knight: ‘I Want a Baby’
Flynet |
The baby fever which has swept across the set of Grey’s Anatomy has spread, apparently, to former costar T.R. Knight. The 36-year-old actor, who departed the show earlier this year, said during a Tuesday visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show that he’s anxious to become a father.
“I want a baby,” he revealed before adding,
“I don’t know if it’s going to end up working out, but that would be something I would like.”
Good friend and new mom Katherine Heigl has provided much inspiration. “I’ve wanted [kids] for a while,” T.R. explains, “so it reinforces it.”
As for Katherine’s 11-month-old daughter Naleigh, T.R. says,
“She’s such a beautiful baby. I’m so happy for her and [husband] Josh [Kelley].”
As for the other Grey’s Anatomy babies, T.R. says he’s spent time with Anniston Kae — 5-month-old daughter of Chyler Leigh — but is yet to meet Stella Luna – 4-week-old daughter of Ellen Pompeo. “There’s a head cold going around the cast and you can’t see the baby,” he explains. “So I’m pushing wellness formula on them to get the cast better so I can go see them.”

Hilary Swank on Motherhood: ‘When the Time Is Right, I’ll Know’
Courtesy Marie Claire |
Million Dollar Baby star Hilary Swank has babies on the brain — but the Oscar winner says, for now, there is a different kind of baby taking center stage.
“For me, my career is like, for lack of a better word, a baby,” she tells Marie Claire. “I always knew that I wanted to act, since I was 7-years-old.” For just as long, however, Hilary concedes she has been “thinking about the day” she would become a mom. She adds,
“When the time is right, I’ll know. I am aware that next week, I turn 35. But I am also aware that the timing has to be right.”
She’s already learning what it’s like to live with a child, by way of boyfriend John Campisi’s 6-year-old son Sam, and beginning to consider her choices more carefully as a result. A self-confessed fan of sleeping in the nude — “I just toss and turn too much…if I’m in clothes, I get all twisted up,” she explains — Hilary predicts that the practice will be coming to an end soon.
“You wonder at what age you should stop walking around nude,” she muses. “Every morning he comes into the bedroom, and you’re just nude.” Hilary is quick to point out, however,
“He doesn’t look twice; he doesn’t think about it yet.”

Julianna Margulies on More Kids: ‘I Don’t Think So’
Splash News Online |
A recent trip to Live with Regis and Kelly brought back a flood of memories for Julianna Margulies. “The last time I was here he was 6-weeks-old,” she mused of son Kieran Lindsay, now 20 months. “It goes fast.”
“Now I know why people have a second [child]. But…I don’t think so.”
Another baby seems even less likely given the long hours the 43-year-old actress is currently working on the new show The Good Wife. Sixteen hour days are the norm, she shares, often beginning at 5 a.m. and not ending until 9 p.m. The revelation prompted show co-host Regis Philbin to wonder whether “the little guy is saying at 6 o’clock at night, ‘Where’s my mommy?’” which prompted Julianna to quip, “Thanks, Regis. I feel much better now.”
All joking aside, Julianna says she is grateful for the flexibility afforded by her career. “I’m lucky, I get to take him to work most days with me,” she points out. “Even if it’s for a few hours.” She adds,
“And my husband, thank God, gets home every night at 6:30 so he always puts him to bed. So he’s always got one of us.”
Kieran is the first child for Julianna and her husband of almost two years, Keith Lieberthal. The Good Wife airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on CBS.

Madonna: Not Ruling Out a Fifth Child
Jackson Lee/Splash News Online |
With four children ranging in age from 3 ½ to 13, pop icon Madonna admits she’s got her “hands full” — but nonetheless says she hasn’t shut the book on motherhood just yet. “I have no idea [if I'll have another child],” she tells PopEater. “But we never say never.”
If she ever finds herself in need of a helping hand, it sounds as though she has a good option in oldest daughter Lourdes Maria, turning 13 next month, whom she describes as “super-sister” to younger siblings Rocco, 9, David Banda, 4, and Mercy James, 3 ½.
“She’s amazing with the little ones. She has the typical relationship with her brother, Rocco. They’re like ‘I love you’/'I hate you’ every five minutes. But with the two little ones, she’s great. She’s amazing. Very protective.”
Having “grown up in the limelight,” it should come as no surprise that Lourdes is interested in pursuing a career in entertainment — a decision Madonna says she will support, so long as Lourdes “finishes school, and takes it seriously.”
“She also plays piano, and she’s really into clothes and fashion and style. She can go in any direction. She’s got a lot of diverse interests right now. We’ll see. I’m not pushing anything. We’ll see what she wants to do.”
Lourdes first official foray into the world her mom inhabits daily took place recently, when she appeared in Madonna’s new music video for “Celebration.” “She really wanted to do it,” Madonna, 51, insists. “It’s just a little moment.”
“She hangs out with the dancers a lot. She’s a dancer, herself. The video is about the celebration of music and dance. There’s an improvisational moment when we’re all in a circle and each dancer does their specialty or a special move that they do well. She wanted to do hers, so she did.”

Drea de Matteo Wants Another Baby – Soon!
Flynet |
Almost every mom — at some point — believes her baby is brilliant and Drea de Matteo is certainly no exception. Calling 22-month-old Alabama Gypsyrose her “idol,” Drea tells USA Today says that baby girl is “wild” and “amazing,” and one to watch as she gets older!
“People think I’m crazy, but I really do believe I might have made the most important human being alive,” the 37-year-old actress jokes. “Her personality is unbelievable, and she’s so smart.” So impressed is Drea, she’s ready to do it again!
“I have to make another baby fast. I have to make another one in like two months. I just need to have a baby a year. I’m old, so I need to work fast.”
First things first, however, and next up for Drea is a turn on Desperate Housewives. The role has her in somewhat familiar territory — playing a “brassy Italian chick,” as she did for five seasons on The Sopranos — but those who are looking for a reprisal of her performance on the legendary HBO series will be disappointed.
“This character sounds like Adriana but she’s nothing like her in looks,” Drea notes. “I have a baby now, so they had better not put me in the sexy clothes!”
As she settles into her new digs Drea says she’s been enjoying lots of on-set visits from Alabama, who is “back and forth and crazy and coloring all over the place.”
“This week, I’m bringing her here because I feel like I haven’t had a chance to see her. This is a perfect job. I work maybe three days a week. I’m really lazy.”
Alabama is Drea’s daughter with fiancé Shooter Jennings.
